AE: NW OF 6 RACES OR $100,000 LIFETIME. (4) CODENAME CIGAR BOX is coming off a 4th place effort vs. tougher company. He takes a drop in class and was bet down as the favorite in a strong 2nd place effort at a similar level two starts back. I’ll give him the nod to kick off tonight’s card. (1) LOUS WORLD was a strong 2nd in his latest to a classier rival. He has hit the board in 4 of 5 tries and should be able to work out a nice trip from the inside. (2) NO CONTROL disappointed as the choice in his latest. He didn’t have much pop late in a 4th place effort and will now be making his 3rd start on Lasix. He has a chance if he’s at his best. (10) AMERICAN HISTORY drops out of the Preferred after a pair of non-competitive tries. He has to start from the far outside, but will likely be looking to chase horses late, and could prove tough to fend off if he’s back to his old self. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: CANADIAN SIRED GRADUATE SERIES PACE FINAL: CANADIAN SIRED 4 YEAR OLD MARES. (1) COCO JO JO went to the front and won easily in leg 1 of this Canadian Graduate Series. She could find herself on the front yet again early and will be the one to beat here. (4) SORCHA SEELSTER worked out a perfect, two-hole trip to the choice and was unable to get to her. She was drifting out in the lane which ultimately cost her 2nd and she can bounce back with a strong showing here. (5) COLLUSION HANOVER was moving well late in the mile to round out the exacta. She draws the middle of the gate, and we could see a more aggressive approach this evening. (3) RESILIENCE was purchased by new connections and will now race out of the Jodie Cullen barn. She can grab a share. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Mohawk Park card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: POP UP SERIES: HORSES & GELDINGS NW $20,000 OR NOT AVERAGING $1,700 PER START IN 2025 (MIN 8 STARTS). LEG 1 (4) ACAPULCO SUNBURN is coming off a very sharp, 3rd place finish where he flashed good pace late. He had a troubled trip where he was locked in on the inside behind a rival who wasn’t advancing and was absolutely airborne. He was claimed out of that contest and will now race out of the Amanda Riley barn, and should be tough to beat if he can replicate anything close to that effort. (2) CONTROL THE POWER never had a chance drawing pp9 in his most recent try. He was moving very well late in the mile and just missed for 2nd. He draws inside, will pick up Doug McNair and is a contender this evening; using (1) STASH IT AWAY exits the same race as the choice and finished ahead of him to be 2nd. He was locked in on the inside and got clearance late in the mile, but didn’t have nearly the same amount of pace as the choice. He will race for the Jodie Cullen barn and can put forth a good effort; using underneath. (6) LARCENY was never a factor from an outside draw in his latest. He was 2nd off a perfect trip and as a result of an improved draw, we should see a more aggressive approach this evening. Race 4: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER NW $15,000 (ON SIRED $18,750) LIFETIME. (6) HAZARDOS got towed into contention off a perfect trip but responded by uncorking a :26 4/5.4 final quarter. He drifted out just like he did in his qualifying preps, but was still pacing hard in those efforts. He picks up James MacDonald for this contest and he should be tough to fend off; top call. (10) TIP OF TIME will be making his 3YO debut off a pair of qualifying efforts in Florida. He draws pp10 but should be able to grab a big piece despite the draw, and is one that should have every opportunity to hit the ticket. (8) COASTLINE was never a factor after drawing pp10 in his 3YO debut. He paced well at the end of it to be 7th in that contest and he could be in store for a more aggressive approach with a start under his belt. (3) DEVILS WISH is coming off a pair of qualifiers, where he was 3rd in his most recent. He was pacing hard at the end of it and draws well for his 3YO debut. Race 5: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 2 RACES OR $30,000 (OS $37,500) LIFETIME. (2) LITE UP THE WORLD will be making his 3YO after a two-year-old campaign that saw it be cut short due to injury. As a rookie, this son of American Ideal won twice in four starts, while posting a pair of sub-1:52 victories in the process. His most recent qualifier was a winning effort in which he was under a good hold to driver James MacDonald, and he is probably the most talented colt in this field. I’ll give him top honours here. (5) TH KAY C CRUNCH will be making his 3YO debut off a pair of runner-up qualifying efforts. He was moving well late in the mile in both of those efforts, and flashed plenty of pace to boot. He draws well and will likely be aggressively handled, and should be given every opportunity in this spot here. (1) SMILING DANCER will be making his 3YO debut off a pair of very nice qualifying efforts. He’s flashed very good speed late in both of those miles, and is one that could prove to be a major threat late in the mile. (7) BLUE BAR is coming off a strong qualifying effort where he was 2nd in that outing. This colt had a strong rookie campaign and looked primed for a good effort here, but did hook deep group at first asking. Race 6: CANADIAN SIRED GRADUATE SERIES TROT FINAL: CANADIAN SIRED 4 YEAR OLDS. (2) PAQUET has done no wrong in his first two starts of 2025. He was an impressive winner in his latest, where he was able to chase down a rival who looked like he was going to get away from him. He will be the overwhelming choice in this Graduate Final and will be tough to beat. (3) WILLY HOME RUN never