Top Pick Stats: 176/534 (-$194.70) Best Bets: 19/48 (-$22.80); Spot Plays: 9/49 (-$52.50) Best Bet: EXPLOSIVE LANDING (Race 3) Spot Play: LITTLE BIT OF SOUL (Race 6) Early Pick-5: 1,2/5,6/4/3,8/2,3,4,5,7   $8.00 Late Pick-5: 1/2,3,5,6/5,7/5,6/2,8   $6.40 Race 1: 2 YEAR OLD FILLIES: NW 1 RACE OR $8,000 LIFETIME. WITH ALLOWANCES. (1) CALYX ended up as a refund in the Peaceful Way Final after making a break well before the start. She was rounding into winning form at the stakes level before that miscue, and now she gets a significant drop into NW1 competition. If she can manage the rail, I think she will prove tough to beat. (2) PATS QUEEN has likely shown the next most potential in this field, but is unable to make her big sweeping rally work every time. It made sense last week against A Splash Of Green, who was a big favorite. She could work out a trip here to be in contention. (4) UPTO LAURA HANOVER is another filly who has yet to face conditioned company, and showed enough in the Pure Ivory to be a use on tickets. (7) COURTNEYS PROMISE showed decent ability in Lexington with two different trips around that oval. She returns to Canada where she first qualified and could be a factor. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: POP UP SERIES: F&M THAT HAVE STARTED FOR A PURSE OF $12,000 OR LESS IN LAST START. AE: NW $25,000 IN 2025 (MIN 10 STARTS). W/O $50,000 IN 2025 N/E. LEG 1. (6) GENTRIFY was a solid third in her latest at Grand River. We have seen her class up in the past and beat tougher rivals than this. She may need to work out a trip, but she has shown more gate speed in recent efforts. (5) YODA QUEEN was hammered at the windows last week, and proved why. I would look for her to get plenty of respect, both from bettors and on the track, especially if J-Mac goes her way. (4) REDLANDBETHANYJEAN is another versatile mare who is having a decent season. She comes off a confidence boosting win at Georgian Downs and picks up the sharp Travis Henry. (2) P L RINCHENIA lurks at the claiming levels and picks her spots well. She is usually involved and putting forth a decent effort. I would look for her to be forward off the car if Jamieson gives her the nod. Race 3: 2 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS: NW 1 RACE OR $8,500 LIFETIME. WITH ALLOWANCES. (4) EXPLOSIVE LANDING was going to be a heavily bet favorite on debut after his dominant and excellent looking win in his lone morning prep. Unfortunately, he was scratched sick when entered, but is back to try again. I can’t go against him. (5) COMMANDER SAUL looks like a perennial bridesmaid, but those have been some sharp efforts, especially the last two from tough posts. I think he will put forth a strong effort again, and could add value to exactas. (2) HALTON HILL was completely empty in the stretch, which was very unusual given what he showed up to that point. I’ll look for a rebound effort and for him to hit the board. (6) TYMAL STARSTRUCK is likely to go off as the second choice as he drops from stakes competition. He has early speed that could be used, but I wonder if a more conservative trip will take place. He can close to get a piece. Race 4: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 2 (FM 3) RACES OR $31,000 LIFETIME. AE: 3 YO N/A $2,635 P/S IN 2025. (3) SUNDAY SHOES comes off a sharp win at Georgian Downs where he eventually drew away from the competition. He already has a good mark set at Mohawk, and the best driver in Canada, James Macdonald, is now listed. He could be in for a big effort. (8) STMIKES KERRYBLUES is having a great year, and is taking advantage of towering over Prospect Series competition week after week. I would expect him to be forwardly placed. (7) GREENARROW HANOVER gets a test against older foes this week. I could see him getting a trip similar to his career debut, and closing to hit the board. (5) TRIX ON YOU showed his massive upset win two starts ago was no fluke, as he came right back to get the job done when stepping up to NW2 company. He is another in with a chance if he gets the right trip. Race 5: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $9,000 OR LESS 2 RACES) RACE OR $8,500 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES. (5) MAGGIES TOUCH took a while to get to the races, but appears to have some ability underneath the miscues and quirks. She still managed third after an early miscue at Grand River. I’ll give her the nod to put it all together in a wide open event. (4) DRIVERLESS gets post relief after last week’s tough opening quarter where he was pressured. I would look for him to get better fractions up front and be the one to catch when turning for home. (2) IMA DINOSAUR shipped up from Kentucky and destroyed his competition as a heavy favorite. We’ll see how it translates to the big track, but he is a use in multis in my opinion. (7) JUST BANK was picked off by Florida Guy, who I was a big fan of in my Tuesday analysis from this week. I don’t love that she lost as the big favorite twice in a row, but her gate speed can get her in a position to hold on for a share. Race 6: F & M, 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 RACE (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $9,000 OR LESS 3 RACES) OR $8,500 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES. AE: 3 YO N/A $1,150 P/S IN 2025. (1) LITTLE BIT OF SOUL has rattled off three wins in a row, with her latest being a solid victory after leaving out and sitting a pocket trip to the odds on favorite. She pulled at the top of the stretch and wore down that rival to get the job done again. I think she will continue her winning ways. (4) KOBRA KATE came from well back in her latest, but was following fast fractions and vaulted off cover menacingly. She got picked off by the debuting longshot on her outside, finishing second as the favorite again. She keeps racing well, but when will she break through? (8) CENTURY LEXUS got a perfect tow into the race after those aforementioned fast fractions were set in front of her, but flattened out in the stretch. She could look for another live helmet and pass horses late to get a piece. (5) CC THE YANKEE shipped down to PA to try the Stallion Series. She was thoroughly beaten in that effort, but grabbed a check. She can grab another share tonight. Race 7: FILLIES & MARES NW 2 RACES OR $30,000 (OS $62,750) LIFETIME. (6) WISDOM HANOVER has stayed extremely sharp since shipping in from Kawartha, and has only missed the board once in her career. J-Mac’s choice looms large, considering he is listed on half of the field, but her versatility makes her a threat no matter who is piloting. (5) SHAMPOO GIRL rebounded nicely with a grinding second place finish. She had to flip off cover earlier than J-Mac probably wanted because it wasn’t taking her that far. She could be rounding into winning form, but we’ve said that before, and she hasn’t come through. (2) IBELIEVEINANGELS adds Lasix after also coming up short as the favorite in her latest. She debuts for the Menary barn tonight, who tends to get improvement from new shooters right away. (3) TITIAN couldn’t hang with stakes company in the Casual Breeze, but any of those top four would be 1-9 here. I would expect her to improve when dropping in class and making her second start for the new barn. Tough race. Race 8: POP UP SERIES: F&M THAT HAVE STARTED FOR A PURSE OF $12,000 OR LESS IN LAST START. AE: NW $25,000 IN 2025 (MIN 10 STARTS). W/O $50,000 IN 2025 N/E. LEG 1. (7) SANTAFES APPETITE was parked for the mile in her latest against some tougher conditioned company. She drops into this Pop-Up with just one win since shipping to Canada, but unlocking her gate speed could really help her out in this series. I would expect her to be forwardly placed. (5) BLINDED BY DELIGHT appears to have the speed to pick off a group like this, but she has only found the winner’s circle once this season. J-Mac hopping on will shrink the price, but could get her more respect. (2) CARSONS GOUDA got a perfect trip on August 15 but could not capitalize. She comes off a sick scratch and could be just a step short again. (6) CHEESE PARTY has been grinding out checks and came up just short in two straight efforts. Some hot fractions in front of her could see her pass a few in the stretch and grab a share. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 9: FILLIES & MARES, CLAIMING $20,000 FOR NW $30,000 (OS $44,500) LIFETIME. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE. AE: N/A $1,075 P/S IN 2025. (6) FIRST CAST got the job done in her latest after pulling from third and grinding down the leader. I think she will be forwardly placed from this post and in a good position to double up when they turn for home. (5) ARDYNE GRAYSEE has been sharp since the claim, and finished a solid second last time before being placed back for a pylon violation. She is another with good early speed that should use it here. (3) PRETTY MISSY MAY came up short against First Cast two starts ago, and faded out of the picture in her latest at Georgian Downs. She will need a strong rebound effort tonight. (8) DEE got her first win of the season last week after blitzing to the lead. I can see her working out a trip to get a share tonight. Race 10: CLAIMING $20,000 FOR NW $60,000 (OS $81,500) LIFETIME. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE. AE: NW $2,900 LAST 4 STARTS. (8) ABOVEMYPAYGRADE was a sharp winner last week, making that three wins in a row for this son of Sunshine Beach. He is inching towards six figures, and has done it the hard way. I’ll give him the nod to keep his streak going. (2) EASILY THE BEST feels like he is sitting on another win. It nearly came four starts ago at a huge price, and he has been the one tracking Abovemypaygrade in recent weeks. If the favorite falters, he could be the one to pick up the pieces. (3) BEACH CRUISER paced home strongly in his latest, but pretty much everyone in this field does that most weeks, making it tough to make up ground. I’ll look for him to work out another trip from up close and hit the board. (1) VOGUE BLUE CHIP is more of a grinder type, and is likely to have to take some air on the outside. He can grab a share tonight. (4) TANGO SEELSTER has been collecting checks in recent weeks, albeit against weaker competition. I’ll look for him to round out tonight’s Hi-5.
