Woodbine Mohawk Park: Analysis for Thursday 6/9

Garnet Barnsdale|Jun 07, 2022
Mohawk Logo 1.5

Meet Stats: 265 - 864 / $1,465.30 (-$262.70)

Best Bets: 45 -- 82 / $147.50 (-$16.50)

Spot Plays: 26 -- 82 / $175.60 (+$11.60)

Best Bet: HEAVENS PIC (5TH)

Spot Play: MYWISHLISTFORYOU (7TH)

Early Pick 5: 1,2,6/1,2/2,4/1,6,8/4,9 = $14.40

Late Pick 5: 4,5,6,7/9,10/1,6/4,5/2,3,10 = $19.20

Early Pick 4: 1,6,8/4,9/4,5,6,7/9,10 = $48

Late Pick 4: 9,10/1,6/4,5/2,3,10 = $24

Race 1: F&M 4YO and Younger NW1 or $7,000 LT **Guaranteed $100,000 Pick 5**

Debutante (2) KIKIWAKA qualified faster than most of these race for purses and she should have a good chance of breaking her maiden at first asking tonight. (6) CLASSIC MAGIC had a start back vs. tougher and now she is in with maidens. She should get put into this race tonight and she stacks up well here; using (1) ARCHSRAINBOW finished slightly ahead of Classic Magic last time and she is another that should improve with class relief tonight. (3) REGAL LASS needs a clean line here. I think she sits and rallies for a slice.

[DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card]

Race 2: F&M 4YO and Younger NW1 or $7,000 LT

This race looks like it will come down to two fillies with (1) DARBY OGILL prevailing over (2) SAKE TUMI to break her maiden in this short field. (6) BROOKDALE GRACE showed brief speed last time then stopped. I think she sits and rallies for a share here. (3) ALLA PRIMA looks next best and she can take a share off an inside following trip.

[DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Mohawk Park card at DRF Bets.com!]

Race 3: 5YO and Younger NW2 (F&M3)

This is a likely spot for (2) EVIL GUY, who just finished 3rd in OSS Gold company and he should get an aggressive Henry drive; top call. (4) ILBENEEDINSTITCHES had a decent comeback race and she should be tighter now. She looks like one of the main contenders in this field; using. (7) HERSHEY SEELSTER was 3rd vs. similar two starts back and she should be in the exotics mix in this short field. (6) ROYAL CHAMPANE was getting good at the end of last season racing in Grassroots. He probably sits and rallies here in his sophomore debut.

Race 4: Claiming $15,000 to $18,000 for NW $72,000 LT Pick 4

(1) THATS A BEACH passed them all in the final 3/4 of a mile last week, which isn't something you see every night at this track, and there are two fewer horses to pass in this field; call to repeat. (8) PERPETUAL ROCK has three wins in his past five starts with Sorrie driving and he has the gate speed to get position from his wide post. He is one of several in with a chance in this dash. (6) BELIEVE IN BRIAN always appears on the scene in the final 1/8th but sometimes he gets out-tripped. He is another multi-race option. (5) HELLO ROCKY has improved in his past couple of starts and he never gets bet. He should be in the exotics mix again tonight.

Race 5: 4YO and Younger NW1 or $7,000 LT

(9) HEAVENS PIC raced well last week chasing a big chalk around the track and I like that he showed big gate speed in that race. He can wire this group. (4) FORREST improved with MacDonald in the bike for the first time and he finished less than a length behind the choice. I can see him getting a more aggressive steer this time and he is the other one that I'll use on multi-race tickets. (5) THE PINBALL WIZARD looks faster at 3 and he can take a share in this sophomore debut. (8) BARROOM BRAWL BOYS will no doubt be blasting off the gate and I see him lasting for a small share.

Race 6: 3YO Fillies Grassroots Starters Pick 5

(7) BABY LONGSTOCKING has looked good trotting her final quarters in two straight races and she is the one to beat here having taken the fastest mark of any of these last week. (5) STORMONT MABEL, the other Grassroots winner last week, could get the jump on the choice here and she should be the main threat. (6) MVN moves off the rail to the best post and he gets Christoforou in the bike tonight. I can see him rallying for a share at a price tonight. (4) SILVER DIAMOND, 2nd to the choice last week, should be in the exotics mix again.

Race 7: Pop-Up Series F&M 2nd Leg Pick 4

(9) MYWISHLISTFORYOU rallied well last week and Macdonald appears to have chosen her over the #3 here, who won the first leg. She should get a setup here and offer a square price starting from out there; top call. (10) KICKIN COWGIRL was an easy winner at 2-5 last week over some of these and she should contend here despite drawing widest. (3) GYPSY MERLOT was perfectly driven to win last week but that was a sharp effort considering she had missed a month. She can't be easily tossed. (4) WHATINEEDISAMAN should be passing rivals late again to take a share.

Race 8: NW3 (F&M5) or $40,000 (F&M $50,000)

(6) CENTURY INVADER drops out of Gold company for this and he should handle these if he gets put into the race early enough. (1) VALI HANOVER was one of many trying in vain to chase down a leader that was powering away from the field. He should be closer to the lead tonight and I'll use him on late multi-race tickets. (4) UNBEATABLE KEMP flew late last time but the winner was just too tough. He switches MacDonalds in the bike for this and I'll use him underneath. (5) KEVIN ANTHONY got a clear run up the inside to nail the leaders in NW2. He likely takes a small share.

Race 9: 3YO Fillies Grassroots Starters

(5) DEWITT FOR JOSIE raced tough in London, but no one was beating the winner that made a powerful swoop of the field in the third 1/4 and paced clear. She has a good chance vs. these. (4) RAPTORS WON was a winner on the same night as the choice raced and MacDonald sticks with her when he had some options here. She should be the main threat. (2) VELVET STINGER was rough in spots for the first 3/4 of the race in London and only smoothed out her gait when sent wide on the last turn. She should be better on the big track but there is some obvious risk with this filly. I'd need a price here. (6) GOUDAWON had a clear run up the pylons last week but she could do no better than 6th; small share predicted tonight.

Race 10: 4YO and Younger NW1 or $7,400 LT

(2) WEST IS BEST raced great from the widest post at big odds to just miss last week then was sent back a couple of spots for a pylon violation. He looks best here; top call. (3) DRAGON CITY comes off a big maiden win but he didn't beat much then. He's an obvious contender but no lock in this field. (10) ROY ROGERS was right there with the choice in his debut and he is worth using here because his price will be good from post 10. (5) TWIN B JAMMER should be good for a share if he stays flat tonight. (6) SPORT ADDICTION, who was first-up last time, likely sits and rallies for a share this time.
