He edged away to a multi-length win and showed he can be closer to the lead. He should be coming into tonight with confidence and can repeat. (10) STORM SHADOW has been racing well at Mohawk in recent starts, but still has no wins to show for it this year. He is likely to be just floated out from post ten, but if he follows a live helmet, he could be dangerous in the stretch. (2) MADDEN OAKS put together two of the most impressive performances I’ve seen in a while in his NA Cup races, but now faces older rivals. He looms as the major wild card of the race. (7) FORTIFY took just a little too much heat in his latest on NA Cup night. He can be forwardly placed tonight and get a check. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GOLD LEG 2: 3 YEAR OLD PACING COLTS & GELDINGS. STARTING FEE $900 CDN ($675 USD). (3) CRACK SHOT didn’t have much of a chance in the NA Cup Final given where he got away. He did not fire his best in the Gold back on May 24, but the horses in front of him got away with cheap fractions. I think he’s driven like the best horse tonight and rebounds well. (2) BOXER SEELSTER appears to be rounding into form and could give Crack Shot some trouble if he brings his A-Game. My only concern is that he may have to be first over. (6) CONTROL ROCKS was the upset winner in that aforementioned late May Gold. He has come up short in his last two, but should have an easy time getting to the lead in the early going. He can hit the board. (5) TIP OF TIME sat a perfect pocket trip to Control Rocks last week and went by that rival in the late stages. I’m not sure he can work out that good of a trip tonight. I’ll put him underneath. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Mohawk Park card at 1/ST BET PRO!] Race 3: 2 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS: NW 1 RACE OR $8,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES. (2) TWIN B CABO has looked extremely solid in his two qualifiers, finishing second to No Waitlist in both, who we’ll get a better gauge on when he debuts on Friday. He can step right up on debut and deliver. (5) TWIN B STANLEY appears to have the speed to make a real impact in his debut. Hewas a winner in his second qualifier after having to face Dad, who is another debuting on Friday night that could be a very nice horse. (6) LUNAR SPORT feels like the wild card in this race. He paced home very well in both qualifiers with minimal urging. I think he can hit the board. (4) RIKKI ROCKETT picks up Bob McClure for his debut after a pair of second place finishes in his qualifiers. He can round out the ticket here.  Race 4: POP UP SERIES: HORSES & GELDINGS NW $30,000 IN 2025 (MIN 10 STARTS). AE: STARTERS FOR A PURSE OF $12,000 OR LESS IN LAST START. LEG 2. AE: LEG 1 STARTERS. (4) ITS MAJOR MAJOR A raced well in his first start in North America, flipping off cover and nearly tracking down pacesetter Seriously Hanover in the late stages. He can definitely improve off that effort tonight and can get the job done. (6) COLD CREEK QUESO was unable to catch the pumped up Elliot Moose on a super speed-favoring track last week. He raced well to be second, and should contend once again tonight in leg two. (7) RESPECT OUR FLAG went a huge first over trip at Georgian Downs in his latest, just missing as the favorite. If he isn’t taken back towards the back, I think he has a chance to spice up the exotics. (2) ELLIOT MOOSE deserves a lot of credit for how he was driven last week. Cullen took advantage of a fast track and pulled off the upset. I don’t see the same thing happening tonight, but he can pick up a share. Race 5: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 2 RACES OR $30,000 (OS $53,000) LIFETIME. (9) TH KAY C CRUNCH had plenty of questions to answer after the trouble he faced in his NA Cup elimination, but he rebounded in a huge way, finishing second in the 3YO Open in his latest. He drops back to conditioned company, where he was last seen finishing second to Lite Up The World in early May. He stands out here and can overcome the wide draw. (8) HP BELLISSIMO was extremely impressive in defeat in his latest. He got a slow third quarter to pace into, but his move from the back was just so eye-catching. He continued to pace forward despite being forced four wide, and really looked like he was going right by. He had to settle for second, but I thought it was an excellent race from a horse that can continue to improve with more experience. (10) SOS SPORTS BET got caught by a tripped out Fifth And Five in his latest, but raced well again. He will need to be put in play from the wide draw. He has enough staying power to where he can hit the board tonight. (6) BRUNO NO NO NO was unable to sustain his first over move in his latest and had to settle for third as the beaten favorite. He is likely to be outsped early and try a similar trip tonight, which can get him a minor share. Race 6: 2 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS: NW 1 RACE OR $8,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES. (1) WINDOR is one of the first offspring of Bulldog Hanover that I’ve seen to make it to the races. He took a major step forward in his second qualifier, and could shine on debut. (7) LYONS FIRSTBULLDOG finished fourth in the same qualifier that Windor came out of on June 21. He is another Bulldog Hanover offspring that debuts for the Anthony Beaton barn. He can have a strong impact on debut as well. (2) BORDERLINE MOBBY likely has the most upside when compared to his first two qualifiers. Anything Dave Menary sends out has to be respected. He can hit the board on debut. (6) SOLIDARITY made a brief break at the start of his June 21 qualifier. I’ll look for him to rebound on debut. TheStable has been sending out some quality freshmen stateside.  