You know Thursday cards have gone on for too long when this field shows up in front of you. (7) NIXEN BIXEN makes his second start for the new barn after an aggressive early move nearly saw him bottom out the field in his latest. (9) YADREAMIN SEELSTER has fallen out of form in recent weeks, but never underestimate the power of gate speed against weak trotting fields. If (2) DULCES SUENOS DEO was ever going to win a race, this would be the field to do it against.

Race 2: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 5. 3 YEAR OLD TROTTING FILLIES. STARTING FEE $400 CDN ($315 USD).
(7) ELBOWS UP was closing nicely in the stretch but couldn’t quite catch the winner. Her versatility should have her in play with any trip. (5) HP IMAGINE stayed inside in that same race and appeared to have some trot. She should provide a fair price. (8) LOOK A DIAMOND reached double digit wins on the year which is an impressive feat. She is another contender in what should be a good race.
Race 3: 2 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS: NW 1 RACE OR $10,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES.
We haven’t seen (3) DATA BREACH since his Wellwood elimination but has shown more than enough in just two career starts. (1) UBIQUITOUS obviously caught some eyes with his flashy final quarter and the upset potential is there if he can step forward. (2) IF POSSIBLE was once again never asked in the stretch. Any win money on him is likely a takeout reducer for others.
Race 4: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 5. 3 YEAR OLD TROTTING COLTS & GELDINGS. STARTING FEE $400 CDN ($315 USD).
(7) MIKE ME UP was forced three wide when making his move to the front. That may have cost him given he only lost by a head. I’ll try him again. (6) THOR B GOOD is a price chance who got a nice tightener in his latest. I think he’ll be better tonight from this draw. (4) ANIBAL DUHARAS has been off a few weeks but makes his second start on Lasix and will be another price potentially worth stabbing at.
Race 5: 2 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS: NW 1 RACE OR $10,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES.
(6) MEETMEONTHEBEACH and (8) STAMPEDE are extremely obvious when dropping from Gold company. I don’t think much separates them but I had to pick one and sided with the former. (5) SIR GALLOWAY is improving with each start and showed a decent turn of foot on the end of his first Mohawk start.
Race 6: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 5. 3 YEAR OLD TROTTING COLTS & GELDINGS. STARTING FEE $400 CDN ($315 USD).
(7) STORMONT FAST BOY continues to improve with each start and should be given every chance in his first Grassroots try of the season. (9) ANOTHER GREAT MASS pulled off the upset last week with a nice first over grind. He likely tries to work off a helmet tonight. (6) MAIZE AND BLUE got a good trip last week but was unable to capitalize. He should be given a chance near the front again.
Race 7: 2 YEAR OLD FILLIES: NW 1 RACE OR $10,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES.
(6) NORTHERNLIGHTS GLO has shown enough against stakes competition so I trust her to perform here. (7) NEWEVE has some obvious upside and could step forward again tonight. (9) JULIA LABELLE raced extremely well in her latest and is rounding into winning form. This draw likely sees her close from well off the pace.
Race 8: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 5. 3 YEAR OLD TROTTING FILLIES. STARTING FEE $400 CDN ($315 USD).
(8) BARBARA MAY held her own in the Simcoe and fits very well against Grassroots foes. I think she has the edge on this group. (6) A SPLASH OF GREEN made a miscue in her Simcoe division but was sharp prior to that. She draws better than her main rival. (1) RONDA MAY K wasn’t at her best last week and I’m slightly concerned as to what trip she gets from the rail.

Race 9: 2 YEAR OLDS: NW 2 RACES OR $20,000 LIFETIME.
(6) GRAND MANALISHI takes a steep drop from stakes company and likely just overpowers this field. (3) TIC TAC FASHION was a sharp winner in her latest and was holding her own against stakes competition prior to that. (1) QUEEN OF BS was contending for a top spot amongst provincial fillies, but the miscues have crept in. After a fine qualifier, I think she’ll need a start.
Race 10: FILLIES & MARES, 4 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 RACE (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $12,000 OR LESS 2 RACES) OR $10,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES.
(1) A MOMENT OF GRACE was charging home on debut after angling wide. Her price is gone, but that first impression is hard to ignore. (4) ALWAYS BE EMMA may need one after a couple weeks off, but she got around the Mohawk oval very nicely to start her career. (3) U ARE MY SHADOW was much better in her latest and should be passing rivals late.
