Early Pick 4 – 5/2,4,6,7/2,6,8/2,4,5 = $36
Late Pick 4 – 2,4,5/1,4,7/3,5,7/1,4 = $54
Race 1 – NW $11,000 L5 or $22,000 L10 AE: OPT CLM $30,000 - **GTD $75,000 Pick 5**
Tough opening leg to this Pick 5 with no qualifiers showing and the entire field coming off close to a three-month break. At this point you should be using info from Friday night’s races regarding which barns are sending them out ready. I’ll give (3) SEVEN IRON the nod here thinking he may be able to control the pace from the outset. (2) KAMERAN HANOVER fits well here and he should be well-placed early; using. (7) EXEMPLAR gets sent out by the top stable and he has the early zip to get into contention leaving the gate; another possibility. (6) MEADOWBRANCH MEMO Should be coming on late vs. these; using underneath.
Race 2- 5YO and Younger NW5 or $80,000 LT
I liked the way (1) PRICELESS BEACH finished his qualifier behind a runaway winner on a “good” track, and he could get a nice setup for his late kick here; top call. (3) NIGHT STICK is always a threat racing near the front and tonight should be no different. (7) Y S MATHIS goes to Moreau’s barn here and he fits well, but he has bigger fish to fry this summer vs. sophomores; using underneath. (2) GRAND POOBAH should get positioned near the front early and stick around for a share.
Race 3 – NW6 (F&M7) or $105,000 (F&M $87,500) LT
(8) STEUBEN HANOVER was the best he has ever been in his last start and if he comes back ready, he can beat these. (3) P L MATT recorded five exacta finishes in a row after changing barns to Baillargeon’s stable and he fits well here; using. (4) SWEET CHAPTER goes for a barn that seems to have them all ready to fire and she’s on my Pick 5 ticket. (6) ZIG ZAG is another possibility in a wide-open race.
Race 4 – NW $8,000 L5 or $17,500 L10 - Pick 4
(5) MUSCLE MACH looked tremendous winning easily in his qualifier in fast time and he did not appear to be all out. He is hard to go past here. (9) CASIMIR RICHIE P has enough gate speed to blast and land in the choice’s pocket here and he could add some value to the Exacta. (6) NICKLE BAG is usually tough at this level. Toss him in your Tri. (3) DRACHAN HANOVER was a distant 2nd to the choice, but he could have a fitness edge on many of these and he is another for exotics consideration.
Race 5 – NW $30,500 L5 or $175,000 LT AE: Started for a Clm price of $80K or less last start
(6) AMERICAN VIRGIN is one of several that fit well at this level and he is likely to be racing on or near the lead which will should be the place to be; slight nod. (4) MATTICULOUS GB had several sharp races before the break and he merits a long look in this spot. (2) PHYSICALLYINCLINED was racing close to every week for a long time before the break. He could be extra sharp following some time off; using. (7) EAST END hasn’t recorded a win yet this year, but he is always in the mix it seems; using underneath.
Race 6 – NW7 or $130,000 LT – Pick 5
(6) GROOVY JOE and (8) ROCKME ROLLME both impressed in their qualifiers and they are likely to battle it out for the win here. Nod to the former who kicked home much faster (albeit off slower fractions). (2) CLIFFHANGER is likely to be racing in the top three throughout and he has an upset chance if he trips out. (3) HEISMAN PLAYER goes for a barn that has raced some sharp-looking horses in qualifiers so far. He should be ready, and he can contend for a placing.
Race 7 – NW3 or $50,000 LT – Pick 4
(4) BEACH BLANKET BOOK was solid in his qualifier and his trainer seems poised to send out many winners early; top call. (2) BETTORBUCKLEUP showed good speed in his qualifier and he is worth a look on the barn change here. (5) BUSH MAN N looked ready to rock in March then racing shut down. Going for trainer Auciello for the first time, he would be no shock in this spot. (9) DENALI SEELSTER is capable of landing in the Super and his price will be good here.
Race 8 – PREFERRED
You could make a case for most of these, but I’ll side with (7) WHEELS ON FIRE who was hot before the break. (4) CENTURY FARROH was a win machine last year and he was razor-sharp at the start of his 2019 campaign. He could offer some value here. (1) EASY LOVER HANOVER is always in the mix and hard to toss from multi-race tickets. (6) EVENWOOD SONOFAGUN raced well for McClure prior to the break and he should be positioned near the front which gives him a good chance to land a share.
Race 9 – NW $15,000 L5 or $26,000 L10 AE: Starters for $45K Clm or less last start
(7) SPORTS COLUMN recorded the fastest time over Goshen on May 28th, and I’ll give him the nod off that sharp performance. (3) REAL WILLEY is worth a price look in a spot where he could trip out racing near the front. (5) ELLIS PARK drops, and he is an obvious contender in this spot if he’s ready, but I wouldn’t accept a short price on any of these. (1) TORRIN HANOVER is worth using in the exotics a one of only two horses showing a recent qualifier.
Race 10 – NW $11,000 L5 or $22,500 L10 AE: OPT CLM $30,000 - **$236K Mandatory Payout Hi-5**
(1) NIRVANA SEELSTER has a goose egg showing in the win column for 2020, but if he can fire his best shot coming off the bench here, he may take these down. (4) MONGOLIAN HERO A drops and he was a winner last time he raced at this level. He has a perfect post to get early position, too. (7) POINTOMYGRANSON fits well vs. these and he can race effectively from anywhere it seems; using. (11) MAJOR HILL should be coming on late for a share and (2) ROCK THIS WAY is another strong closer that should be in the High-5 mix.
Mandatory Payout Hi-5 Ticket: 147 / 147 / 124711 / 1245711 / 12345711 = $32.40
