He should be good enough to double up tonight. (1) WICKED TURNS put forth a solid career debut in a 4th place effort; he draws the pole position here and has a license to improve in start number two. Unraced as a rookie, (6) BETTORSEETHESHOW will enter this start off an okay, 3rd-place qualifying effort on 1/24. He picks up JMac and will start from the winningest post at Mohawk in his career debut, but I’ll have to see a start first. (4) MOOD CONTROL got up for a narrow score off a perfect trip; he draws well and can be in a prime spot to pick up a share.  [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: NW $8,000 LAST 5 OR NW $22,500 LAST 10 STARTS.  AE: OPT. CLM. $50,000. (4) BOOMING ECONOMY will debut here for new connections after being purchased in late December. He is coming off a winning qualifying effort on 1/24 and was under tight lines to driver Trevor Henry in the stretch. A $180k yearling purchase, this 4YO son of Captaintreacherous draws well and looks poised for a good effort tonight. (7) REDWOOD HANOVER made his first since November last time out and was aggressively handled off a strong qualifier; he should be tighter here and is among the main contenders. (2) BEE TWO BEE was airborne late in the stretch last time out returning to Ontario after another successful stint out East; he’ll be heard from late. (6) IVY PARK put forth an encouraging effort in a 4th place finish and can continue to build off that. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Mohawk Park card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: NW $4,000 LAST 5 OR NW $11,500 LAST 10 STARTS. (4) SPEAKER OF PEACE made a backside brush to take the lead and fell short to the pocket sitter. He will make his second start for new trainer Donald Lindsey, and will be paired with Bob McClure, who has guided this 4YO to 3 of his 8 career victories; top call. (8) KOLBY TWO STEP put forth an uninspiring performance as the favorite at this level on 1/11; he’s better than what he showed that night and is a threat, if right. (2) NEEDABANKLOAN was 3rd along the rail and was committed to the inside before the pocket sitter took that lane before he could; when he straightened out, he was gaining and could work out a nice trip here. (7) WIND BLOWN got harassed the entire mile by a rival who was parked to his outside and just tired late; he’s handy and racing well, but this is tougher company this evening. Race 4: NW $25,000 IN 2024-25 (MIN 10 STARTS) OR NOT AVERAGING $1,535 PER START IN 2024-25 (MIN 10 STARTS). (8) PIPEWRENCH CHARLIE was moving well late in the mile last time out in a 3rd-place effort; he should have pace to chase here but will likely need to be positioned in a decent spot early. (9) BATTERUP HANOVER needed every ounce of that perfect trip last time out as the co-favorite. He hadn’t raced for nearly a month going into that contest and should be tighter tonight. (2) HIGHLANDBEACHLOVER was issued a parking ticket last time out after vying for early positioning from the 10-hole. He had a license to get tired and is capable of a good effort at his best. (1) BROOKDALE JOHNNY finished a solid fourth and can find himself on the ticket this evening. Race 5: 4 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER NW $24,500 (ON SIRED $34,150) LIFETIME. (3) REGIL BUBB was ultra-impressive in defeat after being parked the entire mile at odds of 93/1, only to miss by a head in the end. With three wins in seven tries this year, this 4YO gelded-son of Bettors Delight draws well, and should prove tough to beat with a cleaner trip this evening. Having missed all of his 4YO campaign (5) CLINTS VETT has started off his 5YO season being 2-2. This son of All Bets Off has been impressive in both victories and merits respect here. (4) BLAZING CRUISER didn’t have much to offer last time out but has shown he’s capable of a strong effort; using underneath tonight. (2) HEY JUDE HANOVER exits tries in the Snowshoe and a Pop-up series and draws well enough to grab a piece. Race 6: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 RACE (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $9,000 OR LESS 2 RACES) OR $10,250 LIFETIME. $95,000 Lexington purchase (10) CAPTAIN CONNOR qualified impressively leading up to his pari-mutuel debut, but showed some greenness behind the gate, putting in steps as one of the race favorites. He draws the far outside in his second career