NO ALLOWANCES. AE: N/A $400 P/S IN 2024-25. (7) WICKED ROAD was interfered with once again when the horse in front of her made a break, but she quickly came back pacing and saved all the ground to finish just three lengths behind the winner. I was impressed with that recovery. If she puts it all together, she can get the job done. (1) SARA B DELIGHT has been racing well at this level and finished a solid second after blasting to the lead from post ten. If she sits close again, she can produce another strong finish. (6) ITLL BE ALRIGHT picked up a minor check in her latest. She could be set for a more aggressive steer tonight and can hit the board. (5) MARLENES LEGACY has only hit the board twice in ten starts this season, and has been out finished when sitting up close in recent efforts. I’ll slot her underneath tonight. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: POP UP SERIES: FILLIES & MARES CLAIMING $8,000 FOR NW $5,000 LAST 5 STARTS. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE. LEG 2. AE: LEG 1 STARTERS. (2) HILLBILLY JET is 2-for-2 since moving to the Cameron McQueen barn. Top driver James Macdonald sticks and looks to make it three wins in a row. (6) GRAND CIRCUIT was impressive in leg one of this Pop-Up, winning by open lengths as the favorite. She now races off the claim for the Brett Lester barn and is a contender to repeat. (7) LISAS ALL IN was gapped out from third at the top of the stretch, but was coming back to the top two in the final eighth. She is tenacious when making her outside moves, and can grind her way to a finish in the money tonight. (4) RAMBARAN ROSE is improving every week and comes off a “best of the rest” second place finish. She can pick up a piece tonight. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Mohawk Park card at 1/ST BET PRO!] Race 3: FILLIES & MARES, CLAIMING $20,000 FOR NW $30,000 (OS $39,750) LIFETIME. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE. AE: 4YO N/A $1,155 P/S IN 2024-25. (4) FIRST CAST lacked room in the stretch in her latest at Grand River. She should only continue to improve with more starts under her belt this season. A cleaner trip can see her get the job done. (1) WINDSUN CHARLOTTE pulled off an upset win two back when sitting close to a hot pace. She was up against it when getting away so far back in her latest. She should be sitting closer tonight and can rebound tonight. (5) SHES LAWLESS has been a contender at this level in recent tries, and was another who was up against it from a pace standpoint in her latest. She can hit the board tonight. (7) STYLISH STELLA was a strong second in her latest after a first over grind. She has been holding her own in recent weeks. She can pick up at least a piece tonight in what is a competitive race. Race 4: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 2 (FM 3) RACES OR $20,000 (OS $32,750) LIFETIME. (5) COVER BAND appears to be back in form. He comes off a strong second place finish after going a first over trip. He appears to be the one to beat in this group. (8) THE TIME MACHINE got another try at the Grassroots level in his latest and was coming forward in the stretch after having to swing wide. The trip is in question, but he is clearly improving, and deserves to be used. (3) STORMONT CHEERIO has been better in recent starts, and has the profile of a horse that likes to sit inside and find a spot to come through late to pick up the pieces. He can do that here and hit the board. (7) FIREFLIESNTHUNDER got the job done in his latest after a perfect trip. He should be forward again and can hold on for a piece. Race 5: FILLIES & MARES, 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 RACE (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $9,000 OR LESS 2 RACES) OR $8,500 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES. (7) TRUDYBIRD is likely to continue improving with more starts under her belt. She picks up Doug McNair tonight which catches my eye. She has already shown that she can take air on the outside and still come forward late. I’ll lean her way at a little bit of a price. (10) P L STEVIE has decent form as of late, but the wide draw throws another wrench into the trip plans. Christoforou was more aggressive than normal with her in her latest. I believe she has the most talent in this field, and is one that many will use defensively in multis. (4) RESOLVED has been better since adding Lasix, and is one of the only horses in this group with recent form that you can seemingly trust. A forward trip is likely. (6) MS KIRSI is a filly that I had no idea what to do with. She races for a top connections combo tonight, but has shown no form at all, and that includes her recent qualifier. Be wary of the Will Pays and betting board. Race 6: CLAIMING $20,000 FOR NW $60,000 (OS $87,500) LIFETIME. