Woodbine Mohawk Park: Analysis for Thursday 7/2

Garnet Barnsdale|Jun 30, 2020
Mohawk Logo 1.5

Meet Stats: 54/177 / $313.60 (-$40.40

Best Bets: 9/17 / $32.60 (-$1.40)

Spot Plays: 6/17 / $45.10 (+11.10)

Best Bet: WARRAWEE VICKY (3RD)

Spot Play: LIFELONG WISH (6TH)

Early Pick 5: 1,2,8/3,7,8,9/6/2,10/1,2 = $9.60

Late Pick 5: 3,5,8/5,9/3,9/2,5,7/1,5,8 = $21.60

Early Pick 4: 2,10/1,2/3,5,8/5,9 = $24

Late Pick 4: 5,9/3,9/2.5.7/1,5,8 = $36

Race 1: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES GOLD 3YO FILLIES **GTD $75,000 Pick 5**

(1) WINE RACK HANIOVER was conservatively driven last time racing against a couple of tough colts and she likely got the tightener she needed there. It’s go time now with $73K on the line. (8) PRINCESSPARTYPANTS showed she is ready for this Gold event by trotting a 55 flat back 1/2 and she should be right there if she gets a decent trip. (2) MASSIVE FLIRT has a perfect record when she trots and while she will probably have to be faster here, she can be up to it if she behaves; using. (3) SUSIES LADY shows nothing but wins on her card recently but in this spot, I prefer to use her underneath.

Race 2: CLAIMING HANDICAP $10,000 to $12,000

(7) COOL ROCK drops again after chasing the razor-sharp Quan Blue Chip for two straight weeks. This is a good spot for him to finally get of the schneid. (9) STATE OF PLAY also drops into a spot where he should have a chance and post 9 will ensure a good price; using. (8) OUTLAW GUNPOWDER didn’t use much energy beating easier at Georgian Downs the other night and he is hard to leave out. (3) OSIRIS BLUE CHIP was rock solid winning last week but I doubt he gets the same unstressed trip here; your call.

Race 3: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES GOLD 3YO FILLIES

(6) WARRAWEE VICKY had a perfect tightener for this now she races against her own age group and gender and she will no doubt be pointed to the front by McNair leaving the gate; top call. (5) KOMBUCHA has faced the same tough filly in two straight and she should be a threat here. (4) FLUFF showed she had high speed by trotting a 26 4/5 third 1/4 and she is capable with the right trip. (7) MODERN MASS has been good so far this summer but from out there I see her finishing on the edges.

Race 4: 3YO NW1 or $7,000 LT Pick 4

(2) LYONS SKIPPER paced a big mile last week which included a 55 flat middle 1/2 and he stayed game right to the wire. He should be tough to beat here. (10) MENLO PARK showed good speed both early and late in his sophomore debut and he should be a player in here. (4) HE REFUSES TO LOSE looks good on paper, but he was a bit one-paced last week and never a real threat to win the race. I wouldn’t take a short price here. (7) FULL VIEW is capable of better and perhaps he needed that last start; consider for the exotics.

Race 5: Starters for a Purse of $9,000 or Less in One of Last 3 Starts

(2) RACEMUP produced a strong race from the 9-hole last time now he draws inside, and he looks clearly best vs. these. (1) SABINE PASS was racing well here before that narrow loss as chalk at Georgian. He’s the other one that I’ll use on multi-race tickets. (4) JAY EYE EM has improving form and he can take a share here. (8) DOWN ON MY LUCK had a great record last year now making his fourth start he picks up McNair; consider for the exotics at a price.

Race 6: 2-Year Olds Pick 5

(8) LIFELONG WISH has an experience edge on most of these and that initial start was decent. He gets a slight nod here over (5) ROOKIE SEASON who qualified powerfully and looks like the main danger. (3) WICKENBURGH is the first son of a dam that earned more than $385,000 and was stakes-placed in Grand Circuit events raced over this track. He showed some late zip in his only qualifier and he wouldn’t be the worst stab on this card. (7) GREG, a $45,000 Lexington sale purchase, is by the top Ontario trotting sire and is worth a look for the exotics in this debut.

Race 7: CLAIMING HDCP $15,000 to $20,000 Pick 4

This race appears to be a battle of the Blue Chips and I’ll side with (5) BUDDHA BLUE CHIP, who rallied well from an impossible spot last time and he gets his nose back on the gate tonight. (9) QUAN BLUE CHIP has never been better, and he is hard to toss from late multi-race tickets despite drawing widest. (3) E L WILD SPIRIT should be passing many of these late; using underneath. (4) LEADER TONIGHT can get a good trip near the front here and he is worth a look at a price.

Race 8: 3YO NW1 or $7,000

(3) SPARTAN GENERAL raced well twice while in against OSS Gold types. The company is easier here and this should be graduation night for him. (9) ANGEL NATION comes out of the same race as the choice and that was a decent debut effort; Exacta factor at a price. (7) MEADOWBRANCH NOBLE was trotting up a storm late but he could get over bet here considering his past gait issues; your call. (4) D PROCRASTINATOR can be an exotics factor here if he stays flat this time.

Race 9: 4YO and Younger NW1 or $7,000 LT

(5) GP DREAMIN has looked great taking two wins so far this year, now she steps into the deep end, but she should be up to it. (7) JULA SHES MAGIC is almost sure to improve off her seasonal debut, but she may also provide a golden pocket trip to the choice here. (2) P L NOTSONICE was third in a Grand Circuit race here last year so you know the ability is there. She gets a positive driver change here, too; using. (3) MAGIC CAPE makes a jump to Golds off one start and she is worth a look for the bottom of the exotics on the barn change.

Race 10: 4YO and Younger NW2 or $16,500 LT

(1) LUCID DREAMS got a sweet pylon ride in the lane last week, but he knew what to do with it and paced away to an easy win; call to repeat. (8) UNIQUE BEACH was no secret last time, getting hammered down to 8 to 5 and winning as he pleased. He should be right there again. (5) SIDDHARTHA may get hammered at the windows off that 25 1/5 kicker last time and I won’t take a short price on a horse that may again be far back early. (10) MY BETTORS DEL should come on late again to take a small share. (4) OUTLAW STATEOFMIND qualified well for this. Give him a look for the bottom of the Super and High-5.
