Garnet Barnsdale|May 10, 2022
Mohawk Logo 1.5

Meet Stats: 225 -- 706 / $1266.40 (-$145.60)

Meet Stats: 225 -- 706 / $1266.40 (-$145.60)

Best Bets: 41 -- 66 / $134.40 (+$2.40)

Spot Plays: 24 -- 66 / $161.30 (+$29.30)

Best Bet: PRIVATE SCOTT (9TH)

Spot Play: CHARMED KING (3RD)

Early Pick 5: 1,6,7/4,8/2,5,10/7/2,4,6 = $10.80

Late Pick 5: 2,8/3,4,5/5,6/5/1,4,8,10 = $9.60

Early Pick 4: 7/2,4,6/2,8/3,4,5 = $18

Late Pick 4: 3,4,5/5,6/5/1,4,8,10 = $24

Race 1: F&M 4YO and Younger NW1 or $7,000 LT **Guaranteed $100,000 Pick 5**

(1) SILVER DIAMOND should improve by default in this spot getting away from the streaking Hang On Baby; top call to kick off the early Pick 5. (6) HALO ITS HEAVEN has finished 2nd in four of five starts, but she was good in her Mohawk Park debut and she keeps the leading driver tonight. She is an obvious threat. (7) REGAL LASS blasted for position, took a shuffle, then re-rallied for a small share. She is in with a chance here. (3) KABELLE can land in the Super if she stays trotting tonight.

Race 2: F&M 4YO and Younger NW1 or $7,000 LT

(8) FREE AS CAN BE looked home free at the 1/8th pole then a rival kicked into a gear that she just didn't have. She gets the nod here over stablemate (4) MOONLIT AFFAIR, who raced solid in defeat to a big chalk on debut and should be the main foe to the choice tonight. (6) RIBBON RIDGE comes off a solid effort where she was right there in a rapid final 1/4. She should be an exotics factor right back. (3) STONEBRIDGE THALIA improved last week and she can sneak into the bottom of the exotics.

Race 3: 4YO and Younger NW1 or $7,000 LT

(10) CHARMED KING was probably added to many bettors' watch list when he hit the wire in his debut, as he was airborne late. He broke at 3-5 in his next start, then missed three weeks and got the flat line he needed. I'll take a swing with him tonight expecting a good price from the 10-hole as he gets a barn change here. (5) FORREST is another one that I'll use in the early Pick 5 expecting him to improve in a race that will likely go two seconds slower than his most recent race. (2) P P E's sophomore debut is decent and he is another in with a shot. (1) LAUGH NOW should be closer with the addition of Lasix tonight but I prefer to use him underneath.

Race 4: 4YO and Younger NW1 or $7,000 LT Pick 4

(7) GOLDRUSH SEELSTER qualified faster than his rivals have been racing for purses and he looks ready to rock in this sophomore debut; top call. (10) TWIN B JAMMER was really good on 4/28, but you have to wonder if he can get a better trip here starting from the 10-hole. He is possible, but I'd demand a price. (5) WILLIAM HANOVER's good tactical speed should get him another decent share tonight. (4) DREAMFAIR ARNIE B got hammered down to 3-5 for his seasonal debut and he didn't show much, perhaps affected by broken equipment. He can improve enough to land in the Super here moving into the Cullen barn.

Race 5: Claiming $15,000 for $51,000 LT

(2) PERPETUAL ROCK has hit his best stride racing at this level and he looks best in here; top call. (4) JIM STRIKESITRICH faces easier tonight, which makes me think that Cullen will get aggressive with him. He will probably be the one to catch when they turn for home; using. (6) WISK KEY K adds Lasix and McNair for this; should be in the exotics mix. (1) DO YOU SEE IT was 3rd to the choice last time and now he adds Lasix. I see him as a fringe player again tonight.

Race 6: 5YO and Younger NW2 (F&M3) or $20,000 (F&M $30,000) Pick 5

(2) P C FREE WHEELING fired home in 27 and change in both of her starts and she can beat these if she gets put into the race earlier; top call. (8) MAHONE SEELSTER's two-move effort from the 10-hole was good and now he moves in a couple of post positions. He should be a threat here. (9) STORMONT MABEL converted as the 2-5 chalk against maidens last week. She can land in the Tri or Super. (6) POCOHONTAS can pass a few of these late and grab a share.

Race 7: F&M 4YO and Younger NW2 or $15,000 LT Pick 4

(5) RAPTORS WON was a victim of trip last time and the filly that beat her would be a favorite in this field. She is strictly the one to beat here. (4) SHANGHAI SEELSTER gained ground on the best sophomore pacing filly in the country in a swift final 1/4 in her qualifier on 5/6. She should be the main threat here. (3) SAUBLE AMBER is interesting because she paced her fastest mile ever in her qualifier for this race. I prefer to use her underneath. (6) FREE TO BE ME wasn't disgraced in Grand Circuit company last year. She should be in the exotics mix.

Race 8: CLM HDCP $8,000 to $10,000

(6) MISTER J R showed a bit of late zip last week and now he goes for the leading trainer off the claim and gets the leading driver; top call. (5) THUNDERING JIM finished ahead of the choice in that race and he should be an Exacta factor tonight. (1) COOL ROCK stretched his legs last week and I can see him closing for a share in this small field tonight. (2) LARJON LUCKY dominated easier in his second start off the Cullen claim but these are tougher; small share predicted.

Race 9: Claiming $18,000 for NW $80,000 LT

I have no doubt that (5) PRIVATE SCOTT wins last week's race if he wasn't on dead cover that cost him ground loss and delayed his late move. In this smaller field he should be able to make his own luck. He will be a single for me. (2) SKYLAR was expertly-driven by Sorrie to win that race and he should be the main threat again. (1) ROCKINMYDREAM, 2nd in that mile, should be an exotics player again. (4) BELIEVE IN BRIAN should close for another small share tonight.

Race 10: 4YO and Younger NW2 or $15,000 LT

(8) THE BOSS SAID was 1-5 for his sophomore debut but trying to close into a 27 3/5 kicker made things tough. I'll side with him here in a spot where he is sure to offer a better price. (10) FROZEN HANOVER finished ahead of the choice after cutting the mile in a sharp effort and he should be a threat despite drawing widest. (1) HE BEE SUNNY was solid beating maidens and he is in with a shot. (4) JABBERWOCKY was driving up the inside on his way to an in-the-money finish last week when he appeared to run into a pylon, got spooked and broke stride. He has upset potential. (7) SHIP DISTURBER exits a fast qualifier and he should be good for a share in this spot.
