Top Pick Stats: 14-74 / (-$75.90) Best Bets: 2-7 / (-$6.80) Spot Plays: 1-7 / (+6.00) Best Bet: WHATCHULOOKIN AT (RACE 8) Spot Play: IVY PARK (RACE 3) Early Pick 5: 10/1,5/4/3,4,6/1,5,6,8 = $4.80 Late Pick 5: 1,2,3,4/9/8/5,7,9/1,6 = $4.80 Race 1:  5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 RACE (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $9,000 OR LESS 2 RACES) OR $8,500 LIFETIME. *75,000 GTD PICK 5* (10) STIRRUP LANE is a full brother to O’Brien Award winner, Silver Label, and will be making his career debut after being unraced at 2 and 3. He hails from post 10 in this contest but is coming off a very strong qualifier, under tight lines to James MacDonald and should be able to find the winner’s circle against this group at first-asking. (7) BEACHOFANERA went on a speed mission in his latest and was picked off late. It was a much-improved effort from his first start on the big track and he’s one that can put forth another solid effort. (3) SMOKIN HOT SCOTT disappointed as the overwhelming choice in his latest. He was second in both starts prior and he should be good enough to bounce back and secure a piece. (1) LONGSHOT PANIC has finished 3rd over his last three starts and he looks good enough to grab another share in this spot. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2:  PREFERRED. (5) JABBERWOCKY was moving best of them all late in the mile off a third-over trip, despite his main foes having the jump on him in that contest. He’s won 3 in a row and is currently too sharp to go against right now. (1) POWERTRAIN was second over and had the jump on the choice but got picked off in the final strides. He’s been no worse than 3rd over his last four tries at this level and should be right there once again. (4) POSEIDON SEELSTER has been no worse than 3rd over his last three tries at this level. He draws well, will likely be forwardly placed, but needs to find a little extra vs. this current group right now. (3) WHICHWAYTOTHEBEACH was moving well up the inside late in the mile and is one that looks like he is inching closer to a victory at this level, just likely not tonight. Race 3: WINNERS OF 3 BUT NOT MORE THAN 5 RACES OR $80,000 (OS $100,000) LIFETIME. (4) IVY PARK was sitting in a perfect striking position in his latest before putting in steps heading into the final turn. It was an uncharacteristic break that was made by a horse who seems to be trending in the right direction. I’m willing to forgive that showing and I’ll come right back in hopes of a trip to the winner’s circle. (3) WANNABEABIGSTAR was conservatively handled in his latest after a winning effort at this class two starts back. He was off 3 weeks in between starts and should be tighter being back on a regular rotation.  (6) RJ RINGO was aggressively handled in his latest and got picked off by the pocket sitter. He is sharp and has shown versatility since entering the care of Ondrej Gois and warrants respect. (1) KAPTAIN KARLOS was 3rd at this level last time out in what was his 2nd start of 2025. He should be tighter and can grab a share. Race 4: NW $17,000 (ON SIRED $25,600) LIFETIME. (6) TROSA A disappointed as the lukewarm favorite in his latest after a very strong showing two starts back. He was on the lead in that contest and was picked off by the pocket sitter. He appears better when hunting horses late in the stretch and I’m willing to give him top billing here in hopes of that sort of trip. He was JMac’s choice of 3 in here. (4) BLUE VENTURA was moving well late in the mile to secure the place spot. It was by far his best effort since he started racing in Ontario and looks like he could be turning the corner. (3) FREE FLYING FREDDY cruised to an easy victory in his 3YO debut. He takes on a tougher group but should be brimming with confidence. (1) SETTHEWORLDONFIRE was aggressively handled in his latest but faded to 5th. He’s better than what he showed in that outing and will have every chance to hit the ticket. Race 5: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 RACE (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $9,000 OR LESS 2 RACES) OR $8,500 LIFETIME. (8) COLD CREEK PANTERA will be making his third start off his career and is coming off a break in his latest. He was moving okay in his debut and was one I was interested to watch in his start #2. This is a race that is difficult to land on one specific rival and I’ll give him a whirl in hopes of some value. (6) ROMAN GLADIATOR left out for early positioning and stuck around for 3rd. He had no chance vs. a dominant winner but is one that should be able to work out a favorable trip, which could be enough. (5) WICKED TURNS took a step back in his latest after a pair of solid showings in his starts prior. He has as good a chance as anyone in this field. (1) JIMMY HOOFFA finished 4th in his latest after a runner-up effort in his debut. I could see him wanting to make front early and seeing if that’s good enough to break his maiden. Race 6:  NW $2,675 LAST 5 STARTS. AE: NOT AVERAGING $900 PER START IN 2024-25. (3) NIGHTIME DANCER is coming off a lackluster performance. He takes a dip in class this evening