had a chance when she got away towards the back from pp9. She draws inside and should have every opportunity to be an exacta player in start #3 this season. (7) SID THE KID has grabbed the place spot in four straight starts. He will be aggressively handled and should stick around for a share. (1) R PEAKY BLINDERS made a miscue in his latest. If he trots, he can grab a share and land somewhere on the ticket. Race 7: NW $9,500 LAST 5 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $50,000. (2) PACINO HANOVER worked out a tough trip when he got away at the back from pp10. He had speed to chase but had a rival who pulled in front of him and wasn’t able to advance. He paced well late to be a strong 2nd, but lost to a rival who got a much cleaner trip. He draws inside and should have every opportunity here. (7) JACK PANIC finished 3rd to a very sharp rival in what was a big mile. He is a threat if he can work out the right trip and driver Jonathan Drury will give him every opportunity. (3) UNCLE SHANK A was never a factor in his latest from pp9. He was coming into his first start of 2025 off a pair of strong qualifiers and is one that might be even better with a start under his belt. (1) LAMBORGHINI LOU was never a factor in what was his first pari-mutuel start since February. He can grab a share here. Race 8:  PREFERRED (5) BRUE HANOVER comes into this race having won five in a row. He draws well again in this contest and will be the one to beat as he looks for his sixth straight. (6) JABBERWOCKY left out aggressively and followed the choice in his latest. He didn’t have much to offer late in the stretch and faded to 4th. He had been flashing wicked, late speed in both starts prior to that effort and can bounce back with a better effort here. (9) WRITE ME A ROSE was game in victory as he fended off a pocket sitter. He was airborne at this level two starts back, just missing to the choice. He starts from pp9 which is the only negative here. (8) TAURASI wasn’t much of a factor in his latest, but is capable of much better. He can hit the ticket. Race 9: FILLIES & MARES, NW $9,000 LAST 5 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $50,000. (2) CHIEFS DREAM GIRL never got an opportunity to work out a good trip. She does her best work late in the mile and this is a race that should result in having speed to chase; top call. (8) COZ IM SPECIAL was a strong winner in her latest after a troubled trip in her start prior. She takes on similar company and she could put forth a similar result this evening. (7) STYLE FOR A MILE disappointed as the overwhelming chalk in her latest. She does her best work when she is on the engine and she is handy enough to get there if need be. (5) CHARMBRO STORMY has failed to hit the board over her last two tries. She draws well and adds Lasix in this contest and that might be all she needs to get back on track. Race 10: CANADIAN SIRED GRADUATE SERIES PACE FINAL: CANADIAN SIRED 4 YEAR OLDS. (4) CHAIN GANG was ultra-impressive in defeat, pacing a very quick last quarter to get up for 2nd. It was his first start of his 4YO campaign, and this horse could be sitting on an even bigger effort this evening. I’ll give him top honors here. (1) CENTURY KOMODO has been a perfect 2-2 since shipping in from the United States and entering the barn of Dave Menary. He has shown versatility in being able to get the job done either way, and he will be the one to beat here. (5) FUNTIME BAYAMA finished 3rd in his most recent outing in what was his first start in almost one year. He was drifting a little bit in the stretch but still put forth a solid effort. He should be even better coming into tonight and he is capable of a big effort. (3) MERIGO MAGIC empty given the trip he worked out. He can be a threat if he is better but is tough to love off that effort. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 11: POP UP SERIES: HORSES & GELDINGS NW $20,000 OR NOT AVERAGING $1,700 PER START IN 2025 (MIN 8 STARTS). LEG 1. (5) CENTURY INSPECTOR left out aggressively and quickly got shuffled to 3rd immediately. He was trapped along the inside turning for home, and was unable to find clearance until late. He appeared to have pace and finds a soft to his liking here; top call. (3) NIGHTIME DANCER never saw a set of pylons in his latest – in what was a 4th place effort. (1) JK VICTORY ships in from tries at The Meadows. This is a softer spot than some of the competition he’s faced as of late and he is in with a chance. (6) SERIOUSLY HANOVER rounded out the super in his latest and he’ll have every opportunity to do the same here. Race 12: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 3 RACES OR $63,250 (OS $87,750) LIFETIME. (5) BEN LOOKIN made an aggressive move early in the backside and drew away to a dominant score. He had been knocking on the door in his efforts prior and should be able to replicate another strong effort despite the step up in class; top call. (8) SAUBLE WILSON left out aggressively from the 10 hole and was locked in behind rivals. He hung around to be 3rd in that contest and should be even tighter going into tonight; contender. (1) WALLACE HARTLEY was aggressively handled and faced constant pressure throughout. He deserved to win that race but got picked off by a rival who had fresh legs; using. (10) FIFTH AND FIVE will make his 3YO debut off a pair of qualifiers. Unfortunately for him, he draws pp10, so I’ll slot him in underneath. (7) HONOLULU VACATION benefited off a duel in front of him and was able to pick off some tired rivals late. He is sharp, but I’d imagine he needs a similar pace scenario to work out in his favor, and I simply prefer others.
