(6) CONTROL THE POWER exits the same race as the choice and he closed well late then had to steady nearing the wire. He is another in with a shot starting from the best post tonight. (3) PIPEWRENCH CHARLIE races better off a helmet and he can close for a share here. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES GRASSROOTS FINAL: 2 YEAR OLD FILLIES (6) TELLERS CHOICE will probably beat these if she stays flat, but she has broke in two of her last four starts, so I’m not sure how low of a price I’d accept. (5) CORE RESOLVE was a Grassroots winner last time Macdonald drove so she will likely get bet down from her 10 to 1 morning line. She is capable in this spot. (2) ALL STAR ANGEL is improving at the right time, and she is worth a look at a price for the early Pick 5. (10) INCANTATION would be rated higher if she drew better. Starting from out there, she will likely be limited to a small share. Race 3: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES GRASSROOTS FINAL: 2 YEAR OLD FILLIES (2) STELLRMANIPULATION dropped in behind the #1 horse at the start last time and that filly had no speed. Closing from last, this filly was flying late, and that effort should set her up perfectly for this Grassroots Final; top call. (1) PICK ME UP HANOVER is the likely favorite and she is another that got a good tightener in for this final; using. (3) TRICKY WICKY gets off the rail tonight so she should get better position leaving the gate. She is another in with a shot in a good betting race. (8) WICKED CRUIZER has two wins with a break is stride sandwiched in between. She can be an exotics factor if she behaves tonight. Race 4: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES GRASSROOTS FINAL: 2 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS - Pick 4 (9) COUSIN HALIFAX is on a big roll, and he will likely clear by the time they reach the 1/4 pole then lead the way home from there. (5) WENDELL BLUE CHIP was 2nd to the choice in a solid effort last time and he can complete another Exacta here. (4) FIRST CLASS RULE is on a roll heading into this final, but he will likely be denied the lead here. I’ll use him underneath. (6) PIERRE IN PARIS just took a new lifetime mark at Grand River but this is a tougher spot; using underneath. Race 5: NW $16,950 L5 AE: OPT CLM $70,000. AE: 3 YEAR OLDS Good sophomore (9) CLEVER CODY comes into this race off several strong efforts, and he should beat this field of elders if the intent is there. (3) MAPPOS LION fits well here and he should get a more aggressive steer tonight. He would be no surprise in this spot. (8) CODE CRACKER was live at the wire last week, but the winner got too good of a trip in front of him and wasn’t going to be caught. He can take another share in here. (6) MR IBIZA N gets McNair back and he should go better in this spot, likely sitting back and rallying late; using underneath. Race 6: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES GRASSROOTS FINAL: 2 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS - Pick 5 (5) CRACK SHOT, who is unbeaten in Grassroots races, was a blur in the lane when winning on 9/17, and he gets the call to repeat off that strong effort. (6) SAUBLE WILSON is another that has excelled in Grassroots races and he got a good tightener in for this final. He should be the main threat here. (7) BLUE BAR couldn’t hold off the choice, but he had 17 days between starts then. He is another that is capable here in a good betting race. (3) DEVILS WISH will probably get positioned near the front early in the mile and stick around for a slice. Race 7: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES GRASSROOTS FINAL: 3 YEAR OLD FILLIES (6) RHYTHM OF LIFE moves from the worst post to the best one and he gets Macdonald in the bike for the first time. Those changes should tip the scales in his favor tonight; top call. (3) VALENTINE BLUECHIP fits the Grassroots level like a glove, and he is hard to leave off multi-race tickets. (8) LOVE THOSE LEGS was too far back last time, perhaps by design using that start as a tightener. He will get put into this race and he has upset possibilities. (5) FLIRTY DANCER is another that should lay closer here; using underneath. Race 8: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES GRASSROOTS FINAL: 3 YEAR OLD FILLIES - Pick 5 This should be a good battle between (5) COLLUSION HANOVER and (2) HOW MUCH, who both tuned up for this final with big winning miles last week. Nod to the former who was simply faster. (1) PASTA DELIGHT will likely leave as hard as she can to get position and she can sit a trip and land in the Tri. (3) WICKED LEADER has a potent late kick on her best day. I see her closing for a share in this spot. Race 9: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES GRASSROOTS FINAL: 3 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS - Pick 4 (4) R NO MERCY was McNair’s choice over morning line favorite (10) JACK N ABS, and I’ll take a price stab with the former. The latter has been right there all year, and he should be a threat here despite drawing widest. (1) ELEGANT RESOLVE is 0 for 11 but he comes off a strong effort and he could do in here if he finds a live helmet to follow; using. (6) ROYAL DUHARAS hasn’t missed the board in his last 11 starts and he is another possibility in a competitive field. Race 10: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES GRASSROOTS FINAL: 3 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS (6) CENTURY KOMODO was going to win his last start if he could get through along the pylons, but he locked wheels with the leader nearing the wire and his bid was thwarted. I’ll call him to turn the table on (1) THE VICAR tonight. The latter is having a good season, and he has shown that he has a nose for the wire. He should be right there again. (10) MCPLEASANT brings strong form to this final, but he draws worst and post position can be the great equalizer. I’ll use him underneath. (9) STONEBRIDGE THRILL just took his first win of the year but that was a sub-1:50 victory. He is in the mix here. He can get back on the winning track vs. these. (8) HOUSE EDGE HANOVER has been terrific winning six of seven starts on the Maritimes this year and he should be a good fit in this NW2 dash. He is the other one that I’ll use on late multi-race tickets. (6) FLAG PARTY is another high percentage winner that ships in sharp, but I prefer to use him underneath here. (3) CEREAL ASSASSIN was beaten twice in a row by the choice, and he will likely take another small share in this spot. Race 12: NW $8,000 L5 or $16,500 LAST 10 STARTS AE: OPT CLM $50,000. AE: N/A $1,660 P/S IN 2024. (1) WRITE ME A ROSE takes a massive class plunge here and it’s hard to see him getting beat vs. these. (8) BLOCKBUSTER TRADE has been sharp for several weeks and Henry, who won with him two starts back, returns to the bike tonight. He could add some value to the exotics here. (2) LIVINTHEBEACHLIFE dropped to this level last week and he took a share. He should hit the board again in this field. (7) WHEELS ON FIRE similarly took a slice when he dropped to this level last week. He can get position early here and stick around for a share. (5) ORDER ONE TO GO can pass some of these late and land in the bottom of the Super or High-5.
