Top Pick Stats: 46/157 (-$124.80) Best Bets: 5/14 (-$7.50); Spot Plays: 2/14 (-$17.60) Best Bet: COURTS ON FIRE (Race 6) Spot Play: SOS SPORTS BET (Race 3) Early Pick 5: 3,5/4,7/5/6,8/2,4   $3.20 Late Pick 5: 7/3,9/5,8/3,5/4,6   $3.20 Race 1: NW $10,500 LAST 5 STARTS. (5) SOUTHSIDE EDDY has been in contention at this level when forwardly placed. With the potential amount of early speed in here, he could sit just off some dueling horses and capitalize at a price. (3) CLEVER CODY could sucker me in here but I think McClure will make sure he isn’t free-wheeling on the lead. Different tactics could prove to be the best thing for him. (1) NAZARE could work an inside trip this week and slice through late to pick off some rivals. The rail is tough with the aforementioned potential speed to his outside. (4) FORTIFY never looked like a winner once he cleared to the lead. He should be up close and can get another piece. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: NW $15,000 LAST 5 STARTS. AE: NW 9 RACES LIFETIME. AE: NW $75,500 IN 2025 (MIN 15 STARTS). (7) CRACK SHOT faces older horses this week, but if he brings anything remotely close to the effort in his latest, he will win again. (4) STORM SHADOW tried to make two moves but ultimately flattened out. He has been racing well and pacing good miles, but doesn’t have much to show for it. That could change tonight. (1) CODENAME CIGAR BOX fits much better at this level and is likely to find a cozy trip near the lead assuming things don’t get too crazy. (5) JACK PANIC is 0-for-24 this year but always seems to find his way to a check. He doesn’t need to beat many to do it again. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Mohawk Park card at 1/ST BET PRO!] Race 3: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 3 RACES OR $50,000 (OS $68,500) LIFETIME. (5) SOS SPORTS BET raced extremely well in his latest after being wide around the first turn and having to split horses late. He was moving very fast in the final eighth despite all of that. I was impressed by that effort and will take a shot at a square price. (3) CAPTAIN HURLEY has found top form and drew away from rivals after a first over move in his latest. He did get a hot pace in front of him, but nobody was gaining ground in the stretch. He lines up as the one to beat. (4) CONTROL ROCKS got picked off late again. You know where he’ll be. It’s just a matter of if he can hang on or not. (7) TIP OF TIME was interfered with by Control Rocks in the early stages of the June 28 race. You can pitch that line. He may be forced to take back with the early speed inside, but can still get a piece. Race 4: FILLIES & MARES, NW $9,000 LAST 5 OR $21,000 LAST 10 STARTS. AE: NW 4 RACES LIFETIME. AE: OPT. CLM. $50,000. (6) COCO JO JO gets a drop in class and should really find her form again tonight. An aggressive steer could be in the cards. (8) TELLS ON A ROLL has not been at her best this season, but finds a group that she could fire out against and be right there in the late stages. (2) ONE MORE BET also drops in class and should be able to sit up close again. She could add a little value if last week’s break scares some off. (9) PERFECTLY CHIC got the job done in a Gold that didn’t have Chantilly in it. She could be overbet in this spot; I’ll play against.  Race 5: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GOLD LEG 1. 2 YEAR OLD TROTTING COLTS & GELDINGS. STARTING FEE $900 CDN ($700 USD). (2) IN THE BLACK was excellent in his first parimutuel start around the Mohawk oval, pulling from third and drawing away in the late stages. He looms as a repeat possibility if he minds his manners. (4) ANOTHER GREAT MASS did what he needed to in a race that ended up looking like a paid qualifier. He will be in contention turning for home. (8) TOUCHEDBYANANGEL broke at the start in his debut. We’re not sure how much he has, but the morning prep was solid. I’ll slot him underneath at a price. (10) SENDI KA is one to watch if the post gods ever favor him. He will be racing from the back again and could snag a piece. Race 6: WINNERS OF 3 BUT NOT MORE THAN 5 RACES OR $80,000 (OS $100,000) LIFETIME. (7) COURTS ON FIRE got the nod from Doug McNair, which really makes me like his chances of firing early. He has shown the speed to be a major player against these types. (6) THE VICAR took a step forward in start two off the bench and was making up ground on the top two late. More progress gives him a big chance. (1) D A LOVE BOAT was going to try older horses again last week but was scratched sick. If he comes back at one hundred percent, he will contend. (3) BOXER SEELSTER hung around for second in a Gold which was a step in the right direction. He is a tier below these in my opinion.  