Top Pick Stats: 2/12 (-$19.40) Best Bets: 0/1 (-$2.00); Spot Plays: 0/1 (-$2.00) Best Bet: DELON (Race 3) Spot Play: HAPPY ANGEL (Race 5) Early Pick 5: 2,9/4,6/7/1,5,7/2   $2.40 Late Pick 5: 5/2/2,4,5,7/4/3,9   $1.60 Race 1: FILLIES & MARES, 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 RACE (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $9,000 OR LESS 2 RACES) OR $8,500 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES. (2) BUDDIES DREAM was logically handled conservatively in her career debut, but that meant she took a shuffle down the backstretch. She showed late life on the end of her mile when she had room. There appears to be some potential with this filly, and she could find the winner’s circle as early as her second lifetime start. (9) FRENCHMONI HANOVER is a stone cold closer and is likely to get away towards the back of the pack, but she made up a ton of ground in the back half of her latest mile when adding Lasix. Another step forward could see her pass a ton of horses late. (5) HIGHLANDSTARBURST was ambitiously spotted in some top level stakes in her two year old season, but has come back with two solid qualifiers. A step forward could see her land on the ticket off the bench. (1) SHESAMANALISHI was a beaten favorite after an overland trip at Western Fair. She hasn’t missed the board in her career and can pick up a piece tonight. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: CLAIMING HANDICAP $8,000 TO $11,000. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE. ENTER IN MULTIPLES OF $1,000. (4) BET NINTEEN gets some post relief after a strong second place finish where he made two moves. Look for his strong form to continue. (6) BETTOR THAN PRIDE is also extremely sharp right now. He got the better of Bet Ninteen in his latest. He should have every chance to get a big piece again tonight. (2) HERESTHATMANAGAIN is a hard knocking claimer that always seems to get a piece no matter the trip. He isn’t the quickest off the gate, but a trip behind the dueling leaders can land him on the ticket. (5) LADYFORD DOLLAR GB took significant support when shipping in on April 17, which caught my eye. Now, he returns to Mohawk off the claim for the Tierney barn. He can hold on for a share if handled aggressively. Race 3: NW 2 (FM 3) RACES OR $22,500 (OS $27,850) LIFETIME. AE: MARES NW $6,500 LAST 10 STARTS. (7) DELON moved off cover at the top of the stretch and trotted by for a win in his career debut. He offers plenty of upside, and appears to have some versatility if you trust the April 25 qualifier. He is a major win candidate and will be my Best Bet of the evening. (6) P L SAPPHIRE looked like she might be in trouble at the top of the stretch, but McClure found an opening along the inside, and she trotted through to finish a strong second. Expect her to be up close, which could see her earn another major piece. (3) SUSHI BAR has made up plenty of ground in his last two races. If he’s able to sustain his move, he can hit the ticket. (4) FRENCH VODKA took plenty of support in his latest after his closing effort on May 9, but made a break in stride. He remains a major question mark. If he stays flat, he can pick up at least a minor share. Race 4: CLAIMING $20,000 FOR NW $30,000 (OS $37,550) LIFETIME. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE. AE: 4 YR OLDS N/A $1,125 P/S IN 2025 (MIN 10 STARTS). AE: NW $4,500 IN 2025. (1) ABOVEMYPAYGRADE showed great late pace in his latest to finish a strong second. He was coming up on the main pack extremely quickly, but had to wait for a fading horse and it caused his momentum to slow. He still came forward in the final sixteenth despite that which was impressive. If he finds a live helmet, he should be very dangerous. (5) BRUDON had a tough trip when racing off the claim for the Auciello barn. He was first over from sixth, but wasn’t catching the favorite in that race. I thought he battled well to nearly snag a minor share, and could step forward in his second start on Lasix. (7) B SONNY lost his cover almost immediately in his latest, which made his job a bit tougher. He was another that was battling between horses, and one who I think can land on the ticket. (3) WORLD REVIVAL was closer to the lead last week, which gave him a much better chance to unleash his late move. He can close for at least a minor share. Race 5: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $9,000 OR LESS 2 RACES) RACE OR $8,500 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES. (2) HAPPY ANGEL was moving extremely well in the final 20 strides of his latest when an opening materialized up the inside. He finished fourth, but was a long nose away from second. If he’s in a striking position turning for home, I think he is dangerous. (3) KENOGAMI MAT was able to sit close and wait as long as Roy wanted before pulling to the outside. He trotted home strongly in the lane and finished a strong second. He appears to be the one to beat assuming he minds his manners. (6) YOU GUESSED IT makes his three-year-old debut after a lightly raced freshman campaign. His latest qualifier and addition of Lasix shows that he might be more ready off the bench than people think. He draws a perfect post to be put in play if that is the case. (9) FIREFLIESNTHUNDER was in a much tougher NW1 group in his career debut. He attempted to go forward off the car, but had to take back and eventually got shuffled. The post is the only thing preventing me from putting him higher. I think improvement is likely against this group. Race 6: FILLIES & MARES, CLAIMING $20,000 FOR NW $60,000 (OS $91,000) LIFETIME. