Top Pick Stats: 183/554 (-$199.80) Best Bets: 20/50 (-$22.60); Spot Plays: 9/51 (-$56.50) Best Bet: CUPID HALL (Race 6) Spot Play: DEVILS ARCH (Race 4) Early Pick-5: 5,6/1,2/3,7/1,10/4,5   $6.40 Late Pick-5: 3/1,5/5,7/2,3/1,7   $3.20 Race 1: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 2 (4 YEAR OLDS 3) RACES OR $20,000 (OS $28,750) LIFETIME. AE: NW $2,500 IN 2025. (5) HEY TRIXEY is an improving filly who tends to work from off the pace. I could see her working out a second over trip against a suspect bunch. I’ll price shop in tonight’s opener. (6) CABALLERO gets a similar description to what I said last week when picking him on top. When he’s right, he should win, but it doesn’t happen nearly as often as you would like it to as a bettor. J-Mac back on will only keep the price down. (8) ULTRA MYLES is another who is racing well, but usually finds himself a step or two behind the winner. He can get a piece. (2) HOUSTON SEELSTER has some early tactical speed that can get him into position, but the question with him is finishing. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 4. 2 YEAR OLD TROTTING FILLIES. STARTING FEE $400 CDN ($315 USD). (2) HP IMAGINE was a strong second after making two moves in the latest Grassroots leg. The two miscues before that didn’t bother Sorrie, as he drove her aggressively and put her in play. I’ll give her the nod to stay flat and stay rolling. (1) HP SOPHIA was able to get away well from the rail in her latest, and followed the big favorite around the track en route to a solid second. She could find that same trip tonight. (7) MY GHOST was a grinding second just four days ago. She is slowly improving and could work out an overland journey to pass some horses late. (6) BELLE BOUBOU is yet to hit the board in five career starts, but was a closing fourth last time. She can grab another share tonight. Race 3: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 4B. 2 YEAR OLD PACING FILLIES. STARTING FEE $400 CDN ($315 USD). (7) ON FLEEK hasn’t put a bad effort forward in five career starts. I would count on J-Mac to have her on the move early and in contention when turning for home. (3) C J DESBI stamped her versatility last week when only losing by over a length when racing from off the pace. She should get into the race no matter what trip comes her way. (2) TAKES NO BULL can work out another mid-pack trip and close to hit the board. I don’t see the front end speed fading enough to pull her by the rest. (1) FIVE STARR RATING was a dominant winner two starts ago but had a tough trip at Hanover last time out. She can round out the exotics tonight. Race 4: NW $9,000 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $18,000 LAST 8 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $50,000. (1) DEVILS ARCH was trying to work into contention from the back, but lost all chance when hooking wheels with another rival. He gets leading driver James Macdonald for his second start in the new barn. I could see a big effort coming tonight. (10) WILLYS HOME RUN took a nice step forward in step two off the bench. She could be even tighter tonight and class over this field. (9) PHOENIX is likely to take back and work from off the pace, but he has the ability to circle horses and work out a good finish. (4) MASSTERCRAFT is inching towards six figures the hard way. He puts forth a good effort seemingly every week and should be in contention turning for home if on the outside. Race 5: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 4B. 2 YEAR OLD PACING FILLIES. STARTING FEE $400 CDN ($315 USD). (5) HORSE WITH A PLAN was heavily bet in her latest and got the job done on the front end. I’ll give her the nod to repeat. (4) CHICANERY moved to Kentucky after two sharp wins at this level. She held her own south of the border and was marred by bad posts in her last two starts. Roy gives her the nod. (8) MCBUBBLES has been plagued by breaks as of late. She is likely to get a conservative steer in the early going, but fire home late and pass a few rivals. (2) P N G SHADOW is racing well against similar types right now. She could work out another mid-pack trip and get a piece. Race 6: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 4. 