Top Pick Stats: 216/651 (-$241.60) Best Bets: 26/59 (-$3.20); Spot Plays: 11/60 (-$42.40) Best Bet: BLINDED BY DELIGHT (Race 10) Spot Play: LO AND BEHOLD (Race 6) Early Pick-5: 1,5/2,5/4,7/4,7/6,9   $6.40 Late Pick-5: 2/3,4,9/1,5/1,9/9   $2.40 Race 1: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $9,000 OR LESS 2 RACES) RACE OR $8,500 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES. (1) JUST BANK was a logical favorite after her troubled trip two back, and finished a strong second after a front end trip. If she can get away in good order from the rail, I would expect her to challenge for the win again. (3) FLORIDA GUY has shown to have plenty of ability on the end of his miles, but is too far back to swoop them all. He is slowly but surely taking steps forward. (5) PIER HO EMERALD was a solid third in his morning prep behind Mohawk Million contender Ardonne. He showed versatility at this level back in July, but tonight could just be about getting him a flat line. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: FILLIES & MARES, 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 RACE (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $9,000 OR LESS 2 RACES) OR $8,500 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES. AE: 3 YO NW $7,500 L8. (2) BETTERDOUBLEDOWN faced the girls last week and produced a sharp late rally to finish second. That came off the heels of a near miss to another sharp rival. She is in winning form right now and is close to getting the job done. (5) DEAR ABBEY blasted out from post ten, then was shuffled throughout the mile. She found a little bit of room inside and came back to finish a good second. The post helps if Trevor is aggressive again. (3) WHO ARE YOU was overmatched in two recent tries against PA Sire Stakes foes, but has been a contender in most weeks when racing at this level. She is usually always making up ground in the late stages and can get another piece. Race 3: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 2 (FM 4) RACES OR $20,000 (OS $33,000) LIFETIME. (7) SUNDAY SHOES produced another solid late rally to finish in the money. Doug McNair picks up the lines tonight. I’ll look for him to pilot a winning trip. (4) ULTRA MYLES made it three straight second place finishes with his near miss last week. He continues to race well and should be forwardly placed again. (2) WISDOM HANOVER went off as the favorite last week, but left a sour taste in the bettors’ mouths after making an early break. She had been very sharp before that, which could have it seen as a blip on the radar. Race 4: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 5. 2 YEAR OLD PACING COLTS & GELDINGS. STARTING FEE $400 CDN ($315 USD). (4) ODDS ON BULLFROG was let go at a juicy 8-1 last week and took the same route to victory as he did the start before. He lowered his career best again, and is continuing to get better with each start. I’ll give him the nod to win again. (7) PLANKTON HANOVER may have rated just a touch too much on the front, because he allowed the eventual winner to grind into it and win the sprint home. He has finished second in three straight starts, and could trip out. (9) LYONS GUSTAVOFRING rebounded nicely with an upset win in the aforementioned Plankton Hanover race. He will need to get position from post nine, but was fired out four back and raced well. Race 5: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 5. 2 YEAR OLD PACING FILLIES. STARTING FEE $400 CDN ($315 USD). (6) ROMANTIC BEAUTY skimmed the pylons the entire way en route to an upset win. That trip made sense because she was shipping back from Kentucky, and it worked out well. She should be tighter tonight and able to take more pressure. (9) C J DESBI has won her last two Grassroots efforts in nice fashion. She should offer an inflated price because of the post, but can fire out and get a good position. (8) BIKINI SEELSTER has been fighting for checks at the Grassroots level, but was better in her latest, and could capitalize if the pace gets hot at a price. Race 6: 2 YEAR OLD FILLIES: NW 1 RACE OR $8,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES. (2) LO AND BEHOLD was a fine fourth in what was her first start in a month. She makes her first trek into conditioned company and should be tighter tonight. (8) M E LAUREL took the same drop a few weeks ago and was a “best of the rest” second to Barbara May. She got a flat line under her belt, but now hasn’t raced in nearly a month. (7) CALYX is a filly that we are waiting patiently on to put it all together, but that hasn’t happened yet. She comes off a fine qualifier, and could easily be a few lengths the best, but needs to mind her manners. Race 7: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 5. 2 YEAR OLD PACING COLTS & GELDINGS. STARTING FEE $400 CDN ($315 USD). (9) MEGA MOVES gets away from the likes of Beau Jangles and Tilthecowscomehome. In his two starts when he hasn’t faced the top tier, he has produced wins. We haven’t seen many Dancin Lou offspring produce at Mohawk, but he is one who has. Roy will need to press early. With the speed that he has shown, (4) ILLICIT BEHAVIOR should be a perfect fit at the Grassroots level. He is a bit of a headcase, but McClure gets a lot out of him. (3) CALLSIGN ROOSTER has gotten picked off after front-end tries in his last two efforts. Though, he has only missed the exacta once. The favorites are extremely logical. Race 8: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 5. 2 YEAR OLD PACING FILLIES. STARTING FEE $400 CDN ($315 USD). (5) LAVENDER SEELSTER got Roy’s nod after a second place finish as the favorite. I think this is another race where the logical looking horses will shine through. Her post is perfect, too. (1) HORSE WITH A PLAN couldn’t quite clear after a first over move, but grinded out a good second place finish. She may need to race first over again if outsprinted from the rail, but shows that she can handle it. (4) CHICANERY got a second over tow behind Horse With A Plan, and despite gapping slightly, she found her best stride and got the job done. She could work out a cover trip again. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 9: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 5. 2 YEAR OLD PACING COLTS & GELDINGS. STARTING FEE $400 CDN ($315 USD). (1) GOIN FOR BROKE looked well on his way to holding off Evans Legacy and getting the job done, but rolled off stride while on the lead. He can win if he puts it all together tonight. (9) MAJOR MONEY was able to slip out into the flow and win after a second over trip. He might be the one setting a quicker half, but if he finds a helmet again, he could do some damage. (3) DIME BETTOR produced an amazing rally two starts ago, and was sent off as the favorite last week, but made a break. I’ll look for a rebound effort and for him to finish in the money. Race 10: POP UP SERIES FINAL: F&M STARTERS FOR PURSE OF $12,000 OR LESS IN LAST START. AE: NW $25,000 IN 2025 (MIN 10 STARTS). W/O $50,000 IN 2025 N/E. (9) BLINDED BY DELIGHT has been an easy winner in the first two legs of this series. Tyler Borth picks up a very live drive in tonight’s finale. (8) YODA QUEEN has been another sharp mare in recent weeks and makes a ton of sense because of how well she grinded into contention last week. (6) GENTRIFY had to work from far off the pace last week and was not able to do as much damage. If the top two duel, she could capitalize.
