Woodbine Mohawk Park: Analysis for Thursday 6/17

Garnet Barnsdale|Jun 15, 2021
Mohawk Logo 1.5

Meet Stats: 10/31-$44.00 (-$18.00)

Best Bets: 2/3-$5.00 (-$1.00)

Spot Plays: 0/2-$0.00 (-$4.00)

Best Bet: WICKENBURGH (1ST)

Spot Play: WESTERN WISH (10TH)

Early Pick 5: 4,5/1,4,7/7,9/6,8/5,7,8 = $14.40

Late Pick 5: 5,6/1,4,6/3,4/1,4,5/3,4 = $14.40

Early Pick 4: 6,8/5,7,8/5,6/1,4,6 = $36

Late Pick 4: 1,4,6/3,4/1,4,5/3,4 = $36

Race 1: 4YO and Younger NW1 or $7,000 LT **$100K GTD Pick 5**

(5) WICKENBURGH already won at this class level in Indiana then he faced tougher twice. His recency edge should give him an excellent chance to take his second win tonight. (4) MUSCLE BUILDER showed promise in his first two starts and he could get a great trip here racing near the front; using. (1) H P RUNNING MASS should improve here in his second start and he could add some value to the exotics; using underneath. (9) JMR NIKMUS improved sharply when he raced equipped with trotting hopples. He isn't out of this but the wide post could make it tough.

Race 2: Starters for $15K Clm or Less in 1 of Last 3 that are also NW $75K LT

(7) PORTRSTOWNCHRIS IR is right there every week and he should be able to work out a winning trip in this short field. (4) RADLEY HANOVER was an easy winner when Henry took over the reins in his last start before the break and he took a lot of action at the windows that night. His even qualifier should make his price viable in this spot. (1) CHIEFS BEACH will be closing late and he can beat these with the right trip. (2) SPECTRUM SEELSTER is sure to be blasting to the front for hot connections, but I prefer to use him underneath in this spot.

Race 3: F&M 4YO and Younger NW1 or $7,000

(9) HADIKNOWNBETTER trotted a big mile on the rim to be third in her most recent start in Indiana and if she can work out a reasonable trip tonight, she should break her maiden. (7) EXCLUSIVE ROSETTE qualified nicely for this racing over an off track and she should be in the hunt tonight. (5) R PRECIOUS PEARL was third at a huge price when last seen and McClure takes the return drive; using underneath. (3) THREADS OF SILK is worth a look for the exotics making her debut for a top trotting barn.

Race 4: Claiming $17,500 for NW $25,000 LT - Pick 4

(6) BRILLIANT CORNERS won his first start last year and he has qualified better for this drop into a claimer than he did for that debut win. He should be formidable against this kind. (8) GAUDI KIR flashed home in 26 3/5 in his qualifier on 6/10 and that potent late speed should serve him well here; using. (1) GROOGRUX KING got to stretch his legs from the 8 hole at Grand River last week and he showed some late interest. I can see him hitting the ticket here. (3) RAISE YOU TWENTY goes for a barn that has done well since racing resumed. Give him a look for the exotics.

Race 5: 4YO and Younger NW2 or $15,000 LT

(7) TWIN B HEART THROB made several moves in an impressive maiden-breaking score last week and he gets the call to repeat. (8) CANTSTOPLYING was flying late and he is likely going to be the one to fend off here; using. (5) CENTURY HANNIBAL is hard to toss considering he just won at the NW3 level in Pennsylvania. (4) LAST BET can improve at a price moving inside several post positions; using on the bottom.

Race 6: F&M 4YO and Younger NW1 or $7,000 LT - Pick 5

(5) WEE JILL is a homebred 1/2-sister to several good ones, including $790,000 earner Rock Of Cashel. She looks ready for a top effort on debut and this isn't a tough spot; top call. (6) TANZANITE TRIXX qualified well for a stable that sends them ready and she is the only winner in the field. Expect an aggressive try here. (7) LINDAS PRIDE showed some talent in Quebec last year and Roy is likely to put her into the race early. She is another possibility for multi-race tickets. (9) WAIKIKI WAVE should fit well vs. these but from a wide post I'll use her underneath.

Race 7: 4YO and Younger NW1 or $7,000 LT - Pick 4

(4) BETTORS AUTHORITY, a $25,000 Harrisburg buy, is a full-brother to two that both raced well in their debuts and I'll take a swing with this colt in this wide-open race. (6) NORTHERN BACCARAT was game in defeat in a nice effort when last seen in April and he qualified well for this; using. (1) POWERTRAIN showed in his last two qualifiers that he's ready for action and he should have the speed to go with these. He’s on my multi- race tickets. (7) LIFETIMEEXPERIENCE should benefit by racing in May and he gets hot driver McNair tonight. Consider for the exotics.

Race 8: 4YO and Younger NW2 (F&M3) or $20,000 (F&M $25,000)

(4) CLASSY CAROL came out firing last week and she produced a sharp winning effort. This spot doesn't look any tougher. Call to repeat. (3) WARAWEE WHISPER is capable of better than he showed at Pocono when he was bet down to 4 to 5. He is the main foe to the choice. (1) SPUN FROM MAGIC showed improvement in his last couple of starts and he is a good one to use in the exotics here. (5) CIAO BABY HALL isn’t out of place here but she may need a start or two before reaching peak form; using on the bottom.

[DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Mohawk Park card at DRF Bets.com!]

Race 9: NW $3,300 L5 or $7,000 L9

(5) ST LADS THRILLER was no match for a sharp winner last week but that was a decent try and a similar effort could get the job done tonight. (1) HEISMAN PLAYER is in easier here and he picks up Henry which should mean an aggressive steer is coming; using. (4) MIKEY CAMDEN is worth a look for the exotics on the barn change. (7) CORTEZ THE KILLER took some action at the windows last week but he raced only evenly. He could make it into the Super tonight.

Race 10: F&M 4YO and Younger NW2 or $17,000 LT

(4) WESTERN WISH produced a wicked final 1/4 to beat aged pacers of both genders in her most recent start in PEI and she was sold to her current connections. She gets top call making her Mohawk debut racing out of the Auciello barn. (3) POSTSCRIPT raced against the best local rookie pacers last year and she wasn't disgraced. This is a good spot for her sophomore debut and she should be right there. (2) DABARNDAWGSWATCHING comes off a solid rookie campaign and she should contend for a share vs. these. (1) THE KINGS QUEEN figures to improve with a race under her belt and moving off the 9-hole; using underneath. (6) BOTTOMOFTHENINTH is another that should improve as she too gets post relief here.
