Race 1: CLAIMING HANDICAP $30,000 TO $40,000. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE & SEX. ENTER IN MULTIPLES OF $1,000.

(8) SHADOW OF AN ANGEL has found top form with Menary and looks to keep the winning streak going. (5) LARRY KARR tracked that rival for the entire mile and had to settle for second. His outing two back was proven to not be a fluke. (9) WHATCHULOOKIN AT deserves another look after a miscue off the claim. The new barn could provide a jolt that he has needed.

Race 2: FILLIES & MARES.

(3) STORMONT BEAUTIFUL finds a much easier group this time around and will look to power by in the stretch. (1) ILL HAVE THE RED took significant support in her latest for good reason. She earned her second sharp win in her last three and looks to continue riding that wave. (5) TACTICAL STRIKE has been well off the pace at the wire in her last two outings. I don’t think this group will go those types of fractions. The less work for her, the better.

Race 3: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, WINNERS OF 3 (FM 4) BUT NOT MORE THAN 5 (FM 6) OR $80,000 (OS $100,000) LIFETIME.

(4) YANKEE BOOST returns to overnight company for the first time in a while. He should have little trouble if he minds his manners. (7) SUGAR PACKET should be more involved tonight. I can give her a pass for what looked like an even mile because nobody could make up ground in a final-quarter sprint. (1) TROUBLE WITH NAMES has been a consistent top finisher recently and gets a major post switch. I can see him tracking from up close.

Race 4: HORSES & GELDINGS CLAIMING $8,000 FOR NW $5,000 LAST 4 STARTS. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE.

(1) CAUGHTINALANDSLIDE drops in class and should be able to use his late kick more to his advantage. (7) JIMMY WHISPERS has been much better in his last three outings and could add value to exotics if he gets the right trip. (5) THE DARK PANTHER only lost by a length in his latest and should have plenty of options early given this draw.

Race 5: NW $6,250 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $13,000 LAST 8 STARTS (W/O $20,000 LAST 8 STARTS N/E) AE: OPT. CLM. $40,000. AE: N/A $1,560 P/S IN 2026.

(7) FLANAGAN SUNSHINE mowed down heavy favorite Pemberton in his latest in what was his most visually impressive looking mile of the season. He jumps in class, but most of these aren’t reliable on the lead. (1) STABLE GENIUS is logical if you think he can get away from the rail in decent order. That has been his bread and butter of late resulting in many wins. (3) DAHLQUIST HANOVER likely resorts to another off the pace try which might leave him chasing late for a piece.

Race 6: NW $2,500 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $9,000 LAST 8 STARTS. AE: N/A $1,350 P/S IN 2025-2026. AE: 3 YO NW $26,500 IN 2026.

(5) FOR JULY hasn’t built on the momentum from his win three back but could take advantage when dropping in class. He’ll need to mind his manners. (3) MY WAY is a horse I come back to on occasion because he has the turn of foot to get involved at a price. (9) GOOBER SMACK is another likely price play who could fire off the car from the outside and hang on for a long time.

Race 7: FILLIES & MARES CLAIMING $8,000. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE.

(8) ACEFORTYFOUR DAISY took on tougher mares at Flamboro last week. She has done very well at this level this season and should get involved from anywhere. (1) HEAVENS LIL DRAGON deserves another look after she was unable to take the field most of the way in her latest. (3) MEILLEUR FROMAGE lost ground in the stretch but she typically prefers to follow a live helmet. I’m not sure who that could be in this field.

Race 8: NW $22,000 LAST 4 STARTS. AE: NW 10 RACES OR $150,000 LIFETIME.

(2) MAJOR VELOCITY gets away from some top trotters and should prove to be the class of this field. (8) GAINES HANOVER went all the way in his latest in a seasonal best, but I have a hard time believing he can repeat an effort like that. We’ll see. Remember when I tweeted that (3) PENNTELLER HANOVER could beat Logan Park? That was fun, and silly with hindsight. He is a frequent check getter who has been tailing off slightly as the season has progressed.

Race 9: CLAIMING HANDICAP $10,000 TO $12,000. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE & SEX. ENTER IN MULTIPLES OF $1,000.

(7) LETS GET ROCKED tried a second move in his latest but was no match for the winner in that spot. I can see him getting to the front and taking them the distance. (5) TELLIT RUSS TELLIT was a strong second in that same race but got the benefit of a better trip. He could get another good one here. (6) TITANIC HANOVER is another contender in this short field and should offer the best price of the three.

Race 10: NW $9,000 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $25,500 LAST 8 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $60,000.

(6) SAFE CONDUCT broke at a short price last week. I typically hate coming back to horses after that happens but he really should cruise against these, even if he only brings 80 percent. (9) RICKY RESOLVE likes to grind into contention and could spice up exotics in a potentially wide-open scramble underneath. (5) PASSARINO looks well prepped for his first start since mid July. It wouldn’t surprise me if he gets a conservative steer but fires home late for a piece.
