Woodbine Mohawk Park: Analysis for Sunday 4/26

Kevin Plowcha|Apr 24, 2026
Mohawk Logo 1.5

Top Pick Stats: 196/651 (-$301.90)

Best Bets: 26/59 (-$16.80); Spot Plays: 15/61 (-$35.80)

Best Bet: LIVINTHEBEACHLIFE (Race 10)

Spot Play: GETTHEGREEN (Race 1)

Early Pick-5: 7/4,6,7/2,3/4,5,10/4,8 $7.20

Late Pick-5: 2,5,10/2,4/2,10/5,6/7 $4.80

Race 1: WINNERS OF 3 (FM 4) BUT NOT MORE THAN 5 (FM 6) OR $80,000 (OS $100,000) LIFETIME. AE: 4 YEAR OLDS NW $40,000 IN 2026.

(7) GETTHEGREEN is likely to improve in his second start back, and he gets a key driver change which should allow him to sit close and potentially trip out at a price. (1) LANDING ON TIME likely has the most name recognition given his stakes tries. He comes back after just one qualifier, though, and could be susceptible this week as an underlay. (2) JAYPORT CASH comes off a career-best win and should be in the mix again if he can sustain his outside move.

Race 2: CLAIMING HANDICAP $12,000 TO $16,000. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE & SEX. ENTER IN MULTIPLES OF $1,000.

(7) BAYFIELD BEACH was a good second last week in a leg of the Pop-Up Series. He frequently finished in the money at this level last month and could finally break through this week. (6) ST LADS BEAT IT has held his own in his last two efforts against similar company. My only concern is that grinding horses can sometimes falter on the rim if the pace is quick enough. (4) FOREFATHER can be a handful to drive, but when he gets free, his kick is usually unmatched. His win total has already tripled from last year.

Race 3: NW $2,500 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $5,000 LAST 8 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $20,000.

(2) TACTICAL STRIKE has been her own worst enemy in recent weeks, but she was rounding into winning form before that, and this is a group she can beat if she minds her manners. (3) CHIC CHOC ROSE takes another drop in class as she looks for a wake-up call. This class is more likely to produce cheap speed on the front that she can take advantage of. (6) VICTOR INVICTUS made a good account of himself in the latest Pop-Up Series, but was saddled with post ten in the final. Look for him to get a piece tonight with a better trip.

Race 4: CLAIMING HANDICAP $18,000 TO $24,000. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE & SEX. ENTER IN MULTIPLES OF $1,000.

(4) CANT STOP LOU capitalized on the hot fractions and eventually drew away to win as last week’s favorite. He could see a similar opportunity tonight with some speed to his outside. (10) BETTOR B GOING is hard to ignore after a flashy down-the-road score, but I question how much that took out of him, and if it’s repeatable from the high draw. I don’t want to give up on (5) BELMONT BLAZER. With how he has been racing, he’s going to get the right setup at some point.

Race 5: NW $9,500 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $18,000 LAST 8 STARTS. AE: N/A $3,070 P/S IN 2025-26. AE: MARES.

I’ll take a chance with (8) MONALISHI, knowing full well she’ll need to class up to a few of these, especially first off the layoff. She possesses very high speed, though, and some of these upper-level trotters have gotten stale. (4) USAIN HANOVER has the most raw ability in this field, but he is hard to trust given recent miscues. You make the call. (6) WILLOWTIME should be aided by the drop in class, and McClure drove him well from mid-pack when last in the bike.

Race 6: NW $2,500 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $5,500 LAST 8 STARTS. AE: N/A $1,390 P/S IN 2026 (MIN 10 STARTS). AE: NW $15,500 IN 2025-26.

(2) WANNABEABIGSTAR should be much better tonight in his second start back. He faces a potentially wide-open group tonight; I’ll give him the nod. (10) BETS SHOW OFF is an interesting newcomer who showed good speed around the Mohawk oval a couple of seasons ago. His qualifier implies upside, and I like the addition of Plante, but the post is certainly a negative. (5) TYGA HANOVER could be in a spot where a down-the-road score could come, though he hasn’t been in the greatest form since returning. I’d look for the will pays to tell his story.

Race 7: NW $6,000 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $13,750 LAST 8 STARTS.

(4) OUTSIDE THE FIRE got a perfect tightener under his belt in his first start back. He gets a big post switch tonight. Hard to see him not step forward. If he falters, I think it’s wide open. (2) MOVE YOUR MASS can be forgiven for last week’s miscue in my opinion. McClure has gotten plenty out of him recently; Look for him to be in contention. I thought (1) DISTANCE LEARNING would’ve had more punch last week given the trip he got. I can see him sitting up close again and getting a piece.

Race 8: NW $6,500 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $12,000 LAST 8 STARTS (W/O $17,750 LAST 8 STARTS N/E).

I’ll look for (10) CODE CRACKER to blast from the high draw and potentially take this field all the way. He got away towards the back last week, which isn’t his style, but it might have saved him from torching himself given the hot fractions. He’ll need every ounce of that speed tonight. (2) SET SHOT produced some fast miles at Mohawk just last year. His form has been okay at M1, but I think he looms large on the return, this time for top connections, with Louis Roy giving him the nod. (7) EARLY ACTION was a good second last week after grinding into contention. That’s typically the kind of mile he gives you most weeks.

Race 9: OPEN.

Top trotter (5) LOGAN PARK returns to rule the Open again after two solid outings in the morning. I think he picks up right where he left off. (6) PENNTELLER HANOVER was sitting last before the top of the stretch, but still managed to miss by less than a length. He fits at the top level, but will need a better trip. (1) GHOSTLY CASPER raced extremely well last week when pulling off a big upset. He has won three in a row, but I think the streak comes to an end tonight.

Race 10: POP UP SERIES FINAL: STRTS FOR PURSE OF $10,000 OR LESS IN 2026 (WO $65,000 IN 2025-26 NE). AE: OPT. CLM. $12,500. (CLAIMERS REMAIN IN FOR TAG).

(7) LIVINTHEBEACHLIFE stamped his authority in this series last week and looms as the horse to catch. (4) LAMANDIER A could bring some value if the race falls apart. He has enough of a middle move to get himself into contention. (9) SOUTHSIDE EDDY could throw a real wrench into things if he is hell bent on getting the lead, which he has been. He was clearly second best last week against Livinthebeachlife.