try and I’m hoping he can overcome that mishap, along with the draw. If he replicates that qualifier, he should be good. (2) VOLCANIC followed up a sneaky-good qualifier with an easy, gate-to-wire score in his career debut and will likely be pointed forward here yet again; contender. (3) MARC IT UP has put forth a pair of good efforts since coming over to Ontario and he should be good enough to grab a piece here. (1) WILLIE B has hit the board in all three tries of his young career and has a strong chance to hit the ticket. Race 7: NW $15,500 LAST 5 OR $31,850 LAST 10 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $70,000. (8) HP LIS SHADOW has been no worse than 3rd over his last five tries and is coming off a very good effort in a quick mile given last Saturday’s conditions; top call. (9) THE GREEK FREAK sat the two hole chasing some pretty quick panels that the pace-setter was setting and hung around to be 4th; he’s a use here. (2) SOUTHSIDE EDDY has drawn outside in his last two tries and hasn’t been much of a factor; he could be a bigger threat with an inside draw. (1) CODENAME CIGAR BOX didn’t have much of a chance in his latest; he draws inside here and will be heard from late. Race 8: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 3 RACES OR $50,000 (OS $62,500) LIFETIME. (6) BEACH CRUISER couldn’t get to a well meant winner in his latest; he draws well again, should be summoned off the gate and can work out a winning trip in this spot; top call. (3) ONYX BOVINO got re-acclimated to the big track in his latest start in a 6th-place try; he draws better and has raced well here in the past. Value player underneath. (7) ON TIME DELIVERY was aggressively handled in his latest and was a narrow 4th; he seems to be trending in the right direction and is Doug McNair’s choice over the one below.  (1) HOLLYWOOD DEO scored a narrow victory off a perfect trip in his latest; he can hit the ticket. Race 9: PREFERRED. (6) PACINO HANOVER was stuck along the cones until late in the mile but exploded when he got clearance. He ran out of the racetrack to catch the eventual winner, but will be a big threat here off that effort. (1) POWERTRAIN worked out a perfect trip and was able to score at odds of 11/1 in what was his first start in three weeks. JMac takes over driving duties this evening and he should be much tighter. (8) JACK PANIC worked hard to make the front and then yielded for the pocket; he always put forth honest efforts and I don’t expect anything less here. (5) NO CONTROL tired on the lead last time out in his second start back off a layoff; Jody Jamieson will pick up the driving duties this evening and could respond with a better effort with a helmet to chase this evening. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 10:  WINNERS OF 3 BUT NOT MORE THAN 5 RACES OR $80,000 (OS $115,000) LIFETIME. (3) LAMBORGHINI LOU left out for early positioning as the race favorite but was stuck along the cones for most of his journey; he was gaining on rivals when shaking loose and should be poised for a bounce back effort this evening. (5) R J RINGO continues to do good things for driver/trainer Onrej Gois and will be one of the main contenders here tonight. (6) WANNABEABIGSTAR was a strong 2nd at this level last time out and is one to look out for with a potential change in tactics this evening. (8) BEACH COWBOY put forth a strong effort for new connections this evening but takes on tougher company this evening; he can hit the ticket. Race 11: FILLIES & MARES, NW $4,000 LAST 5 STARTS OR NW $12,250 LAST 10 STARTS. (2) HEY RUN ME OVER raced well in a 4th place effort on a very windy night that required you to be close. I like that he got an acclimating mile on the big track and I'll give him top billing in this spot tonight. (6) POINTS NORTH will make his first start since September and is coming off a trio of qualifiers. This 46-time winner draws well on the gate and has a major class edge over his rivals here; he merits respect.  (9) BEACHIN LINDY has put forth good efforts as of late; he draws outside and will be up against it early, but can close for a share. (1) LARCENY is coming off a second place qualifier but had no chance getting to the pace setter; he was under some urging and can close for a share here. (8) GOING FAST showed a different dimension on Monday night when he went on to a gate-to-wire score; he can round out the Hi-5.
