He was crushing Preferred fields not long ago and should be pointed forward here. (7) THE GREEK FREAK is better from off the pace and should get a chance to do that here. Back lines and big kicks are found on his page. (3) UNCLE SHANK A gets a new venue with a new barn after earning $56,000 in 2022. Last qualifier was large win with 27 kick. (4) ROCK AND TWIST steps up in claiming price after two nice wins. These are much tougher. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: GRASSROOTS STARTERS IN 2023 3 YO Colts and Geldings Pace (4) JOKER ON JACK is sitting on a win since adding Lasix. Gets away from sharp winner of last two who also improved with Lasix. Needs only be in range. (8) FADE TO LIGHT was bet to even $ in latest after two straight fast kicks. He blew up early in that spot but Filion sticks. (5) ACE OF ACES added Lasix in last vs better but didn't improve. Drops now looking for more speed early. (3) ARTSALIVE gets back to big track after chalky Grand River win. He has early speed to control this if he wants to use it. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Mohawk Park card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: NW $9,200 L5 AE: N/A $2,040 P/S in 2023 Opt CLM $45,000 AE: NW 7 Life or Pop Up Starters 2023 (3) RON just beat these with a late flash. He rarely wins but has been solid in recent starts and fits this race very well. (5) MATAI LOUIS N was a neck away from that one on 7/29 with 26 2/5 kick. Barn maybe starting to figure him out, price gone now. (2) BEYOND BETTER is quirky but fast. Draws much better and has the class to win here but new pilot and needs to stay flat. (6) HAIL CHRISTIAN N was in play late upon return here on 7/29. He's another that's capable when he gets his trip, I think a minor award is more likely. Race 4: FILLIES AND MARES NW $14,000 L5 AE: WO to draw outside - Pick 4 (7) WESTERN WISH is obvious off the drop after knocking heads at the top level for several weeks. She likes to grab the pocket and work out trips. (6) POWERED BY MACH has two straight very fast miles here and now steps up. That 53 3/5 half in latest was impressive. (5) GIAS SURREAL will wake up eventually and win. She had a slow pace in last and still couldn't hold. (3) VOELZ DELIGHT has been another share type this year after nine exacta finishes last year. Could get a setup if the speed gets hot up front here. Race 5: 5 YO and Younger NW of $15,000 Life (3) LEAVE IT TO LEO seems obvious after two straight wins at the level at short prices. Likely makes another early move. (5) WISE THINKING raced well vs. that one on 7/29 at 18-1 odds. Similar late rally should complete the exacta. (9) LEAVE IT TO LUTHER is racing well on the half mile tracks. He's won half his starts the last two seasons but steps up to main circuit. (2) BETTORHOLDONTIGHT has ability and wins at this level but can bust at any time. Lines are full of excuses, needs none to beat these. Race 6: NW $9,200 L5 AE: N/A $2,040 P/S in 2023 Opt CLM $45,000 AE: NW 7 Life or Pop Up Starters 2023 - Pick 5 I liked (4) WRITE ME A ROSE's effort on 7/29 with big speed try when favored. He's a Stakes type that's won over $100k in the last two years. Could be looking towards another Stake. (6) WIND BLOWN has been speedy in last two with fast paces. He could end up tripping out behind choice. (3) SOMETIME SOMEWHERE drops and draws better. Last year was beating these types with speed tries. He needs a wake up. (5) SOUTHSIDE EDDY is a closer in a speed filled race. He has checks in his last five and sharp kicks. Race 7: NW $25,100 L5 AE: NW 9 races - Pick 4 (1) JABBERWOCKY has shown big speed lately in fast races. Tired late in last but that was a tough spot. (2) POINTS NORTH brings it most weeks with sharp tries. Lost to 'Stockade' in last which is no disgrace. (8) HP MOMENTUM has shaded 26 in his last four starts and that plays well at any level. Needs to be put in the race early. (3) HIGHLANDBEACHLOVER moves inside after a 26 1/5 kick only managed sixth in last. Needs a trip vs these but is capable. Race 8: 5 YO and Younger NW 2 but NM than 4 Races or $45000 Life Opt CLM 50k (3) BETTERHAVEMYMONEY produced best race in a while on 7/29 rallying vs chalky winner. His two year old races would be nice for him to return to his best. (4) IKES DREAM had no chance last so just draw a line through that race. 7/22 line with his speed early and late plays better here. (8) BETTER B BOLD won a nice Gold on 7/22 and could be prepping for another. He's talented and improving. (2) ACAPULCO SUNBURN beat a few of these on 7/22 then got stuck with a ten post. He's too hit and miss for me to get excited, yet I know he can win here. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 9: Free For All Pace (2) WARRAWEE VITAL gets away from 'Linedrive' and that should equal another speed mission here. Easiest spot in a while for him. (4) MOMAS SON BYRNE returned with a nice win after missing time again. He's ultra-talented but struggles at the top level. (6) CARBINE returned with 1:48 2/5 score last week from off the pace. He's shown that ability in the past, could surprise. (3) LAWLESS SHADOW has got himself back to the top level but struggles to find the front early vs these. Can he sit and try a trip now? Race 10: NW $4,000 Last 5 starts or NW $10,650 L10 AE: Not Avg $1,335 PS in 2023 AE: NW $500 2023 (5) FOREFATHER was well meant in last but so far back early. He's third back now and likely favored again. (4) DR JOE rallied Monday to grab a check per usual. Needs a setup but is always one to hold off and many here are struggling. (7) MAJOR HILL has been favored at this level in last two but is limited to share spots. Ten year old knows where the wire is. (9) HUNTER HILL tried the front Monday but tired. He occasionally pops with a big effort and forgets to stop. (3) THATLL BE SPORTY has two winning qualifiers after November layoff. Did win $68,000 last year.