and will pick up James MacDonald, who has a pair of wins and a pair of 3rd-place finishes in the six times they’ve been paired together; top call. (2) LARCENY was a runner up finisher in his most recent qualifier. This 5YO should be competitive in this spot and merits respect. (4) NO FOOL MACKINLEY is coming off a 3rd-place effort at Flamboro Downs. He has been no worse than 3rd in his last 4 tries and might appreciate getting a chance to stretch his legs this evening. (1) BETTER SUNSET was a winner in his most recent qualifier under some urging but fended off a rival to his outside. He’s had tough time finding the winner’s circle as of late but can put forth a solid showing at his best. Race 7:  FILLIES & MARES, NW $4,000 LAST 5 STARTS. (9) JK TOGETHER AGAIN put forth a dominant effort in his first start for new trainer Meg Crone. He draws outside, faces a similar group, and should be good enough to double up in this spot. (1) JMR SPEAK AWAY was a distant second to the choice. He draws inside and will have every chance to be an exacta player yet again. (6) WATCHING SUNSET finished 3rd to the two above. He draws well and should have every chance to hit the board yet again. (10) LOOKINLIKEAMILLION has hit the board in 2 of his last 3 tries. He does his best work in the late stages of the mile and he’ll have every opportunity to close for a share from pp10. Race 8:  NW $14,900 LAST 5 OR $23,500 LAST 10 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $70,000. AE: NW $100,000 LIFETIME. (8) WHATCHULOOKIN AT came first up in the Preferred last week and faded to be a close 5th. He drops down at a much more favorable spot tonight and should have every chance to find the winner’s circle. (6) AMERICAN HISTORY had too much ground to make up as the 2/5 favorite in his latest but was a strong 2nd. He will be making his second start for trainer Dave Menary and will prove to be his stablemate’s biggest threat here. (3) JACK PANIC left out aggressively from the 10-hole in his latest and was able to round out the trifecta. This is a tougher nw140000 class than it normally is, but he will have every chance to work out a good trip by virtue of his draw.  (4) REDWOOD HANOVER went on a speed mission and faltered to 4th. He is better suited when he has a target to chase and he can finish up late to grab a share here. Race 9:  NW $4,500 LAST 5 STARTS. AE: NW 2 RACES IN 2025 (MIN 5 STARTS). (7) SOUTHSIDE EDDY finished up well late in the mile last time out in a 6th place effort. He plummets further down the class ladder and should be able to bottom out this group tonight. (5) THE LIGHT SPEED also takes a dip down in class this evening. He’s a horse that does his better work on the engine and he will be fighting hard to get there with this draw. (9) MR IBIZA took heavy support at the windows and got picked off by the pocket sitter late. It was a much improved effort and he seems capable of another strong showing here.  (8) KOLBY TWO STEP didn’t look his best in the post parade last time out and he put forth an underwhelming effort given his trip. He’s capable of a good effort here but I’d want to see a start, or two before I consider him as a win candidate again. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 10: NW $9,475 LAST 5 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $50,000. AE: NW 2 RACES IN 2024-25. (1) NAZARE gets to sneak into this class off the AE condition. He was purchased by trainer Dave Menary who had trained him in the past, and put forth a winning debut back in his care. He looks poised to double up vs. this group. (6) HP LIS SHADOW is coming off a 4th place effort and hasn’t hit the board over his last two tries. He is better than what he’s shown as of late and should be competitive in this group. (3) CODE CRACKER couldn’t fire off a perfect, second-over trip. He has hit the board over his last three tries and has proven to be competitive in this group. (5) COLD CREEK QUESO has a class edge on his rivals and is coming off a winning qualifier in preparation for this contest. He fended off a rival coming up the inside but I’m not sure he’s ready for a winning effort here off that try. Race 11: NW $25,000 IN 2024-25 OR NOT AVERAGING $1,650 PER START IN 2024-25. (6) HIGHLANDBEACHLOVER closed well in his latest to be runner-up to a strong winner. This 9YO has been racing well and looks like he could be sitting on one of his vintage, gate-to-wire scores this evening. (3) PIPEWRENCH CHARLIE left out for early positioning in his latest, took a shuffle and re-rallied to be 3rd in that contest. He can sit close by virtue of an inside draw but will need a perfect trip to score. (2) ARMOR SEELSTER closed well to be 4th in his latest but had to start from the second-tier in that effort. He has his nose back on the gate and should be a threat because of that. (1) ENAVANT made his first start in 2025 against a pretty tough group. He takes a dip down in class and the classy veteran should put forth an improved effort this evening. (9) WIND BLOWN has hit the board in 4 of his last 6 tries and is handy enough to leave out from the outside and stick around for a share.
