Race 1: 2 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS: NW 1 RACE OR $10,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES.

(3) WHISKEY STINGER flashed potential on debut but has been stuck chasing stakes rivals since. (4) GLOBAL CHOICE has done basically the same as Whiskey Stinger but hasn’t shown as much gate speed. (2) PLAYOFF JIMMY is likely coming from off the pace tonight but showed some strong kick. He can get a piece.

Race 2: 2 YEAR OLDS: NW 2 RACES OR $20,000 LIFETIME.

(5) SUMLUCKYLADY hasn’t done much wrong yet and comes off a sharp win at Grand River. If she can sustain her move, I think she’s live. (7) STORMONT VIOLET got Borth’s nod and is another value player if the outside flow progresses. (4) D A JOHNNY CASH was more than good enough in his qualifier but made a miscue in his next outing. If he survives the first quarter, he should be well in the mix.

Race 3: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 4A. 3 YEAR OLD PACING COLTS & GELDINGS. STARTING FEE $400 CDN ($315 USD).

I wasn’t quite sure what to make of (7) HALL OF FEAR who got squirrely in the stretch and made a break. His form cycle lifted him to a career best two back. I’ll try him again. (5) TILTHECOWSCOMEHOME had to work first over in that race and was defeated by the horse he gave cover to. He could get to the front much easier tonight and avoid a second move. (1) EXACTLY CORRECT may have to bear the first over mantle which has worked for him in the past. Last week’s setup is unlikely to happen again.

Race 4: 2 YEAR OLD FILLIES: NW 1 RACE OR $10,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES.

(8) SNOWDREAM HANOVER was a good third when last seen at Mohawk. Showing some gate speed could do her some good against fellow maidens. Same goes for (9) MAJESTIC EVA who has gotten around the Mohawk oval just fine so far. I’ll look for her to keep improving. (5) PEACHY DEE was best of the rest in her latest. She draws well tonight and could work out a trip from off a helmet to get a piece.

Race 5: POP UP SERIES CONSOLATION: FILLIES & MARES CLAIMING $8,000. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE. (MUST RACE IN 2 LEGS TO BE ELIGIBLE TO CONSOLATION).

(9) ANNAS WISH was first over last week and held decently when others were closing. I’ll give her the nod despite the outside draw. (1) JAZZVILLE likely gets another speed try and will look to sustain it against a slightly easier field. (3) D A CINNAMONCRUNCH finally draws inside at Mohawk and appears live for a piece.

Race 6: 4 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $10,500 OR LESS 2 RACES) RACE OR $10,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES.

(5) YADREAMIN SEELSTER debuts for a new barn after a pair of decent second place finishes. She draws well and could take a big step forward. (1) KINNDER ROLEX had no chance in his Mohawk debut after getting away last. I’ll rank him highly again knowing that he has more to offer. (3) BROADWAY STAR was a solid second in his latest and continues to knock on the door. He will break his maiden soon.

Race 7: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 4A. 3 YEAR OLD PACING COLTS & GELDINGS. STARTING FEE $400 CDN ($315 USD).

Been waiting for (4) SCORPION SEELSTER to come back. He got a trip that no horse would have overcome in that race, and he still made up ground late. (5) ILLICIT BEHAVIOR does some sharp pacing when he’s on his game. Given the last two efforts, you would expect that to continue. (1) RUN TO THE HILLS made multiple moves second back which was just a bit too much for him to handle. A cleaner trip has him in the mix.

Race 8: 2 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS: NW 1 RACE OR $10,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES.

(1) IF POSSIBLE was progressing nicely before being scratched out of the Pure Ivory eliminations. If the sickness didn’t sidetrack his fitness, he could come back with a winning effort. (5) LETS PLAY ECURIE should shine if he can repeat that qualifier. That’s the best we’ve seen from him thus far. (10) INKED CCL finished behind Lets Play Ecurie in that qualifier and has the gate speed to secure a decent trip from out wide.

Race 9: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 4A. 3 YEAR OLD PACING COLTS & GELDINGS. STARTING FEE $400 CDN ($315 USD).

(7) WINDOR got a confidence boosting win last week and now makes his first foray into Grassroots company. We know what he is capable of when at his best. (6) WHOLETTHEDOGSOUT is on a similar path and wasn’t caught up in the blazing opening half at Grand River. He fits nicely against these. (5) BARRACUDA HANOVER hasn’t quite cut it at the Grassroots level but displays a decent late kick that could get him a piece.

Race 10: POP UP SERIES FINAL: FILLIES & MARES CLAIMING $8,000. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE. (MUST RACE IN 2 LEGS TO BE ELIGIBLE TO FINAL).

(3) SOLIDAZABRICKHOUSE lacked room in her latest and got going after it was too late. A cleaner trip could see her snag the win in the final. (6) MISSY ROCKS was lethal in her latest and likely tries to bottom them out again with this post draw. (7) LITTLE MOMENTS just missed after grinding on the outside. Both of her starts in this series have been very good.
