Garnet Barnsdale|Apr 30, 2024
Mohawk Logo 1.5

Top Pick Stats: 201 – 630 / $984.60 (-$275.40)

Best Bets: 33 – 59 / $100.40 (-$17.60)

Spot Plays: 8 – 58 / $35.10 (-$81.90)

Best Bet: HIGHLAND KISMET (4TH)

Spot Play: BLUE GLAMBER (10TH)

Early Pick 5: 4,8,9/1,3,5/5,7/1/1,3,10 = $10.80

Late Pick 5: 4,5,6/3,6,10/1,4,9/2,4,5/8 = $16.20

Early Pick 4: 1/1,3,10/4,5,6/3,6,10 = $5.40

Late Pick 4: 3,6,10/1,4,9/2,4,5/8 = $5.40

Race 1: 5YO and younger NW1 or $7,000 LT **Gtd. $100,000 Pick 5**

(4) FINITE stands out in this maiden dash with Grand Circuit lines from last year and a solid qualifier coming to this race. The big question for him seems to be whether he can stay flat. Notice he took the trotting hopples off for his qualifier on 4/11 and he doesn’t wear them here, either. (3) STORMONT HAPPY DAY finished second to a promising looking rival in his sophomore debut and he should be the main threat. (8) FAST APPROACH finished well in both starts and he will get more aggressive one of these weeks and take his maiden win. That might come tonight. (9) LOOKS LIKE AMUSCLE is one of three in here that has already won, and he can take a share if he stays flat tonight.

Race 2: F&M 5YO and younger NW1 or $7,000 LT

0 for 15 (3) TEA LAKE meets a field that she should be able to beat tonight, and I expect Zeron to be aggressive with her; top call. (5) BEACH BANK made a bit of a move in the third 1/4 of her sophomore debut. That’s a race she can build on and she is in with a chance here. (1) C KAN TROT came close in this maiden class a couple of times. She is another that could do here; using. (2) CHOCOLATE EXPRESS looks faster at 3. She can land in the bottom of the exotics here.

Race 3: Claiming $20,000 for NW $55,000 LT

(5) SMOKESTACK knocked more than three seconds off his lifetime mark racing off the Lester claim when he crushed at Flamboro on Sunday, and he gets the call to repeat off that strong winning effort. (7) RJS SUPERFREAK shoots for a threepeat, and his strong current form should be respected. (4) KYLES ART was motoring late, almost catching RJs Superfreak. He is another possibility in a good betting race. (8) SIR A, hung the mile last time, likely drops back and rallies tonight. I can see him closing for a share.

Race 4: 5YO and younger NW1 or $7,000 LT Pick 4

Homebred (1) HIGHLAND KISMET trotted a huge back 1/2 in his lone qualifier and he gets the call to win at first asking here. $100,000 Lexington buy (2) SONIC BOOMER is another debutant that figures to contend in his debut, but keep in mind Determination often isn’t in a hurry with their young trotters. (4) HP RUN DETECTOR has a better chance to take a share tonight getting off the 10-hole; using underneath. (7) DUNVEGAN CASH is getting faster every week and he should be in the exotics mix again.

Race 5: 5YO and younger NW2 (F&M3) or $20,000 LT

(3) READY FOR LANDING raced great last week with A Mac in the bike and now he gets the leading driver. I’ll give him the nod over (1) COOL MA BELLE, who qualified great for this sophomore debut but drew the rail and obviously has bigger fish to fry this summer. (10) BIRTHDAY MONEY is another that qualified well and he has the gate speed to overcome the widest draw; using. (9) NZURI had a good rookie campaign and he can share in this 2024 debut.

Race 6: 5YO and younger winners of 2 (F&M3) but not more than 4 (F&M5) or $45,000 LT Pick 5

(5) YANK MY HALO raced well in defeat to a mare that was winning her fourth start in as many 2024 tries and a similar effort tonight can get him a win; top call. (4) ZIP ME UP is another coming off a sharp effort where he had speed on both ends of the mile. He figures to be a threat right back with his form improving. (6) CACTUSTOTHECLOUDS was aggressive in his second start back, and he was made to work to get to the front then sat a pocket and finished willingly. Drawing best here gives him a chance. (1) MY BUDDY SAM looked good beating NW2 here but these are tougher. I’ll use him underneath.

Race 7: F&M 4YO and younger NW1 or $7,500 LT Pick 4

(3) DONTMESSWITHMOLLY’s debut race last year was good and I like the late speed she has shown leading up to this sophomore debut; slight nod. (10) SEA GLASS has a similar profile and there is likely a lot expected from this $420,000 purchase. She can win here if she gets an aggressive steer starting from the widest post. (6) MATTHEWS RITA finished 2nd to a 1-9 shot last week in what was by far her fastest race to date. She is in the exotics mix again. (9) JACINDA takes frequent shares, and she is a good one to use underneath here.

Race 8: 5YO and younger NW2 (F&M3) or $20,000 LT

(5) NO ONE, a Gold winner at 2, finds a good spot for her sophomore debut and she fired a sub-28 kicker in her most recent qualifier; top call. (4) POOF took a lot of action last week and he led to the stretch but couldn’t fend off the favorite. A similar effort could get him a win here; using. (9) MYFRIENDJOSE was in good form before he broke stride last week. He is another in with a shot to consider for late multi-race tickets. (7) VIKTORY BLUE CHIP puts the trotting hopples back on after breaking stride last time. He can get a share if he stays trotting this time.

Race 9: 5YO and younger NW2 (F&M3) but not more than 4 (F&M5) or $45,000 LT

(5) LMC MR SQUISHY has flourished in the Budd barn, and he races best when he is allowed to roll early in the mile. I’ll give him the nod to score the threepeat. (2) WINNING ALLIANCE is perfect this year and Ratchford has been a good partner for her. She is the one that the choice will likely have to fend off late. (4) KINNDER MOTOWN was a win machine last year and he is worth a look making his first start for Moreau tonight. (1) LOOKSLIKAGOODFELLA woke up on the class drop last week. He can take another slice.

Race 10: F&M CLM HDCP $10,000 to $12,000

(8) BLUE GLAMBER couldn’t seal the deal at 3-5 last week but she was claimed by Barrington and immediate improvement is likely; top call. (2) WATCH HER DEWITT comes in from Flamboro on a roll and Roy is a familiar partner. She should be the main threat here. (10) HILLBILLY JET rallied well to win last week but she draws worst now. I’ll use her underneath. (5) DOLLYDAYDREAM raced okay last week to take a share and she can be part of the exotics again. (1) DIALMEUP tripped-out to win and I don’t see her getting the same trip here stepping up and drawing the rail; using on the bottom.
