Early Pick-5: 4,9/4/4,8/1,2/3,7,8 $4.80
Late Pick-5: 4,7,8/7,8/3/2,7/3,4,7 $7.20
Race 1: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 3A. 2 YEAR OLD TROTTING COLTS & GELDINGS. STARTING FEE $400 CDN ($315 USD).
(9) THE GREAT GAZOO looked like a winner on debut when closing widest of all but the horse to his inside got a slightly better trip and was game. He’s progressing nicely and can overcome the draw. (4) SPEEDY MICHAEL came up just short in a final quarter sprint but lost nothing in defeat. McClure should have him on the move in the early stages. (3) KING OF THE SOUTH is trotting decent miles but may have a ceiling above him after just three career starts. I’ll look for him to continue those bronze medal ways.

Race 2: OPEN.
Everyone saw how sharp (4) EMOTICON LEGACY was off the bench. He didn’t lose a step despite the extended vacation and might be favored second back. Not much to say about (1) LOGAN PARK who responded after setting quicker fractions last week and has now won four of five. Take your pick for third. (6) OSCEOLA can grind as well as anyone in here when at his best and could snag the show dough, assuming no shenanigans are present for the top two.
Race 3: POP UP SERIES: H&G STARTERS FOR A PURSE OF $10,000 OR LESS LAST 3 STARTS (W/O $40,000 IN 2026 N/E). AE:N/A $1,450 P/S IN 2026 (MIN 10 STARTS). LEG 1.
(8) LIGHT THE TORCH gets a notable trainer change after cruising in two straight at Hippodrome 3R. Roy likely goes down the road from the high draw. (4) CONVOY TWENTY TWO edges out (5) D A LETS BOOGIE from a class standpoint in my opinion. The latter has won four in a row and potentially hasn’t shown us the bottom of his ability, but the former has a better turn of foot and can grind as well as anyone in this field.
Race 4: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 3A. 2 YEAR OLD TROTTING COLTS & GELDINGS. STARTING FEE $400 CDN ($315 USD).
(2) GRACEFUL KING was a touch lucky when he inherited the pocket because of a longshot making a miscue, but he trotted nicely up the inside and showed even more. I’ll go right back to him. (1) BLACK SHANK cruised on debut despite taking outside pressure. He was ready to roll that night and deserves a long look once again. (5) SPIRITUAL GUIDANCE gets away from the top freshman colts on the grounds and draws well again tonight. I can see him getting a piece.
Race 5: NW $20,000 LAST 4 STARTS. AE: NW 8 (FM 9) RACES OR $150,000 LIFETIME. AE: N/A $3,760 P/S IN 2026.
(8) MAJOR VELOCITY trotted a major back half and pulled the upset last week. He was completely forgotten about considering his recent form. That won’t be the case tonight. I wasn’t sure how to write about (7) STORMONT BEAUTIFUL this week. She makes it difficult considering her style, but she’ll take her usual money and be closing late. We’ll see if she gets the right setup or not. (3) SID THE KID is a logical early speed threat who raced well last week. He could wind up with the best trip of anyone here.
Race 6: POP UP SERIES: H&G STARTERS FOR A PURSE OF $10,000 OR LESS LAST 3 STARTS (W/O $40,000 IN 2026 N/E). AE:N/A $1,450 P/S IN 2026 (MIN 10 STARTS). LEG 1.
(8) BEACH TOUR sneaks into this Pop-Up because of the second part of the condition. He gets my tepid top call in a race that’s difficult to have a sturdy opinion in. Mark Mac is likely blasting, which might be enough. (7) DRINKIN BUDDY should probably be more of a fade for me given how he faded in his latest, but he is versatile over this racetrack and has back class that likely pushes him over many. (4) GERONIMO CREEK has been better since the barn change and intrigues me at a price. He showed in past years that he could get over the Mohawk oval just fine. Likely coming from well off the pace, however.
Race 7: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 3A. 2 YEAR OLD TROTTING COLTS & GELDINGS. STARTING FEE $400 CDN ($315 USD).
(7) DA TRIXTER took the entire stretch to get by Speedy Michael but he was trotting nicely for the duration. He has done little wrong so far. (8) STORMONT MAROON traveled nicely with cover and was able to hold off the rival on his outside. A promising debut. (6) GREAT WHITE NORTH has been right there in all three career starts. He doesn’t appear to have quite the pop necessary to win as often as he wants, however.
Race 8: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, WINNERS OF 3 BUT NOT MORE THAN 6 OR $80,000 (OS $100,000) LIFETIME.
(3) MAIZE AND BLUE trotted a quick mile in his latest and was just picked off at the end. His consistency pushes him over the top for me tonight. (8) GETTHEGREEN was bet like he was going to perform and he did just that. He is an obvious threat if that form continues. (2) TOUCHEDBYANANGEL will likely be using this week as another tightener. He has been excellent in stakes this season.
Race 9: POP UP SERIES: H&G STARTERS FOR A PURSE OF $10,000 OR LESS LAST 3 STARTS (W/O $40,000 IN 2026 N/E). AE:N/A $1,450 P/S IN 2026 (MIN 10 STARTS). LEG 1.
(2) HAZEE COAST had no chance in his latest and could use some gate speed this week in a wide-open race. I’ll give him the nod. (7) LARCENY finds the weakest group he’s faced in a while, and we saw what that did for him back in the middle of June. A forward trip could send him back to the winner’s circle. (4) CHEDDAR BAY is consistent but doesn’t typically match up well when shipping to the big track. I’ll use him underneath tonight.

Race 10: POP UP SERIES: H&G STARTERS FOR A PURSE OF $10,000 OR LESS LAST 3 STARTS (W/O $40,000 IN 2026 N/E). AE:N/A $1,450 P/S IN 2026 (MIN 10 STARTS). LEG 1.
I won’t give up on (3) SCAMMER who has a sharp turn of foot and could take advantage of a hot pace. (4) ODDS ON VALHALLA comes off a sharp win at Georgian and draws perfectly for another speed try. (7) GRIN AND WIN got back to his winning ways last week. He took a sharp mark last season at Mohawk and was a consistent contender at classes like this.
Race 11: NW $9,000 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $22,000 LAST 8 STARTS. AE: N/A $2,740 P/S IN 2026. (MIN 12 STARTS).
(8) UNGAWA makes his third attempt in this class and is likely to show some more gate speed tonight. I’ll give him the nod. (6) MR BLUEBIRD is a logical threat when dropping to a class like this. He should be forwardly placed as well. (10) P L ROBERT G will have a tough go from the high draw but a live helmet could tow him into contention for a piece.