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE. AE: N/A $1,390 P/S LAST 5 STARTS. (5) SUPERIOR DELIGHT never looked better than last week, winning in a career best time on the front end. She is at the top of her game right now and can make it three wins in a row. (1) JOB HUNTER set a wicked first half tempo that gave her plenty of reason to tire. Now, she races off the claim for top class connections. It’s to see her not bouncing back. Interesting to see how these top two will be bet. (7) QUIET ASSURANCES tried different tactics last week and ended up best of the rest behind Superior Delight. A similar mid-pack trip could see a similar result tonight. (3) GRAND CIRCUIT has been picking up minor shares as of late. I tend to favor established closer types because we know who will be the early speed. She can pick up another check here. Race 7: NW 2 (FM 3) RACES OR $22,500 (OS $27,850) LIFETIME. AE: MARES NW $6,500 LAST 10 STARTS. (2) CLARISSA W returned to action with a strong second place finish to kick off her sophomore campaign. She should be even sharper tonight and is likely the one to beat. (7) P L SPENCER has some question marks after being scratched sick in his latest, but his race in the Spring Series Final was strong. If he picks up where he left off, he can get a major piece. (1) LIFE AS IT COMES makes his third start off a layoff and appears to be improving. He can pass some horses late to hit the ticket. (4) IVY LYNN has been close to picking up some small shares as of late. The shorter field gives her a better chance to do so tonight. Race 8: CLAIMING $20,000 FOR NW $80,000 LIFETIME. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE. AE: N/A $900 P/S IN 2025. (4) STEELWHEEL HANOVER is in the best form of his career. He sat close to the lead in his latest and it worked just as well. I think he continues his winning ways. (5) PUNCHESINBUNCHES has been a top class pacer at Western Fair, but will try the big track again for the first time since October of 2023. He races off the claim for Tess Waxman and should improve in his second start after a pair of qualifiers. (2) ON TIME DELIVERY is always right in the mix. You can give him any post or any trip, and he will show up on the ticket. A must use in exotics. (7) PHONE NINE ONE ONE paced a strong back half in his latest and can use that late speed to hit the ticket again this week. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 9: NW 2 (FM 3) RACES OR $22,500 (OS $27,850) LIFETIME. AE: MARES NW $6,500 LAST 10 STARTS. (4) ZETTE ATHENA is 3-for-3 to kick off her sophomore season, including an easy win in this class in her latest. She is the obvious one to beat. (1) NASA comes off two strong wins at Western Fair and finds a field he can easily be best of the rest in. (6) KADIDDLE gets a better post this week and finds a shorter field. He won’t be nearly as far back as he has been, and can use his late speed to pass a few horses and hit the ticket. (5) WONDROUS BLUE CHIP rebounded last week to earn a minor check. He can earn another one tonight if he minds his manners. Race 10: FILLIES & MARES, CLAIMING HANDICAP $8,000 TO $11,000. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE. ENTER IN MULTIPLES OF $1,000. (3) DOLLYDAYDREAM battled for the entire length of the stretch after clearing to the lead and just missed. She is racing extremely well right now and merits respect. (9) CORA CORA CORA lost her cover when Dollydaydream cleared to the lead, but kept grinding and was right there in the win picture. The outside draw will be tough, but if she races like that again, it won’t matter. (7) TAMARA HANOVER bailed out the favorite backers when she got up in the final couple strides. I thought she got a pretty good setup in that race, and is likely to be your betting favorite again. She’s hard to leave off tickets. (5) JAZZVILLE has hit the board in each of her last four efforts, including two upset wins. She’ll need to find more to be a win contender, but can definitely pick up a share. (4) WIFEY SAID SO was pretty empty all things considered in the late stages of last week’s race. She could easily rebound, but will take too much support at the windows for my liking.
