Race 1: F&M NW $3,000 L5 or $7,000 L10 **GTD $75,000 Pick 5**
(6) Y C BROADWAY had two starts back both from post 10 that weren't great, but they weren’t terrible either. With his nose back on the gate tonight, I'll take a shot with him to beat likely heavy chalk (10) DR SPENGLER, who is an obvious contender but likely to be over bet. (3) MUSICAL SPELL gets back to the level where he performs best, and he should start quicker here; using underneath. (9) CANTABERNET's seasonal debut wasn't bad but post 9 likely relegates him to a smaller share.
Race 2: F&M NW $6,000 L5 or $13,000 L10 AE: OPT CLM $18,000
(1) SPORTY TORI gets to drop a few class levels here and she should get more aggressive early in this race; top call. (6) LYONS HEDGEABET gets a much better post here and she should wake up in this spot where she fits well; using. (7) THIS DRAGON ROCKS closed sharply at this level last time and she is another possibility for this Pick 5. (3) WATCH MY LUCK is another dropper who should improve here but I prefer to use her underneath.
Race 3: F&M NW $3,000 L5 or $8.700 L10 AE: NW $800 L4
(4) LADIES FROM HELL raced tough twice in a row at Hanover in races open to both genders and she is unlikely to get bet much here; call to upset. (9) BETTER SINGLE has been firing home fast, but she has been out of range. Filion may have her closer here early and she is another upset possibility in a wide-open race. (1) HIGHMOON SUNSHINE passed eight horses in the final 3/4 last time in a solid effort. She should beat at least a few of these into the first turn and that gives her a shot in here. (3) LA ALWAYS A MARTINI figures in here if she can stay flat. This isn’t a race where I'd accept a short price on any of them.
Race 4: 4YO and Younger NW2 (F&M 3) or $20,000 (F&M $25,000) - Pick 4
(7) ANGRY EYES raced evenly in her seasonal bow and I imagine she will get more aggressive here in her second start back. I'm going with her to try to beat (5) PEMBERTON, who was phenomenal last week here at $77.90 to 1. I just can’t take $77 to 1 less now off that one race on a horse with a driver who isn’t a WEG regular, but I understand he can beat me. (10) DELILAH SEELSTER was a decent third to a good-looking trotting colt and she should get a piece of this. (4) QUESO FRESCO trotted a 56-flat back 1/2 last time. She’ll be passing some of these late; using on the bottom.
Race 5: Claiming Handicap $15,000 to $18,000
(1) COOL ROCK was out a long way and stayed game last week. McNair is going to trip him out and get him across one of these times and this race could provide the perfect set up; slight nod. (9) QUAN BLUE CHIP just took a new life’s mark now he moves go the worst post in a race where there is clearly other early speed to deal with. What price will you accept? (2) TRAGICALLY ZIP closed well in a fast mile last time and he should be closer early which gives him an upset chance in here. (6) STATE OF PLAY had no luck last week, following a dead flow. He could hit the ticket at a nice price here.
Race 6: 2-Year-Olds - Pick 5
(5) BLACK TIE BASH trotted his final 3/4 in 1:25 4/5 on June 18th and on paper he is clearly best here although taking odds-on on a rookie trotter in his debut isn't a move that makes men rich. (8) HIGHLAND MOWGLI’s 27 4/5 kicker makes him interesting as a Pick 4 and Pick 5 back up play in case the choice falters. (3) CRAZY GOODBYE was seven lengths behind the choice, but that was a decent qualifying effort and he can get a piece here. (4) SHOULDAKNOWNBETTOR closed mildly in his qualifier and he may be coming on late to round out the Tri or Super.
Race 7: NW $6,000 L5 or $13,000 L10 AE: OPT CLM $20,000 - Pick 4
(6) MISTER MAGIC comes to play every week and he gets a much better post this time; top call. (4) MEADOWBRANCH MEMO is one to consider for the Exacta solely off the Budd claim. (5) H P TITANIA RUNNER is getting closer and she might roll by these late if she is within range at the 1/8th pole. (10) NEON LIGHTS should be passing a few of these late; using on the bottom.
Race 8: 3YO NW1 or $7,000 LT
(4) HE REFUSES TO LOSE was dead game despite being uncovered a long way last week. He gets top call vs. these. (6) LYONS LIBERTY should move forward of his decent opener; Exactor factor. (3) LUCID DREAMS exits a fast race and he should be close early. He should be in the Tri in this short field. (7) TINT OF MINT was only 1 1/2 lengths behind the choice last time, and he is another to consider for Tri and Super wagers.
Race 9: 4YO and Younger NW1 or $7,000 LT
(8) MIKEY MASS made front early, took a shuffle then re-rallied with a 27 1/5 kicker. He may go right down the road vs. this group. (3) LADY TITAN is an $85,000 Lexington purchase who is a 1/2-sister to Seven and Seven who won both the Wellwood Memorial and Define The World on this track. She is worth a look here at first asking. (10) HETALKSTOANGELS may have needed one seeing as he disappointed as the 1 to 2 choice. He can rebound here and is one I'll use in multi-race tickets. (5) RUKIDDINME BLUECHIP rallied well last week and he should be closing late again here to take another share.
Race 10: 4YO and Younger F&M NW2 or $15,000 LT
(2) SAUBLE DELIGHTFUL got squashed from either side just as she looked like she might be making a winning move between horses in the stretch last week. She gets top call here. (6) COVER STORY was a bit sluggish on the last turn, but she fired down the lane to just miss; using. (8) MAJOR BATTLE tried to make a move to the front, but the pocket sitter popped out and beat her to it, leaving her hung out to dry. She gets her nose on the gate here and she could pop at a price with a trip. (3) CENTURY GIANNA finally gets a good post to work from and she should improve here and take a share in this spot. (5) TRAGICALLY HEP comes off a nice win at Georgian but these are tougher, and I'll use her on the bottom only.
