Race 1: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 2. 2 YEAR OLD TROTTING FILLIES. STARTING FEE $400 CDN ($315 USD).

(3) THANKFUL IN NORTH started to gap inside when the pace quickened but closed nicely under a tight J-Mac hold. (1) TH FRANCESCA lost momentum after shifting outside to potentially avoid a horse in front of her. She re-engaged quickly on nice cover and even took the lead at a giant number. If repeated, she’ll be right there. (8) HOUSTONWEAVAPROBLEM is progressing nicely and got the jump on her main rival last time.

Race 2: HORSES & GELDINGS CLAIMING $20,000 FOR NW $30,000 (OS $56,500) LIFETIME. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE. AE: NW $750 LAST 3 STARTS.

(4) SECRET SOCIETY was an unknown when shipping in from New Jersey but wound up getting the job done after an outside journey. He should be right there again. (5) HAPPY IN CONTROL has kicked nicely in recent weeks and should be passing horses late. (7) CATITUDE went too quick too early and it cost him. A different trip could see him close for a piece.

Race 3: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GOLD LEG 2. 2 YEAR OLD TROTTING FILLIES. STARTING FEE $900 CDN ($700 USD).

(5) VERILY ripped off cover and rallied sharply to win on debut. It was a visually impressive effort that is hard to ignore. (4) NORTHERN SONG wound up parked for the mile last week. It never felt like she had a chance to win, but she raced well despite that trip. We’ll see if she can work out a better trip. (2) REBEL MOON is progressing nicely and got the job done in leg one of the Gold. Should be a competitive race.

Race 4: 4 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $10,500 OR LESS 2 RACES) RACE OR $10,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES.

(2) WILD ROSE HANOVER’s lack of gate speed left her third over and in a spot that she couldn’t win from. She’ll break her maiden soon. (4) CHEX MIX produced her best career effort last time and appears to be trending in the right direction. (1) MONKEY TALK is logical given the big post switch. He is a consistent horse who should be in the mix.

Race 5: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 2. 2 YEAR OLD TROTTING FILLIES. STARTING FEE $400 CDN ($315 USD).

(3) GREEN SILVERADO was excellent in her debut and appears like the filly to beat. (1) QUEEN G was closing nicely last week. I think she will continue progressing tonight and be in the mix. (10) STORMONT VIOLET was the beneficiary of a wide open inside lane but she sprinted away nicely with a burst of speed. She has more to show us, but the draw doesn’t help.

Race 6: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 2. 2 YEAR OLD TROTTING FILLIES. STARTING FEE $400 CDN ($315 USD).

(10) PEACHY DEE followed sharp cover and tucked into the pocket before making a miscue. She may not have liked stopping and starting like that. I’ll try her again. (6) SPOILED TO A T was closing nicely and made a good impression on debut. She appears versatile and should be in the mix no matter where she gets away. (2) TIME TO ROLL NORTH hasn’t sold me yet but her latest was a step in the right direction.

Race 7: 2 YEAR OLD FILLIES: NW 1 RACE OR $10,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES.

(6) EMMA DEO worked her way to the outside and closed nicely on debut. She is a clear “watch list” horse from that effort and should take a lot of support. (5) APPERTINO couldn’t quite hold off Dewenitforthemoni on debut, who tried an Ohio Sire Stake the other night. A forward trip could be enough in a lackluster field. (1) TIC TAC FASHION appeared just even in the final quarter in my opinion. Though :57 and change could be enough to get her a piece.

Race 8: FILLIES & MARES, 4 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 RACE (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $10,500 OR LESS 2 RACES) OR $10,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES.

(10) ALWAYS BE EMMA paced a big mile in just her second career start. The connections have figured her out quickly. I’ll give her the nod despite a wide draw. (6) SWEET MARY LOU showed some promise at two and appears to have developed given her form in PA and the morning preps. (9) CHRISTINE MICK VEE has been progressing nicely at Grand River and could have more speed to show on the bigger track. I’m not sure what trip she gets, however.

Race 9: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GOLD LEG 2. 2 YEAR OLD TROTTING FILLIES. STARTING FEE $900 CDN ($700 USD).

(2) MAJOR CONTENDER was flying late in her debut and I initially thought she got up. She is one of many logical fillies in what should shape up to be an extremely competitive race. (4) COLD BREEZE was one of a few fillies who raced behind dull cover last time, but she responded much better and only missed by half a length. (8) JYN ERSO had to navigate to the outside after being shut out for room from the pocket. I expect her to be forwardly placed again.

Race 10: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 2. 2 YEAR OLD TROTTING FILLIES. STARTING FEE $400 CDN ($315 USD).

(6) CANADIAN QUEEN made a sharp recovery after an early miscue and still had plenty of trot left when racing between horses. (2) ELUSIVE STATION has looked very professional in both morning outings and is likely to continue progressing for top connections. (5) BEBA BLUE CHIP closed nicely on debut but had to settle for second. She should be in the mix again.

Race 11: HORSES & GELDINGS CLAIMING $8,000. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE.

(1) GLORYVIEW IMAGE went wire to wire last week and will likely be setting the pace at some point during tonight’s mile. (7) ROYAL JK closed nicely after maneuvering to the outside, but he likely needs a setup here. Tough to read. (5) SKYLAR got away last while being the odds on favorite. He is another who is tough to get a read on right now.
