Top Pick Stats: 244/705 (-$226.00) Best Bets: 30/64 ($7.00); Spot Plays: 13/64 (-$39.10) Best Bet: RYDER ROSS (Race 10) Spot Play: INUKSHUK SALLY (Race 5) Early Pick-5: 3,6/1,4,7/2,4/1,5,7/3   $7.20 Late Pick-5: 2,6/4,7/2,4/2,4/2   $3.20 Race 1: FILLIES & MARES, 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 RACE (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $9,000 OR LESS 2 RACES) OR $9,500 LT. NO ALLOWANCES. AE: N/A $400 P/S IN 2025. (6) SHOWMETHEMONEY DEO was just even in the stretch after getting an eventual second over trip, but she took a lot of air on the outside in that effort. Despite just three career starts, her middle move looms as the biggest in this group in my opinion. (3) BETTERDOUBLEDOWN was a logical favorite after her performance two back, but got picked off up the inside by a rival who sat a good trip. She makes sense again tonight. (2) KOBRA KATE has been right there at the wire almost every week, though she is another off the pace type who will need a setup. I will use her underneath. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $9,000 OR LESS 2 RACES) RACE OR $8,500 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES. (1) FLORIDA GUY posted his best effort around the Woodbine Mohawk Park oval last week and only missed by half a length. All parties involved appear to be figuring out his ability and making it work the best they can. (4) ELLICE ISLAND got a nice tightener under his belt in what was his first start in over a month. He appears to have some ability, but needs to put it all together. I would look for a step forward against a short field. (7) CHARLIE CHEEKS fired out from post eight last week and was pumped up, but a quick opening quarter cost him in the late stages. Roy could be aggressive again, but I only see him as an underneath factor. Race 3: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES GRASSROOTS CONSOLATION: 2 YEAR OLD FILLIES. (4) SAVOUR THE MOMENT has not had winning trips in her three recent starts at the Grassroots level. She has shown much more pop in her last two efforts. A driver switch to Jody Jamieson, who drove her aggressively three starts ago en route to a win, could be just what she needs. (2) HORSE WITH A PLAN gets away from Lavender Seelster who she had to do plenty of work to try and catch. Look for her to be driven like one of the best horses in the early stages. (5) CATTLEKISS has been lethal at Hippodrome 3R and has an effort at Mohawk that was pretty good, including multiple moves. She makes sense as well if you trust her to hold on the front. Race 4: 2 YEAR OLD FILLIES: NW 1 RACE OR $10,000 LIFETIME. WITH ALLOWANCES. (1) IN SESSION has been overmatched against some tough stakes competition in Kentucky. She showed promise right away at Mohawk and could slot right back in nicely despite the long ship back. (5) PATS QUEEN showed flashes of being a filly that could have contended in the Grassroots ranks, but has been doing okay in the conditioned classes. She tends to be passing rivals late, and can get a big piece. (7) MASSBAR was well backed at the windows in her latest, but spoiled that party when making an early miscue. Her recent morning prep was a sharp winning effort that could see plenty of money come her way again. I don’t think you can leave her off multi-leg tickets. Race 5: FILLIES & MARES, CLAIMING $20,000 FOR NW $30,000 (OS $43,500) LIFETIME. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE. AE: N/A $1,675 P/S IN 2024 OR 2025. (3) INUKSHUK SALLY had a tough trip in her latest and just missed getting a check in what was her second start back off a qualifier. She could get the best of a weaker group this time around at a price. (5) HOT COE COE has produced three good efforts since returning and looks like a mare that can sustain an outside move when in form like this. (6) ONEFORMYBABY is the classic early speed claimer horse that needs many things to go her way in order for her to hold on for the win. Will she be first to the lead? Likely. Will she be first to the line? Not as likely. Race 6: FILLIES & MARES, 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 RACE (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $9,000 OR LESS 2 RACES) OR $8,500 LT. NO ALLOWANCES. AE: N/A $1,315 P/S IN 2024-25. (2) RACE DIRECTOR had her first programmed action in just under a year when qualifying a week ago. It was a resounding success, some would say. She made up ground in the final quarter, trotted home well under minimal urging, and stayed flat, which she had immense trouble with last season. (6) HEY TRIXEY could take more money than she is worth because the times stick out. She pulled off an upset win four starts ago, but has been just okay against tougher rivals. How will she handle potentially being driven like the best horse? (1) HOBNOB HANOVER is usually good for an in the money finish. If not, she is battling for a check, which is more than a couple of these can say. She can grab a piece again. Race 7: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES GRASSROOTS CONSOLATION: 2 YEAR OLD FILLIES. (7) LILY REIN has similar vibes to Pats Queen, but has had a tougher time putting it all together consistently. Last week was a step in the right direction when racing behind a huge favorite. I’ll give her the nod to pull a slight upset. (4) MY GHOST made a sharp first over move at the leader last week, but that move fizzled out and she had to settle for a minor check. A similar move could see her blitz to the lead and not relinquish it. (6) JUST ALL OUT has shown some gate speed in the past which could get her in position to sit an inside trip from up close. She can get a piece. Race 8: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES GRASSROOTS CONSOLATION: 2 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS. (4) MAIZE AND BLUE faltered in the late stages last week but finished best of the rest of tonight’s rivals that were also in that event. He has the early speed to get to the front quickly and try to rate. (2) TOTALLY ICONIC hasn’t made too much noise in this long series, but showed a little bit of pop last week and could end up sitting a perfect trip. (5) WOLVERINE LEGEND hasn’t fit at the Grassroots level as well as I thought he would, but in a short field like this, he is just as capable of finishing in the money. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 9: 2 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS: GRASSROOTS STARTERS. (2) ILLICIT BEHAVIOR made a big blitz to get to the lead last week, but couldn’t sustain it when the closers came calling. He still just has the one win, but is knocking on the door if he can stay out of his own way. (4) CALLSIGN ROOSTER may have looked like he got shuffled on paper, but Cullen was asking him for more during the stretch drive, and didn’t get much. This is an easier bunch, though; He can rebound. (7) CATTLE DRIVE has been soundly defeated in three tries at the Grassroots level, but could show some gate speed and hang around for a piece. Race 10: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES GRASSROOTS CONSOLATION: 2 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS. (2) RYDER ROSS is in top form right now and is continuing to knock on the door. He has a major post position edge over his main rival (10) LYONS FIRSTBULLDOG who could easily be the best horse in this spot, but the post will test him tonight. I would expect him to be forwardly placed. (7) EVANS LEGACY slots in perfectly as the mid-pack type who will be trying to chase down these leaders late. I don’t know that he has the pop to do it unless things get western up front.
