Top Pick Stats: 316/915 (-$343.40) Best Bets: 40/83 ($6.10); Spot Plays: 17/82 (-$44.00) Best Bet: BLAST OF SUNSHINE (Race 8) Spot Play: DONATOVER (Race 5) Early Pick-5: 2,3/2,6/3,5/1,2,7,9/4   $6.40 Late Pick-5: 1,5,7/2,4/7/2,3/1,4,5   $7.20 Race 1: 4 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $9,000 OR LESS 2 RACES) RACE OR $9,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES. I’ll go back to (3) LITTLE ARROW who I thought was pace compromised last week. He tried to rally up the rail after staying inside, but wasn’t going to make up six lengths when the last quarter was sub-:29. He can break his maiden with the right trip. (2) TRUDYBIRD loomed large after a blowout qualifier win, but was scratched sick when in to go on October 16. It’s now been over a month since she last raced. I respect her nonetheless. (1) P L SLIM was outsprinted last time out, but tends to have a bit more staying power when sitting close. He can hang on for a piece. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: HARVEST SERIES: ONTARIO SIRED 2 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS, NW $30,000 IN 2025 AS OF SEPTEMBER 30TH 2025. LEG 2. (2) SENDI KA had to settle for second last week. He sat in the pocket behind some quick fractions, and was only beaten by the horse who sat behind him for much of the mile. McNair has gotten more out of him in his last two starts. (6) ANIBAL DUHARAS was the horse that picked off Sendi Ka last week. He looms as a logical threat to three-peat against a short field. (3) GO ROSSCO tried different tactics last week and was never really able to get involved. I can see him going on a similar off the pace trip tonight and getting a piece. Race 3: CLAIMING $20,000 FOR NW $30,000 (OS $37,500) LIFETIME. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE. AE: OS 4 YO NW $3,375 LAST 8 STARTS. (3) PRINCE MALICIOUS makes his first trek to Woodbine Mohawk Park after pacing some big miles at Western Fair. I would expect him to step forward on the bigger track for connections that usually have them ready to fire. (5) CARSONSBUCKNGO might be one of the trickiest horses to handicap week in and week out. He has the ability to win, but obviously can’t be trying to swoop them from last. You would think McNair would use some of his gate speed tonight. (2) UP FRONT BB has decent pop in the late stages, and is likely to stick around for a piece if he can sit close. Race 4: POP UP SERIES: HORSES & GELDINGS CLAIMING $8,000. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE. LEG 1. (9) THATSWHATISAID N went a strong first over trip last week and went on to inch away to a two length win. It’s hard to look past an effort like that, especially when she has been close at Mohawk in recent tries. (7) HAPPY NEIGHS also comes off a win last week in a race where he got a perfect trip. Plante should have him on the move early and in position to do the same thing. (1) PEY BUG has hit the board in nearly half of his tries this year and likes to grind into contention. He is likely to be used on most tickets. Race 5: NW $1,150 LAST 4 STARTS (W/O $7,500 LAST 8 STARTS N/E). AE: N/A $700 P/S IN 2025 (MIN 8 STARTS). AE: OPT. CLM. $12,500. (4) DONATOVER had to settle for a tightener last week after getting away last against some tougher horses. The top three finishers from that race would all be likely odds on favorites if they were here. Look for a strong effort from an improved post this week in his second start off the claim. (7) HEAD OF THE CLASS should also appreciate the drop to the bottom condition. He can get into the race with any trip. (5) ETERNALLY HANOVER had a couple of upset wins earlier this year, but besides that, he has had trouble staying out of his own way. He adds Lasix this week after staying flat in two consecutive efforts. I’ll take a chance that he minds his manners. Race 6: 2 YEAR OLDS NW 1 RACE OR $8,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES. (7) MASSBAR was a measured second when working from off the pace behind a horse that never looked like a loser on the front end. She has been knocking at the door; I’ll give her the nod to break her maiden. (1) STORMONT SHANLYBOY found his best stride late in his second career start. That came after he followed cover that immediately stopped in his face and forced him three wide. A better trip can see him get to the winner’s circle. (5) PUSH TO START was logically hammered at the windows after his sparkling debut win, but he came up short last week. I can see him working into the race and getting a piece. Race 7: HARVEST SERIES: ONTARIO SIRED 2 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS, NW $30,000 IN 2025 AS OF SEPTEMBER 30TH 2025. LEG 2. (4) EVANS LEGACY continues to find just a little bit more in each start. He is inching closer to another win after he flew home last week and nearly swooped the field. His versatility gives him the nod tonight in my book. (2) LOUS GAME went on a speed mission last week and could not be caught. That was the most aggressive he had been handled, and it made a significant difference. Look for a quarter move if he gets away in decent order. (9) SCORPION SEELSTER was another horse who was a measured second last week. That was because Lous Game was not slowing down. I expect him to be on the move in the early stages as well and land on the ticket. Race 8: POP UP SERIES: HORSES & GELDINGS CLAIMING $8,000. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE. LEG 1. (7) BLAST OF SUNSHINE dropped to this level last week, added Lasix, and absolutely demolished a field at Flamboro despite not having raced in about a month. He is the clear standout. (4) MACH IMPACT has produced two strong efforts since a subpar qualifier. The veteran has found a spot where he should continue to shine. (3) CARSONS SHADOW is another who does his best work at this claiming level. His seven wins show that he knows how to get the job done. He is another logical contender. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 9: CLAIMING $20,000 FOR NW $60,000 (OS $75,000) LIFETIME. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE. (2) WICKED EXPRESS was bet down to odds on, and absolutely crushed his rivals at this level last time out. This shorter field should be no problem for him tonight. (3) SMILES FOR MILES is another who comes off a win thanks to a perfect trip. He should have every chance to draft behind the big favorite and take his shot in the lane. (5) BETTER THAN NEVER can get into the race in a variety of ways. I can see him grinding into the race and getting a piece. Race 10: NW $1,250 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $4,750 LAST 8 STARTS (W/O $8,000 LAST 8 STARTS N/E). AE: N/A $780 P/S IN 2025 (MIN 10 STARTS). (4) LARCENY gets a driver change this week which could result in an aggressive steer. He tried to make a second move in a fast race, and ultimately faded back to last. His last effort at the bottom level was a multi-length win on the front end. (5) ARTSALIVE adds Lasix after some strong tries at Hippodrome 3R, including a couple of stakes. Louis Roy gets the lines; I would expect a move forward from him. (1) BROOKDALE MIKI is the ultimate grinder at these lower levels. He is usually always in the hunt for a check, and should move forward when dropping to face these.