Race 7: FILLIES & MARES PREFERRED. (6) GRIT N GRACE got a cheap middle half in her latest when on the lead, and made the rest of these top level mares pay. She was sitting on a win given her recent efforts, but that made it even easier for her. She’s likely to be tested more tonight, but she can repeat. (5) BLUE PACIFIC sat a pocket trip to Grit N Grace in her latest and finished a strong second. It could set up similarly tonight, which would make her a major contender once again. (7) CAVIAR N CRACKERS is a very strange case this week, because I’m not sure if she’ll be overbet, because last week was her first start in 20 days, or underbet, because it really wasn’t the flashiest effort. Her chances are dictated by what Hensley does off the car. (4) ONE LAST WISH was excellent in her latest, and gets a deserving try at this top level. She can pick up a share tonight. Race 8: POP UP SERIES: HORSES & GELDINGS NW $30,000 IN 2025 (MIN 10 STARTS). AE: STARTERS FOR A PURSE OF $12,000 OR LESS IN LAST START. LEG 2. AE: LEG 1 STARTERS. (5) LARCENY was beaten from the start when taken back to last from post nine. He closed just fine from the back to finish fifth. He gets post relief tonight and has been aggressively handled in the past to strong results. If he fires his fastball tonight, he could be tough to catch. (8) LAMBORGHINI LOU raced well given what he was up against from a trip standpoint. He tried a long first over move, then kind of got late pulled on by Control The Power, and was still battling and staying on in the late stages. I’m never too certain of his chances given that his trips usually come from mid pack, but I trust his back class compared to some others. Using him in multis. (3) DOCSPHILLYCHEESE was a repeat winner last week. He moved forward well when flipped off cover and got up despite being widest of all in the stretch. He is a versatile type that can hit the board tonight. (6) R J RINGO raced extremely well in his latest and out finished Its Major Major A who I like earlier in the card. Jody Jamieson has done great work driving this guy in the month of June and gets the call again tonight. He can at least pick up a minor share with a trip.  Race 9: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GOLD LEG 2: 3 YEAR OLD PACING COLTS & GELDINGS. STARTING FEE $900 CDN ($675 USD). (5) ALLSTAR MANIAC was a strong third in his return to action. It was a slow middle half that he was chasing, and he still made up ground in the final quarter. He should be stronger tonight and can get the job done. (3) SET SHOT has been consistently contending against other quality 3YOs. He looks better when racing up close, which is where I expect him to land off the car, and he should be a major contender tonight. (4) STERLING CHOICE was a strong winner two back at the Gold level. Things didn’t go his way in his NA Cup elimination, but given how he was racing before that, he should be ready for a rebound effort tonight. (2) SMILING DANCER appeared to be rounding back into form, but was scratched sick in his latest. If he comes back at 100 percent, he can be a factor. I’ll slot him underneath tonight. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 10: PREFERRED 2. (7) POSEIDON SEELSTER drops from the Preferred level and finds a group without any of the top tier that have been feasting in recent weeks. I think he gets driven like the best horse in the race and will be the one to catch. (4) GEM QUALITY was a strong second last week after a long, first over grind. He was forced wide in the final turn and was still coming forward. He is good enough to make his mark at this level. Using him in multis. (1) CLEVER CODY appears to be rounding into form, but he may be overbet given the final quarter he paced in the Gold Cup. He still needs to put it all together despite the class drop. If he does, he lines up as a major contender. (3) WRITE ME A ROSE also drops in class, but I’m not sure he’ll get a trip that sets him up for major success. He can close for a share. Race 11: POP UP SERIES: HORSES & GELDINGS NW $30,000 IN 2025 (MIN 10 STARTS). AE: STARTERS FOR A PURSE OF $12,000 OR LESS IN LAST START. LEG 2. AE: LEG 1 STARTERS. (3) ROCKS SHINING STAR managed to be second best after having to wait for racing room at the top of the stretch. The winner got the jump on him that night. A cleaner trip can see him rebound in leg two, and the price should be much better tonight. (2) AMERICAN HISTORY is in a now or never spot. This is a big drop for him, and he was a little better last week. He should really improve tonight and should be given every chance. Note the double use of the word “should”. His price will be too short for me to take on top. (4) SOMETIME SOMEWHERE went a big mile after quarter moving to the top. Another step forward could even see him pull off the upset this week. (9) CONTROL THE POWER got a perfect drive in his latest to pull off the upset win, but now draws wide. He has versatility, but I think being forward is his best course of action to land him at least a minor share. (6) DELIGHTFUL LEADER was searching for room late after being forwardly placed, but never got enough momentum going. He can round out this Hi-5 tonight.