Race 7: FILLIES AND MARES, 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 3 RACES OR $71,500 LIFETIME. AE:  4 YEAR OLDS NW $13,500 LAST 10 STARTS OR N/A $1,750 P/S IN 2024-25. (3) AARDIES MONEY N returned to action after her June 23 qualifier and went down the road in an impressive victory. It’s repeatable if she minds her manners. She looks like the most likely winner, but don’t take too short of a price if you’re betting. (9) ROCKS SHADOW is a horse I’ve liked and have made that known in my selections. She has raced huge in back to back starts, but draws wide again. Look for her to charge late at a big number. (4) GENTRIFY came up short as the favorite after a first over move against Aardies Money. She should be in the mix again. (1) NICE BUNS closed well when returning to Mohawk. She will likely have an inside trip and can punch through for a slice. Race 8: POP UP SERIES: HORSES & GELDINGS NW $25,000 IN 2025 (MIN 10 STARTS). AE: STARTERS FOR A PURSE OF $10,000 OR LESS IN LAST START. LEG 1. (5) FOREFATHER is one I’ll give another chance because of the lackluster field he faces tonight. This is a group he could easily swoop. (8) DRINKIN BUDDY should be able to get to the lead if McNair wants to. That will put him in a great spot assuming speed is holding. (4) HOWYOUPLAYTHEGAME drew away after a perfect pocket trip in his latest. He can step up and be part of the early mix. (6) WALLACE HARTLEY may try different tactics, though he didn’t lose by much in his latest. This race might set up for Forefather better than I originally thought. Race 9: PREFERRED 2. (3) PACINO HANOVER is back in top form and pulled off a mini upset in his latest when storming down the center of the track. I’ll go right back to him tonight on the jump in class. I have no idea where (5) ITS MAJOR MAJOR A pulled a 1:48.3 mile from, but you have to respect it. He was sitting on a win, but I wasn’t expecting that. This will be his biggest test. (2) POSEIDON SEELSTER could be lurking just behind the leaders if McClure doesn’t quarter move him. He can hit the board. (4) SOARING NOW is the wild card here. He races better when up close and could easily contend if given the chance. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 10: POP UP SERIES: HORSES & GELDINGS NW $25,000 IN 2025 (MIN 10 STARTS). AE: STARTERS FOR A PURSE OF $10,000 OR LESS IN LAST START. LEG 1. (4) STONEBRIDGE HELIOS is sitting on a big effort after pacing home very strongly in his last two. This is a drop and he should capitalize. (6) THUNDER COUNTRY went a big mile to win in his latest. I’m curious what kind of trip he gets tonight. (3) RESPECT OUR FLAG is one you pretty much always have to consider. He should be flying late and pick up the pieces, maybe more if the pace gets hot. (5) DELIGHTFUL LEADER pulled off a slight upset in his latest. He can close for a share if he finds a live helmet. Race 11: FILLIES & MARES, NW $15,000 LAST 5 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $70,000. AE: NW $52,000 IN 2025. (3) GLENBORO is one I’ll try again after she was looking for room once again in the stretch. Angostura Hanover was the horse who punched through and got the trip I wanted Glenboro to get. Could be a reach, but the price should be square again. (6) SORCHA SEELSTER paced a very good mile after a sick scratch, but she needs to actually show us that she can get the job done again. (2) ODDS ON PLATINUM is very logical off the drop from the Preferred level and should easily be a contender in this spot. (5) SHES GOT IT ALL has versatility but isn’t with the upper tier of this group. She can get a piece. (8) STYLE FOR A MILE got back to her winning ways last week but this is a step up. She can round out the Hi-5.
