Race 1: Claiming Handicap $10,000 to $12,000 **GTD $75,000 Pick 5**
One of several wide-open races kicks off this card and I'll land on (7) TICO TIME who makes his first start for new connections. (2) EMPTYTHETILL gets Henry here after blowing up the tote board and he should contend again. (4) OUTLAW GUNPOWDER is consistent at this level and he fits well vs. this group; using. (9) E L WILD SPIRIT is in with a chance here if he can stay in range.
Race 2: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES GOLD 2YO COLTS and GELDINGS
(8) MACHO MARTINI has looked green at times and sensational when it counted in his two wins so far and he could be a star in the making. I'll stick with him here. (3) MYSTIC re-rallied professionally in his debut to just miss and he should be right there again. (2) ROYAL TYRONE qualified for this and broke stride which is a bit concerning but he has shown he has the speed to contend here. (5) ROOKIE SEASON looks next best and I'll use him to round out Tris and Supers.
Race 3: 4YO and Younger NW2 or $15,000 LT
On paper, it appears that (4) TINT OF MINT will have a good chance to control this race; call to repeat. (9) GOING FAST could be the best horse in here, but he needs to stay in range to have a shot; using. (1) TRUFFLE DOG is improving, and his best work is usually done chasing horses. Look for him late. (10) MACPHEUS fits better here and he should be coming on late to take a share.
Race 4: NW $3,000 L5 or $7,000 L10 - Pick 4
This spot looks tailor-made for the lone class-dropper (8) GREAT MAGIC who should be tough if he gets put into the race early as expected. (10) MAGICAL WINNER K has been racing well and should pop soon at this level; maybe tonight? (3) PINK PISTOL should put herself in good position early and she will be a threat if she stays flat. (9) MARQUIS VOLO is showing signs of improvement and he could crash the exotics at a price here.
Race 5: 2 YEAR OLD FILLIES ONTARIO SIRES STAKE OR PROSPECT SERIES STARTERS
(6) OURLITTLEMIRACLE is clearly the fastest filly in here based on her July 10th race at Mohawk Park and this should be her easiest test yet. She's a single for me. (9) FEISTY BETTY had a decent opener at Grand River, and she is sent out by a top sires stakes barn. She could offer some exotics value here starting from the worst post. (10) DRINKS ALL ROUND should be rallying late and she is on my Tri and Super tickets. (1) TIARA DANCER's debut effort was decent enough to suggest that she will take a share here.
Race 6: 4YO and Younger NW1 or $7,000
(2) MAGICS WIZARD couldn't keep up chasing fractions much faster than he will likely see tonight and he did re-rally late. I'll land here in a wide-open race that demands wide multi-race coverage. (3) RUKIDDNME BLUECHIP's race three starts back at this level identifies him as a contender; using. (5) D PROCRASTINATOR was also close at this level two starts back and he should be forwardly placed early. He is another that is in with a decent chance. (6) GOLDEN COMPASS was no match for a good colt in his debut and this should be an easier spot for him, too.
Race 7: 2 YEAR OLD FILLIES ONTARIO SIRES STAKE OR PROSPECT SERIES STARTERS
(2) VIRTUAL SUCCESS has had no shot from bad posts in both starts now she gets a positive driver change and a much better post; top call. (4) KIM is another that gets post relief and a driver change here and she too should improve; using. (7) COME ON SUN showed little in her debut, but this barn can turn these types around quickly and she is worth a price look here. (8) PATINA SEELSTER is another that should improve having got a race under her belt; using underneath.
Race 8: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES GOLD 2YO COLTS and GELDINGS - Pick 4
(4) HIGHLAND MOWGLI raced much better last week but he was no match for Macho Martini who may have no peer in Ontario in these ranks. This colt gets the nod here. (7) TOKYO SEELSTER is hard to leave out being unbeaten and he is sure to be the choice's main rival if he stays flat. (6) FOUR WHEELIN is sent out by a hot barn and I like the way he re-rallied to win his debut at Georgian; using. (1) HARRY wasn't far behind the choice in his debut and this barn has been sending out some nice young trotters this summer. He could provide some multi-race value here.
Race 9: Two Year Old Fillies
(4) TREASURES GEM is a homebred full sister to two that have raced, both of which won early (in their second starts). She goes for a hot barn and she gets top billing here. (7) YS DOWNONTHEBEACH's debut was good and these should be easier; Exacta factor. (1) P L ORCHID is a homebred 1/2-sister to good local horse PL Jackson. The way she finished her two qualifiers suggests she can contend. (5) WASAGA may be ranked a bit low here as she is capable, but she could be overbet in this spot.
Race 10: 4YO and Younger NW1 or $7,000 LT
(10) DART GUY looks as good as any in a race where you are basically throwing darts looking for a winner; slight nod. (2) OKAYZOOMER's debut wasn't terrible and Team Steacy can move them up quickly; using. (1) REGAL SEVEN is the likely chalk off his last effort and he is hard to leave off multi-race tickets. (3) LADY TITAN is worth a look on the driver change alone in this spot.
Race 11: Starters for a Purse of $9,000 in One of Last Three
Another tough race to close out the multi-race wagers. I could see McNair blasting (9) FASHIONONTHEBEACH right to the front here and never looking back. (5) RU TALKIN gets his nose back on the gate and Henry in the bike and that makes him a contender. (4) PROBERTS LEGACY is capable of better and this may be the spot where he wakes up. (1) JKNR LIKETELL can sit a good trip here and he should land in the Super. (7) MOSSIES ART is on a roll, but this is tougher; using underneath.
