(1) MARKET BANKER has hit his best stride in his last couple of starts and he figures to get a good stalking trip in this spot then pounce late; top call. (5) CRAIGIEBURN got revved up in the second 1/4 last week, trotting a 28 1/5 second 1/4 to make front then trying to bottom out the field. The pocket sitting 6 to 5 chalk re-emerged late to nail him. That was a good effort and I’ll use him in this Pick 5. (2) ELEGANT RESOLVE figures to improve by default dropping to NW2 and he is another for Pick 5 consideration. (6) MUSICAL RIDE is 1 for 19 and he has been a frequent money burner this year. I’ll use him on the bottom here.

Race 2: FILLIES & MARES PREFERRED HANDICAP. PP#1-3 DRAWN. PP# 4-6 DRAWN

(5) TELLS ON A ROLL faces a new challenger tonight but she has been so good recently that she may be up to it. She gets a slight nod over (6) SILVER LABEL who is clearly rounding into her best form and will have to be beaten. (4) PROHIBITION LEGAL tried the choice last time and she was repelled in a quick third 1/4. She should get another share here. (2) SO MUCH MORE at eight isn’t quite what she was at seven. She likely takes another slice in this spot.

Race 3: 4YO and younger NW $24,500 LIFETIME AE: 3YO NW $7,500 L10

(7) WALLACE HARTLEY and (3) DEUCE HANOVER are both in easier here and they will likely battle for the win. Nod goes to the former who has shown to be handier and will likely get position on the latter. (1) WRITE ABOUT NOW has been terrific racing on the ‘B’ tracks but he would probably need to drop four seconds here to challenge the top two. I don’t see that happening. I’ll use him underneath. (4) BETTHEBEACH YANKEE is capable of better than he showed last week. He could sneak into the exotics.

Race 4: 5YO and younger NW 3 or $94,000 LIFETIME. AE: 4YO NW1 in 2024 (MIN. 10 STARTS) - Pick 4

(6) WIKIPEDIA has raced well recently against the likes of Nijinsky and Chain Gang both of whom would be big favorites in this field. He might get a bit lost on the board here and add some value to the multi-race tickets. (8) LEAVE IT TO LEO was left in Redwood Hanover’s vapour trail last week, but so was everybody in that race. He has a better shot tonight. Improving (7) REIGN SUPREME wasn’t far behind Leave It To Leo last week. I could see him winning here if things fall his way. (2) WARRAWEEFORLAURA can improve sharply in this spot getting class and post relief and he is yet another in with a chance in a good betting race.

Race 5: NW $8,800 L5 or $$18,750 L10 AE: N/A $1,850 P/S IN 2023-24

(1) UNCLE SHANK A drops a couple of levels, and he is sure to try to lead these on a merry chase. Catch him to greet the cashier. (3) STONE CARVER is the other dropper, and my gut tells me that Jamieson is going to leave as hard as it takes to land in the choice’s pocket. I could see him getting past the choice in the lane if that happens; using. (2) BAYFIELD BEACH was bet like he couldn’t lose last week, and he delivered. This is tougher and he will likely take a slice off a following trip. (5) HESINCONTROL won’t get bet much on the driver change but he can close to take a share.

Race 6: 5YO and younger NW 2 (FM 3) or $21,000 LT AE: 4 YO NW $3,800 LAST 5 STARTS - Pick 5

(4) GRAMBLING HALL was impressive breaking his maiden and this isn’t a strong looking NW2 field. He should handle the step up and he has a good chance to take another win. (6) MUSCONE adds Lasix and drops out of the mid-season Gold Final. His best puts him right there and perhaps he will show more gate speed tonight. (2) CAPULET improved sharply in his last two races, and he can be a threat here racing from close range; using. (1) SPIROS can close for a small share in this spot.

Race 7: PREFERRED - Pick 4

(3) STOCKADE SEELSTER went a big trip in defeat last week making several moves into white-hot fractions. He should be tight as a drum for this third start back and I think he can pull off an upset if he can work out an easier trip. (4) REDWOOD HANOVER almost looked like he read that I pointed out he had lost 19 in a row before last week’s total demolition of his conditioned rivals. This is a tougher assignment, but he could double up off that strong winning effort. (9) WHICHWAYTOTHEBEACH won two of these in a row, but they weren’t the strongest Preferred fields. I’ll play to beat him as a likely underlay tonight. (6) WRITE ME A ROSE is in the thick of the chase every week and he should be an exotics player tonight.

Race 8: 5YO and younger NW2 or $30,000 LT

(2) CENTURY KOMODO hit his best stride in June, and this is a good spot for him to take his fourth win of the year racing from close range. (4) THE VICAR raced tough in defeat in his Grassroots debut, nailed late by a rival that produced a big late kick. He should be the main threat here. (8) LAKERS BANK was right there in two straight starts at this level recently. He has upset potential. (5) PREMIER FIRST STAR will probably look to sit a trip this time and he is in the exotics mix.

Race 9: F&M NW $15,500 L5 AE: NW $100,000 LIFETIME. AE: N/A $3,850 P/S IN 2023/24 TO DRAW OUTSIDE

(5) SHES GOT IT ALL dropped and popped on July 6th and a similar scenario should play out here but don’t expect much of a price. (6) CAVIAR N CRACKERS is helped by the short field tonight. She should produce a rally that should get her a good share. (1) GELNBORO steps up tonight, but she will likely sit a nice trip racing in the pocket and stick around to be in the Tri. (4) CHIEFS DREAM GIRL is typically a good one to use in the bottom of the exotics.

Race 10: NW $17,250 L5 AE: OPT. CLM. $70,000. AE: NW $43,000 IN 2024 (MIN 10 STARTS)

(4) LIVINTHEBEACHLIFE tried to rally from last in an 11-horse field last week and his 52 3/5 back 1/2 was only good for a 7th-place finish. Starting from a much better post this time, he gets top billing. (2) DRAGONONTHEBEACH exits the same race as the choice, and he couldn’t get a rally going because the race was simply too fast. He has a better chance here. (8) POSEIDON SEELSTER strangely took a lot of action in that race starting from post 12 in the second tier. He is another that has a better shot here and he will likely get sent forward leaving the gate; using. (3) ROCKME ROLLME drops and moves inside and that has been a winning formula for him in the past. He is another possibility for late multi-race tickets. (1) DREAMFAIR ARNIE B will likely sit another inside following trip and take a check.
