(8) GENTLEONMYMIND finished a good 2nd to a dominant winner in his latest. He draws outside yet again and will likely have to work a little harder to secure a good spot off the gate early, but should be given every chance to kick off the card with a victory. (1) ELLIOT MOOSE has failed to hit the board in three starts since joining the Jodie Cullen barn. He was moving okay in the late stages and might be able to work out a trip that has him within striking distance. (5) WIND BLOWN is coming off a clunker in his latest. He draws well and will likely be summoned early, and is capable of taking this group gate-to-wire if he’s at his best this evening; using. (4) ONTOP RAINMAN came first up vs. a game winner and finished 4th. He can grab a share. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2:  NEW HOLLAND PACING SERIES: NW $150,000 (FM $175,000) IN 2024. (7) BRUE HANOVER will ship in from the US to participate in this New Holland Series and will race out of the Dave Menary barn. He has two wins over his last four starts while taking on stiff company and should be the one to beat here tonight. (5) WHATCHULOOKIN AT is coming off a gate-to-wire score after dropping in class in his most recent. He draws well, should be able to work out a nice trip, and will be the biggest threat to his stablemate in this spot. (1) COLD CREEK QUESO had no room to shoot up the inside in his latest and had momentum stalled when he had to try and find room in between rivals. He seems like he’s rounding into form and can get a big piece here. (3) MELANION N was never given a chance in his latest when getting away towards the back of the pack. It was his first start in over one month since shipping in from the US and he should be much tighter coming into tonight. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Mohawk Park card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: POP UP SERIES: HORSES & GELDINGS NW $30,000 IN 2024 (MIN 15 STARTS). (5) BATTERUP HANOVER hasn’t had much pop late in the stretch as we’ve been accustomed to seeing from him in weeks prior. He draws well and hooks a field that has been underperforming and should be able to find the winner’s circle if he’s anything close to his best. (2) HOWMAC VICTOR never had much of a chance from pp9 but finished up okay to grab a share. He draws inside and can get a big piece this evening. (3) MAJOR HILL never left the rail and didn’t have much to offer in the stretch. It was his first start in one month and he likely needed that tightener; he can improve here. (6) WHY WOULDNT YA didn’t have much to offer in his latest, but has hit the board in four consecutive starts prior. He can grab a piece. Race 4: 4 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER NW $15,250 (ON SIRED $24,250) LIFETIME. (6) STIRRUP LANE is coming off an impressive effort in his career debut, as he scored easily under tight lines to driver James MacDonald. He steps up here in start number two but will be an overwhelming choice to double up. (7) BETTORSEETHESHOW rallied nicely off the pace in his latest to score his second victory of his career. He will likely look for a helmet to chase and will be the biggest threat to the one above. (9) BEN LOOKIN was aggressively handled from pp10 and tired turning for home to finish 4th. He was pumped up on the engine and could come away with a better result with a different kind of trip. (1) GYPSY JOE didn’t have much to offer last in his first start for new trainer Daniel Gassien. He’s a horse I would use to round out exotics in hopes he can show his form from his most recent qualifier. Race 5: NW $8,000 LAST 5 OR $20,000 LAST 10 STARTS.  AE: OPT. CLM. $50,000. (9) SOUTHSIDE EDDY was taken to last off the gate in his latest after moving up in class and drawing pp9. He paced a fast back-half to be a strong-closing 4th and looks ready to step forward off that effort. He draws outside here yet again, but is capable of showing early footing off the gate and we’ll give him top honors in a competitive affair. (5) HUNGRY MAN was just okay last time out in a 3rd place effort. He will reunite with Doug McNair who guided him to a 2nd place effort at this level three starts back and will definitely be taking advantage of his draw here this evening. (4) CONTROL THE POWER is coming off back-to-back, dominant scores at Flamboro and is coming into this event brimming with confidence. He can be competitive in this spot and is a must-use in multi-leg wagers. (8) LIVINTHEBEACHLIFE hasn’t hit the board over his last two tries and takes a dip in class this evening. He has the ability to take down this group of class alone and will take support at the windows, but is one that I will look to play against this evening. Race 6: NEW HOLLAND PACING SERIES: NW $150,000 (FM $175,000) IN 2024. (6) AMERICAN HISTORY is coming off back-to-back, runner-up finishes since joining Dave Menary’s barn, and has disappointed as the choice in each of those efforts. He might get overlooked in this division of the New Holland Series, and is one that I’m willing to buy back some value on; top call. (7) EMMETTS BUDDY will make his first start of 2025 as he gears up for this series. He is coming off two strong qualifiers and seems fit enough to get the job at first asking. (3) PACINO HANOVER was tight on Emmetts Buddy’s helmet turning for home in his recent qualifier and angled out late to take his shot. He was likely never going by but looks like he’s tight enough to get a good piece; he just needs a trip. (1) POWERTRAIN didn’t have much pop in his latest given the trip he worked out. He’s capable of a strong effort but will likely need a trip to develop. Race 7:  WINNERS OF 3 BUT NOT MORE THAN 5 RACES OR $80,000 (OS $100,000) LIFETIME. (3) JK TOGETHER AGAIN has been an easy winner in both starts for new trainer Meg Crone. He’s moving up in class but should be able to triple-up here. (4) TROSA A had too much work to do late in the mile but was pacing very late in the lane. He could be a threat to the one above if he can work out a trip behind him, I think. (6) OVERTHINKING is coming off a 2nd-place effort. I find this to be a tougher group and while a win might be out of the question, he can grab a piece. (9) WANNABEABIGSTAR didn’t hit the board in his latest but was moving well late; he can grab a share, even from pp9. Race 8: POP UP SERIES: HORSES & GELDINGS NW $30,000 IN 2024 (MIN 15 STARTS). (5) PIPEWRENCH CHARLIE showed some good interest late in the mile finishing well between rivals. He draws well in this spot and could be summoned off the gate, and can work out a good trip because of it. (2) MAJOR FERNCO N is coming off an impressive score in his latest despite missing one month coming into that effort. He should be even tighter and will be the one to beat in this spot. (6) PARTYINTHESHADOWS rallied late to grab the show spot. He will need to work out a trip but will have every chance to hit the ticket. (4) HURRIKANE CHEYENNE scored off a pocket trip and is coming into this second leg racing very well. This is a tongue group this evening and he can grab a share. Race 9: PREFERRED. (4) POSEIDON SEELSTER was under very tight lines to driver Bob McClure and was running over rivals late in the mile in his most recent effort. He draws well and will likely be aggressively handled in this spot and should be the one to beat off that effort; top call. (5) TAURASI was a distant 3rd in his most recent qualifier. He is the most talented horse in this field but is one I’m willing to play against in this spot tonight. (6) ODDS ON CAPITALISM is coming off back-to-back wins and has been perfect since entering the Raphael Bourassa barn. He’s sharp and will be in with a shot here. (2) MERIGO MAGIC has been strong in victory in both starts since coming to Ontario under new trainer Garry Merner. He takes another big step up in class and will likely need a start to get acclimated at this level. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 10: POP UP SERIES: HORSES & GELDINGS NW $30,000 IN 2024 (MIN 15 STARTS). (5) HESINCONTROL made his debut in the Jodie Cullen barn and won with absolute ease. He draws well yet again and will be tough to look past. (7) HIGHLANDBEACHLOVER was picked off by the pocket (1) HUNTER HILL is coming off a gate-to-wire score in his latest. He hooks a deeper group overall this evening and will likely be racing for a share. (2) HOWMAC MAXIMUS couldn’t convert off a perfect trip and finished 3rd. He draws inside and can hang around for a piece. Race 11: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 2 RACES OR $38,500 (OS $43,250) LIFETIME. AE: NW $9,500 IN 2024-25. (7) REGIL BUBB couldn’t keep up turning for home and was unable to angle off the cones in that effort. He had a lot of pace when they reached the straight away but couldn’t gather enough momentum to score the victory. He has shown early speed off the wings and can find himself back in the winner’s circle this evening; top call. (2) SETTHEWORLDONFIRE is coming off, back-to-back 2nd place finishes and appears to be inching closer to a victory. He draws inside and will be given every chance. (6) WORLD REVIVAL is coming off a win at Flamboro. He returns to the big track where he notched a victory in 2024 and can grab a piece. (4) HONOLULU VACATION comes into this race having not raced since 2/22 and was scratched-lame in his latest. He likely needs a start but can grab a share. (3) PURELY WICKED hasn’t hit the board over his last two tries. He should have every opportunity to hit the ticket.
