Race 1: 2 YEAR OLD FILLIES: NW 1 RACE OR $10,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES.

(1) RULING MONARCH has plenty of upside potential after a debut where she rocketed home. I’ll side with her tonight. (7) CATTLE BELLE is proven against provincial stakes types and could be tough to beat if she gets left alone on the front. (4) GRANTON GEM makes her Mohawk debut after sustaining a middle move at Grand River where she only lost by less than two lengths. She appears to have some upside as well.

Race 2: 2 YEAR OLDS: NW 2 RACES OR $20,000 LIFETIME.

Competitive race. (5) MAHALO has been much better in his last two and should have every opportunity to pounce from up close. (6) UBIQUITOUS has upside on his side. He draws well and has only gotten better with each trip around the Mohawk oval. (8) THE ITALIAN JOB has proven himself against graded stakes types but may end up with the worst trip of the top contenders.

Race 3: 2 YEAR OLD FILLIES: NW 1 RACE OR $10,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES.

(4) NORTHERN SONG has flashed potential in limited starts and could upset with the right trip. (8) SIMEA could look for an off-the-pace trip considering the trouble she has had finishing her miles with forward trips thus far. (7) JYN ERSO could be first to the lead and may not face much pressure in this spot.

Race 4: 3 YEAR OLD FILLIES: GRASSROOTS STARTERS OR PROSPECT STARTERS.

(9) BARBARA MAY couldn’t reach (7) A SPLASH OF GREEN in last week’s showdown but the middle half severely favored the latter. The price discrepancy makes the former slightly more enticing in my opinion. (2) ELBOWS UP has versatility on her side and should be right in the mix with any trip.

Race 5: 2 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS: NW 1 RACE OR $10,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES.

(4) STAMPEDE lost the battle against Meetmeonthebeach in his latest, but once again showed enough speed to make him an obvious contender tonight. Sky is the limit for (3) FOOLISH BUSINESS after a dominant win in his lone qualifier. We’ll see what he can provide on debut. (5) WE WANT EAZY has improved since his career debut at Mohawk and gets away from some sharp rivals, but hasn’t quite shown me enough yet.

Race 6: FILLIES & MARES, 4 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $12,000 OR LESS 2 RACES) RACE OR $11,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES. AE: NW $100 LAST 4.

(9) DOUNEEDTHEMACHINE makes her second start with a new driver and could finally get the Mohawk monkey off her back. She just missed two starts ago. (6) SATU WANIA will get more support than she should because of the Gold lines. We’ve seen this movie before. (10) UNSURPASSABLE contains a solid turn of foot that could be used to pass many rivals in the stretch and get a piece.

Race 7: 2 YEAR OLD FILLIES: NW 1 RACE OR $10,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES.

(4) SONG FROM HEAVEN faces maidens for the first time after taking significant support in a Gold. She can work out a trip from up close. (7) MADIGAN gives Louis Roy another live drive with a horse making its career debut. I think she shows plenty right away. (1) R ROSIE hasn’t been great in her last few outings. I can see her getting a piece tonight.

Race 8: 4 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $12,000 OR LESS 2 RACES) RACE OR $10,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES.

(8) STORMONT FRIEDBOY was a sharp second two starts ago and likely works out a similar grinding trip tonight. I’ll give him the nod. (6) ILOVEMESOMETACOS was even better in his latest after an aggressive steer. He appears to be turning the corner. (1) IF POSSIBLE looks like a horse that will pepper the board for a long time. I’ll use him underneath and hope I’m proven right.

Race 9: 3 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS: GRASSROOTS STARTERS OR PROSPECT STARTERS.

(6) CRUNCHINTHEODDS makes his second start on Lasix after a dominant score at Grand River. He’ll need to step forward to beat a couple proven rivals, but I think he can. (3) STORMONT SHANLYBOY trotted a big mile in his latest and showed two back that he can take advantage of good trips. He could work out another one tonight. (5) MAIZE AND BLUE just missed in his latest. He has rounded back into form and draws well tonight.

Race 10: 4 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 2 (FM 3) RACES OR $20,000 (OS $28,000) LIFETIME. AE: 3 YO NW $2,650 L4.

(5) GREEN NINETEEN has been in the mix an awful lot this season without getting the job done. He may have finally found the right field this week. (4) INTEL QUEEN has been okay at the Grassroots level. She has versatility which should allow her a chance at a big piece tonight. (7) CHEX MIX could be set for a speed try after a couple of off the pace efforts. She stays away from the rail which has plagued her recently.
