Top Pick Stats: 216/621 = -$52.40 Best Bets: 15/58 = –$12.20; Spot Plays: 17/58 = +$4.60 Best Bet: SOARING NOW (RACE 7) Spot Play: AQUINAS HANOVER (RACE 6) Early Pick 5: 2/1/2,8/5,6/3,4,5 = $2.40 Late Pick 5 6/5/2,7,8/3/2,5 = $1.20 Race 1: NW $17,000 LAST 5 OR NW $27,500 LAST 10 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $70,000. (2) POSEIDON SEELSTER has failed to hit the board over his last couple of tries at the Preferred level. He takes a big drop in class here and draws inside, and he should have every opportunity to sit close, and work out a trip to the winner’s circle here. (9) WHICHWAYTOTHEBEACH is also dropping out of the Preferred level after a pair of tries in which he failed to hit the board as well. He draws outside but will more than likely be activated off the car, and that makes him a major player here. (8) COLD CREEK QUESO wasn’t a factor in his latest. He drew outside and was making his first start in one month, but finished up nicely in that contest. He would’ve been one that I would’ve pegged on top, if not for the pair of class droppers above. (5) CODENAME CIGAR BOX drew pp10 in his latest and was a take down right away. He was just okay in that effort but he had a lot of things going against him. He draws better and should close well for a share. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2:  ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GOLD LEG 1: 3 YEAR OLD PACING FILLIES. (1) CHANTILLY improved her perfect record (10-10) in a winning, 2025 debut. She worked out a perfect trip and was able to score a measured victory under wraps to driver James MacDonald. She was running in a bit in the lane, but that was as a result of some heavy winds, and she should be even better this time around in this first OSS Gold. (3) MILLIE MAY HANOVER was a strong 2nd to the choice last time out. She is winless in 14 career tries, but that recent showing was the best in her young career, and she should have every opportunity to grab a big piece once again. (2) WICKEDPACE will be making her 2nd start of 2025. She last raced 3 weeks ago, but should be tight enough to be competitive in this affair, and will have every opportunity to hit the ticket. (5) PERFECTLY CHIC was sent out for early speed in her latest, and hung around to grab a share. She draws well and can do the same here this evening. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Mohawk Park card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: NW $9,000 LAST 5 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $50,000. (8) B STONEY is coming off a scintillating, 1:48.4 score, which is the fastest mile in Canada so far this year. He was claimed out of that contest by new trainer Dave Menary, and he’ll have every opportunity to double up off that eye-catching performance. (2) UNCLE SHANK A was aggressively handled off the class drop in his latest, and scored in gate to wire fashion. He moves up slightly here but should be able to compete with this bunch; he’s a major threat. (4) SOUTHSIDE EDDY was aggressively handled in his latest as the choice, and got picked off by the pocket sitter in that affair. He has another favorable draw to work with, and he should be able to work out another favorable trip here. (7) BATTERUP HANOVER closed for a share in his latest and he can do the same here. Race 4: NW $9,000 LAST 5 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $50,000. (5) HOWMAC VICTOR was my top pick last time out and he tired late in the mile. He was claimed out of that contest by new trainer Kyle Fellows, and will not race on the Lasix medication. He draws well, should be aggressively handled here, and I’ll give him the nod to bounce back. (6) ORDER ONE TO GO rallied nicely to be a distant 2nd to a strong, front-end winner. He drew pp10 last time out and should be much more dangerous with the draw he works with this evening, and could prove tough to fend off late. (7) CENTURY INSPECTOR is coming off a sweep of the most recent Pop Up Series. He’s been aggressively handled in each of those victories and I would expect the tactics to remain the same here. (3) MAJOR FERNCO N is coming off a 3rd place effort vs. a winner who paced the fastest mile in Canada so far in 2025. HE will now race for new trainer Garry Merner Jr. and can be competitive here. Race 5: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER NW $18,000 (ON SIRED $27,250) LIFETIME. (4) REIGNING CAPTAIN disappointed as the choice in his latest, and got a clean trip in the process. He is capable of a bounce back effort and I’ll give him the nod here in a wide open race to close out the early p5. (3) CHARLIES WISH was aggressively handled last time out and got picked off by a pair of rivals who could be a touch faster right now. He should be pointed forward off the gate and he can work out a favorable journey here. (5) ARSON SEELSTER comes over from Rideau off some sharp efforts. It remains to be seen how big of a factor he can be in here, but he should be brimming with confidence. I’ll throw him on a p5 ticket. (8) VOLCANIC is a perfect 3-3 in his young career, but will take on his toughest test to date. He draws outside and is coming off