A bit of a tough one to kick off the Pick 5 because this is a field that Dan Patch Award winner (1) SYLVIA HANOVER should handle easily to kick off her sophomore campaign, but the break in her May 19th qualifier gives pause. I guess you either single or pitch her. (2) INTOTHEMYSTICMOON raced decently in the mares Juravinski memorial, and she is the most likely to topple the choice if you are trying to beat her. (6) SPEAKER NANCY should improve enough here to take a share. (3) BETTER BE DONNA N comes off a game win, but these are tougher; small share predicted.

Race 2: NW $8,000 L5 or NW1 in 2023 AE: OPT CLM $40,000

(5) I AMA ROCKET is one of the hottest horses on the grounds and you know what he will bring to the track every week. The same can't be said for some of the class droppers in this field so I will side with this hot gelding in a spot where he should offer a square price. (2) LAWLESS SHADOW hasn’t won in along time, but this is a big class drop; now or never? (1) ACAPULCO SUNBURN should be ready to fire his best shot making his third start back and he could trip out in this spot; using. (8) DREAMFAIR ARNIE B likely closes from the back to take a slice here.

Race 3: 5YO and Younger NW $15,000 LT

(9) VERDUN adds Lasix after failing to get the job done twice as the chalk. Roy speed blast coming now? Maritime invader (4) SPEED SNIP looked good winning his local debut here last week, producing a big kick in deep stretch. This improving Sweet Lou gelding could be good for another here; using. (3) BIG DREAM FELLA won well at this level then he missed three weeks. Your call, but I'm inclined to try to beat him. (8) WISE THINKING was much better in his second start, and he should be closing again tonight; using underneath.

Race 4: Horses that have started for a purse of $15K or less in 1 of L3 - Pick 4

(8) BAYFIELD BEACH tried hard to chase down a big chalk last week and he looks best of this group; top call. (7) ARTIES IDEAL wasn’t far behind the choice at the wire and his big late kick gives him a chance tonight; using. (1) WIND BLOWN couldn't be much sharper but I'm not sure he'll get the trip he needs starting from the rail tonight. I'll use him underneath. (5) REAL WILLEY will likely flash speed and stick around for another small share.

Race 5: 5YO and Younger winners of 2 but not more than 4 or $45,000 LT AE: 4YO and 5YO to be claimed for $50,000

(7) MOMENT IS HERE outclasses these and J Mac sides with him over the Gallucci horse that starts from the rail. I think this gelding grinds out a first-over win tonight. (6) DRAGON ENERGY took a new life's mark racing off the Montini claim, and he should be the main threat. (3) H P MOMENTUM should be flying late again to land in the exotics. (5) THE LEGEND HANOVER will probably get stung early again in this spot. I'll play to beat him.

Race 6: 5YO and Younger NW $15,000 LT - Pick 5

(1) WARRAWEE YANKEE was aggressive in his sophomore debut, but the hot fractions took their toll late. He should be tight as a drum now and he gets top billing here. (7) MIDNIGHT NATION exits the same race, and he suffered a similar fate as the choice after setting the big fractions. He showed what he can do when he gets an easier trip two starts back; using. (8) TELLLAURAILOVEHER was motoring late at a big price. He should rally for another share tonight. (3) IKES DREAM fits better here, and he can land in the exotics.

Race 7: 5YO and Younger NW2 or $30,000 LT - Pick 4

(7) ACE OF ACES wasn't beaten far in his sophomore debut by monstrous No Control. He should jog on these at a tiny price. (2) REIGN SUPREME fits better here and he could provide some Exacta value. (1) BRUE HANOVER raced tough in a fast race last time now he adds Lasix. The Exacta with him under the choice will likely be paying about five bucks. (3) GANDOLF THE BLACK should sit a decent trip and land in the bottom of the exotics.

Race 8: NW $14,000 L5 or $29,150 L10 AE: NW 10 LT

(7) ENERGETIC HANOVER's 2023 debut from the worst post in a Juravinski elim was decent and McNair sticks with him here despite having some options. I'll give him a slight nod expecting an aggressive try. (2) CODENAME CIGAR BOX fits well vs. these and he could do if he can find a live helmet to follow this week; using. (4) BEYOND BETTER has been driven aggressively by Sorrie in the two starts where he has been in the bike. He races better stalking and closing and I think he sits and rallies tonight. That gives him a chance. (1) THE LONGEST YARD should take a share on the slight class drop.

Race 9: NW $25,500 L5

(5) MOMAS SON BYRNE looks best on the drop here and he should get a setup for his strong late kick; top call. (3) CENTURY HEINEKEN was good in defeat last week and he will likely be the one to catch again; using. (2) SERIOUSLY HANOVER is an interesting shipper moving into Menary's barn and getting Roy in the bike. He is another possibility for late multi-race tickets. (7) COMMANDING OFFICER will likely close from the back and land in the bottom of the exotics.

Race 10: NW $4,000 L5 AE: NW $5,600 in 2023 (Minimum 3 starts)

(8) THE GREEK FREAK gets to drop here after having a decent return race vs. better and he gets top billing. (1) TYGA HANOVER drops out of the same race as the choice, and he should be closer early in this mile; Exacta factor. (6) HES SWIFT beat similar two starts back but I prefer to use him underneath in this spot. (7) SHADOW IN RED finished ahead of the top two choices last time and he is in the exotics mix here likely racing close to the front again. (5) ACTOR HANOVER continues to race well, and he likely closes for another share tonight.