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE. (3) ABOVEMYPAYGRADE continues to race well at this level and closed from pretty far back to finish third. I think things can set up well for him no matter what the outside horses do. If they send, the pace can be fast. If they take back, he can be closer to the lead. I’ll lean his way tonight. (7) SHREDDAR got picked off in the final strides after a speed mission. He can take another step forward in his third start of the season and add a little value to the exotics. (6) BEACH CRUISER was able to find room at the top of the stretch and battled to get the win. He has been put into the race in two of his last three starts and the results speak for themselves. (4) JIMMY WHISPERS hits the board basically every week, but I don’t know if the trip will work in his favor tonight. He can get a share. Race 7: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $9,000 OR LESS 2 RACES) RACE OR $8,500 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES. (2) BLUE HERON showed a lot of potential in his latest, finishing fourth in a Grassroots race and looking strong both in the stretch and past the wire. He has some gait issues, but should provide an adequate price to take a shot on him putting it all together. (7) CALL ME PARKER was even in his latest, but gets a drop in class tonight. He is another that is a main contender if he minds his manners. It’s a conflict you have to resolve often in these NW1 trot races. (4) GOAL DIGGER comes off a winning qualifier at Grand River where he was forwardly placed. He draws a much better post for his second career start and could add some value to the exotics. (8) ELLICE ISLAND is likely to get a conservative drive after making a miscue down the backstretch. He can close for a share. Race 8: FILLIES & MARES, CLAIMING $20,000 FOR NW $60,000 (OS $75,000) LIFETIME. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE. AE: N/A $1,640 P/S IN 2024-25. (4) ALLSMOKEANDMIRRORS could get a setup in this spot if there’s as much gate speed as I predict. She has been right there at the wire in recent starts. I’ll look for her to get the job done tonight. (7) SUPERIOR DELIGHT has been the clear horse to beat for many weeks now at this level. A must use on exotics. (3) INUKSHUK SALLY has been sharp as of late, and has only missed the board twice this season. She could also be put in play early and grab a good piece. (1) KIERA SEELSTER comes back following a judges scratch and a decent fourth against tougher competition. She could find herself with a good trip if handled aggressively from the rail, but I’ll slot her underneath tonight. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 9: POP UP SERIES: FILLIES & MARES CLAIMING $8,000 FOR NW $5,000 LAST 5 STARTS. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE. LEG 2. AE: LEG 1 STARTERS. (5) ACEFORTYFOUR DAISY ships to the big track after a first over trip at Georgian Downs. She will likely take the bulk of the betting support with leading driver James Macdonald getting the call. I’ll side with her tonight as she races off the claim. (1) STAY PUMPED has picked up minor shares in her last two, but is a mare that jumps up with a strong effort every once in a while when she gets the right trip. She can add value to the exotics. (3) KATYS DELIGHT raced well in her latest to finish fourth after sitting at the back. She picks up Bob McClure tonight who can get her into the race sooner and give her a chance to at least hit the board. (6) MISSY ROCKS has taken a lot of air in recent starts, spending a lot of time on the outside. If she finds a live helmet, she can close for a share. Race 10: FILLIES & MARES NW 2 RACES OR $30,000 (OS $37,500) LIFETIME. (7) STORMONT BEAUTIFUL looms as the big favorite over this group. Her last two races at this level were both strong, and she most recently held her own in a Gold. Her style can get her into trouble, but that doesn’t appear likely against this group. (8) STOVID completely outraced her odds two back and trotted a solid mile in her latest despite fading back to sixth. McNair will more than likely be aggressive and get her in a spot to do some serious damage. (2) LILY LACE has excuses in recent efforts that can be forgiven, and should provide a square number if you want to take a shot against the favorite. I personally don’t, but I think she can sit close and produce a strong finish. (5) SHAMPOO GIRL was handled aggressively in two of her last three starts and was right there at the wire in both. She can sit a good trip and get a piece. (9) IVY LYNN will put it all together one of these weeks, and could provide value in exotics tonight if Billy Davis is aggressive from the outside. She can complete the Hi-5 tonight.