a solid qualifying effort. He can get involved, but he’ll need to find more here. Race 6: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GOLD LEG 1: 3 YEAR OLD PACING COLTS & GELDINGS. (6) AQUINAS HANOVER paced home in :26 3/5, in an effort where he just missed. He took a while to get going in that defeat, and with a better draw here, he should have opportunity to work out an easier trip, and is one that I’ll side with to pick off rivals late; top call. (7) BLUE BAR was 2nd behind a very strong rival in his latest. He draws outside and should be put in play early on; he merits respect. (8) BOXER SEELSTER was 3rd in his seasonal debut behind a very strong winner. He added Lasix in that contest and should be even tighter coming into this contest. He is likely the one to beat in this spot if he can piece it all together this evening, and merits plenty of respect despite an outside draw. (1) READYFORPRIMETIME drew the second-tier last time out and closed late for a minor share. He has his nose on the gate in his 3rd start of his career, and I’m looking forward to see what kind of effort he can put forth this evening. He’s one to monitor. Race 7:  PREFERRED. (5) SOARING NOW will now race out of the Victory Puddy barn, after being purchased by new connections. He is coming off a pair of strong victories in the United States, and should be brimming with confidence this evening. He takes a step up in class, but he has competed vs. these types plenty of times, and should be sitting on a good effort this evening. (3) TAURASI was hinting at a more aggressive approach last time out and that’s what he did en route to a gate to wire score. He loses his regular pilot who will be competing in Sweden, but picks up the services of Tyler Jones this evening, who sits behind a live driver here. (9) JABBERWOCKY wasn’t able to pick up a position in his latest but paced very well late in that effort. He draws outside but he is one to monitor late, if he is within reach. (2) CENTURY KOMODO will return to the big track after being a non factor in his Charles Juravinski elimination. He should appreciate the longer stretch and can grab a good piece. Race 8: WINNERS OF 3 BUT NOT MORE THAN 6 RACES OR $80,000 (OS $100,000) LIFETIME. (8) AYEAYE CAPTAIN DEO is a perfect 2-2 to start his sophomore campaign. He will be making his first start since 5/1, but is coming off a strong, winning qualifying effort in preparation for this contest. He should be given every opportunity to keep his perfect streak intact here. (2) STORM SHADOW was a non factor in the Charles Juravinski final, and has been taking on tougher company in four starts this year. He draws inside and should be given every chance to pick up his first win here. (7) BOURBON COUNTY will be making his sophomore debut and is coming off a trio of winning qualifiers in preparation for it. He looked strong in those efforts, and will make his sophomore debut off a rookie campaign that saw him find the winner’s circle 6 times in 13 tries. He can sit a good trip and is one to monitor. (6) A CLASS YANKEE will make his first start since capturing the Snowshoe Pacing Series Final. He is coming off a nice qualifying prep and can hit the ticket here. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 9: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GOLD LEG 1: 3 YEAR OLD PACING COLTS & GELDINGS. (3) CRACK SHOT has kickstarted his 3YO campaign with a pair of very strong victories. He will be the overwhelming choice in this spot and will be tough to take down; James MacDonald will be at the controls. (8) STONEBRIDGE WIZARD will make his sophomore debut after a rookie campaign that saw him take home O’Brien Award honors in Canada. He will add Lasix for this contest, and will pick up the services of Travis Cullen here. He can round out the exacta. I’m not sure what went amiss for (4) FIFTH AND FIVE in his latest, but he’s better than what he showed last time out. He has a better draw here and he can bounce back with a better effort here. (1) SMILING DANCER was aggressively handled and was unable to fend off a pair of talented rivals. He will likely take an off the pace approach here and can close late for a share. Race 10: NW $6,000 LAST 5 STARTS (2) STONEBRIDGE HELIOS was coming off a very strong, 3rd place effort two starts back, then drew outside last time out and took back towards the back. He draws inside this evening, and he should have every opportunity to get back to his winning ways; Jody Jamieson is aboard this evening. (5) PIPEWRENCH CHARLIE hasn’t hit the board over his last two tries. He draws the middle of the gate, and this is a night where I could see him showing speed. He’s a threat, if so. (8) SOUTHWIND SAMBUCCA was aggressively handled in his latest and faded to fourth in that contest. He can show speed again, and that’ll be good enough to stick around for a share. (3) HUNTER HILL was a distant 2nd to a strong winner in his latest. He steps up but he will more than likely take advantage of his inside draw; he can hit the ticket. (6) CRUISE HANOVER hasn’t hit the board over his last two tries, but he can hit the ticket with the right trip. He flashes some speed late.
