Late Pick-5: 3,4/7/5/4,5,7/5,6 $2.40
Race 1: NW $12,000 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $24,000 LAST 8 STARTS. AE: 4 YEAR OLDS.
(6) P L SPENCER tried to make multiple moves in a race that ended up with wicked fractions. Not an ideal place to be in just your third start of the year. Look for a better trip tonight. (2) PRIVATE ACCESS got a race under his belt and should be tighter tonight. I would expect him to be placed closer to the action. (7) GALEN ERSO hasn’t had the opportunity to showcase his talent since returning. Tonight could change that if McNair is aggressive.

Race 2: HORSES & GELDINGS CLAIMING $8,000 FOR NW $6,000 LAST 4 STARTS. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE.
(1) SMOKESTACK was a sharp winner in his second start for the Cullen barn. The rail shouldn’t bother him given his usual mid pack tactics. (5) TITANIC HANOVER gets a drop after another lackluster effort in his latest. I’d expect Roy to be on the move early. (2) ARAGONITE draws better after being used too hard too early. A stalking trip like he got two back would work well.
Race 3: NW $9,000 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $20,500 LAST 8 STARTS. AE: NW $75,000 LIFETIME. AE: NW $80,000 IN 2025-26 (MIN 10 STARTS).
(6) UNGAWA made a miscue in his latest and spoiled all chances as the favorite. His prior form is too good to ignore after just one mistake. I’ll try him again tonight. (2) WHAT ABOUT ELMO was a strong second on the drop in his latest. There’s no surplus of gate speed, so he shouldn’t be out of position. (3) ZETTE ATHENA still had some trot on the end of her mile despite leaving out and being shuffled. She could surprise here if she brings a top tier effort.
Race 4: CLAIMING HANDICAP $18,000 TO $24,000. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE & SEX. ENTER IN MULTIPLES OF $1,000.
(5) BETTOR B GOING actually paced a decent mile against tougher claimers, but I’d drop the horse in class too after seeing them go in 50 flat. It’s a perfect middle ground for a horse in form. (8) FOREFATHER keeps his preferred pilot off the claim. He got a beautiful setup in his latest and completely crushed. Hard to imagine the pace not being fast again. (10) PHONE NINE ONE ONE is another in-form claimer who doesn’t need to be mixing it up against Uncle Shank and Sometime Somewhere. He has overcome post ten before, but will need a big effort to do so again.
Race 5: NW $6,000 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $12,000 LAST 8 STARTS (W/O $15,500 LAST 8 STARTS N/E) AE: OPT. CLM. $30,000. AE: N/A $1,505 P/S IN 2026 (MIN 6 STARTS).
(1) PERFETTO wound up three wide past the quarter and was parked to basically the half in his latest. He was extremely game in my opinion and hopefully shouldn’t get parked from the rail. (3) TYRONE BOW TIE was the horse that stretched out Perfetto. Pressing the issue isn’t his game. I think a grinding trip will see him be more competitive. (7) STEAMER should make a jump in his second start back, especially after a dominant win like that, but I’m not sure if it will be three classes of a jump.
Race 6: NW $20,000 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $40,000 LAST 8 STARTS.
(3) OSCEOLA held his own against the returning Logan Park last week. He should be given every chance on the drop; I’ll give him the nod. (4) PENNTELLER HANOVER can consistently trot Open-level miles when he is on top of his game, but his usual trip as of late is the only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger on him more. (2) OUTSIDE THE FIRE also drops from the Open and is much more suited to a stalking trip. Something’s gotta give with all of this potential early speed.
Race 7: NW $2,500 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $5,000 LAST 8 STARTS. (W/O $15,000 LAST 8 STARTS N/E). AE: NW $25,000 IN 2026 (MIN 10 STS).
I think I keep saying it, but (7) RBSTENACIOUS T has to leave this week. I figured he was in for an aggressive steer when dropping in class, but I get if you don’t want to get to the half in :53 and a piece against Livinthebeachlife and others. Now he finds an easier overall group. (8) FRANCO SANTANA N comes out of that same race, where he got an aggressive steer, and was a good third. I expect him to get the lead early and potentially try to wire the field. (2) CODENAME CIGAR BOX was used extremely hard in his latest and completely set up the closers in that spot. He drops again and looks for a wake up.
Race 8: FILLIES & MARES CLAIMING $8,000 FOR NW $4,000 LAST 4 STARTS OR N/A $1,135 P/S IN 2026. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE.
(5) BLUE STAR SAPPHIRE didn’t get her kind of trip last week from the second tier. Look for her to be firing off the car and potentially take this field all the way. (4) WHOLE LOTTA ROSIE was sharp in her return and should only build on that effort. It helps that she draws well in this spot. (2) HEAVENS LIL DRAGON continued her bridesmaid ways when shipping to Mohawk. She remains in the mix, but will continue to be tough to use on top.

Race 9: CLAIMING HANDICAP $30,000 TO $40,000. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE & SEX. ENTER IN MULTIPLES OF $1,000.
(4) WANNABEABIGSTAR should have the opportunity to pounce from mid pack with his grinding style. Last week’s high draw was a bit too much to overcome. (5) SOMETIME SOMEWHERE was caught up in a wicked pace last week and couldn’t quite bottom out the field. Curious how heavily he is used tonight. (7) JJ XAVIER salvaged what he could after trying an outside move in that same race. He hasn’t been winning as much lately. I’ll use him underneath again tonight.
Race 10: NW $1,000 LAST 4 STARTS (W/O $7,500 LAST 8 STARTS N/E). AE: N/A $1,315 P/S IN 2025-26 (W/O $9,500 LAST 8 N/E).
(5) CRAZY WORLD gets another shot with J-Mac after an early miscue spoiled his chances. Would like to see him show gate speed tonight. (6) HAZEE COAST gets a driver switch which could see him aggressively handled tonight. That could make a huge difference in his form. (1) STARS TREASURE was a runaway winner in his latest but might be limited from the rail if he wants to try that again. I’ll use him underneath tonight.