2 YEAR OLD TROTTING FILLIES. STARTING FEE $400 CDN ($315 USD). (3) CUPID HALL got picked off in the late stages after a speed try from post ten where she was pressured to the quarter. I don’t anticipate her having too much trouble with this group, especially with the post relief. (6) ELBOWS UP came up short in two straight Grassroots tries, then made a break at the start of her latest as the big favorite. She is hard to trust, but will be an overlay if you like her. (2) BLUE RARE is a step below the top two in my opinion, but I can still see J-Mac working out a close trip and her hitting the board. (1) LILY REIN keeps Chris Christoforou in the bike who piloted her to a third place finish two starts ago. If she minds her manners, she can get a piece. Race 7: NW $12,000 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $29,750 LAST 8 STARTS. AE: NW 8 RACES LIFETIME. (1) SID THE KID gets a decent drop in class from the top level company that he had been facing and holding his own against. Last time he dropped to a level similar to this, he was a winner as the favorite. Look for him to trip out. (5) EMOJI HANOVER made it two wins in a row with another off the pace score. She is getting back to sharp form and deserves respect. (4) QUEBEC HANOVER draws perfectly to get another aggressive steer if Billy Davis wants to employ that tactic. He is another who races well when dropping from the top level. (6) PENNTELLER HANOVER got a nice tightener under his belt in his first start off the bench, but how much can he step up right away? I think he can get a share tonight. Race 8: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 4B. 2 YEAR OLD PACING FILLIES. STARTING FEE $400 CDN ($315 USD). (7) NO BETTER AIR is here on the proof, and would be coming back in just three days if her line to be announced goes off. Realistically, I’m not expecting her to race in both, but if she shows up here, she makes a lot of sense. (5) J M OOH LALA went from 20/1 to odds on and did not disappoint. She may need to get a little bit faster, but an aggressive steer could put her in a spot to do well regardless. (4) LAVENDER SEELSTER comes off a sharp win after a strong, grinding effort. I could see her sitting just off the leaders and trying to pounce late. (3) ROMANTIC BEAUTY picked up two checks in Lexington and now returns for another Grassroots try. I think McNair can get aggressive and get her to finish with a share. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 9: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 4. 2 YEAR OLD TROTTING FILLIES. STARTING FEE $400 CDN ($315 USD). (2) BLUE JEAN GAL has been excellent as of late and comes off an easy win at this level last time out. I’ll give her the nod to continue the streak. (3) CALGARY MORNING drops from the Gold level and could wind up with a good trip if J-Mac gets aggressive off the car. She could be live if she finds a helmet. (6) RARE LEGACY has posted two good efforts at the Grassroots level and makes her debut at Mohawk. I’ll look for a rebound effort tonight. (7) MAKINA RUN FOR IT held off rivals after blasting from the rail and getting to the lead. If she blasts again and faces pressure, it might be just too much for her in the late stages. Race 10: WINNERS OF 3 (FM 4) BUT NOT MORE THAN 5 (FM 6) OR $100,000 LIFETIME. (7) LANDING ON TIME was sharp when racing at Mohawk before trying some top level stakes. If the intent is there, I think he can return and rebound sharply. (1) MYFRIENDJOSE got picked off in the late stages by Emoji Hanover. When he is fired up on the lead, he tends to race extremely well. (2) WILDTURKEY HANOVER has gotten in his own way as of late, but is a horse that I contend can race against these with some success when he puts it all together. He should add value tonight. (3) MAJOR BANK has won three of his last five starts and deserves a shot against this tougher class. I’ll use him underneath tonight. Race 11: NW $6,000 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $12,000 LAST 8 STARTS (W/O $19,500 LAST 8 STARTS N/E) AE: NW $800 LAST 3 STARTS. (4) ROBERTSON DE gets another drop in class after trying to make two moves against some sharp rivals. He has the speed to easily break through tonight. (6) STEAMER was a fine fifth when coming out of that same race. I could see him lighting up the exotics with an overland trip. He has decent staying power when on the outside. (7) MUSCLE FASHION is slowly but surely getting his legs underneath him as he returns to consistent action. I could see him punching through to pick off horses. (9) WILLOWTIME was very sharp at times during the early summer, but has been getting in his own way as of late. Louis Roy gets back in the bike and will look to pilot him back into form. (1) SERENITY CRUISE was a solid second last week and gets J-Mac for the second straight start. I’ll use him to round out tonight’s Hi-5.
