Race 1: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES GRASSROOTS 3YO COLTS AND GELDINGS **GTD $100,000 Pick 5**
(6) BEACH DEMON shows a 1:51-flat win last time he raced in a Grassroots race a few starts back and that is the fastest mark in this field by a full second. Best of all, you may get a square price because that was his last win; top call. (7) BETTER TAKE IT returns from a brief break and he looks ready to roll. He should be a factor here. (4) POSEIDON SEELSTER is in peak form and he is 1 for 1 with McClure driving. He's a Pick 5 must-use for me. (1) DAY DELIGHT is worth a look drawing inside and picking up Gingras.
Race 2: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES GRASSROOTS 3YO COLTS AND GELDINGS
(7) BETTORBUCKLEUP made a nice late move in a blazing-fast mile last week but the winner was uncatchable. I expect he will get put into this race earlier than he has been as he simply looks best in here. (5) RHETT SEELSTER’s form is improving as we head closer to the Grassroots Final and he can be an Exacta factor here. (2) SOLID MAN has shown some toughness racing first up in a couple of races recently; using underneath. (1) LOUS DELIGHT will likely sit a nice trip in this spot and emerge late to take a slice.
Race 3: NW $8,000 L5 or $17,000 L10 AE: OPT CLM $20,000
(9) TREASURED TEE drops and gets McNair back here. He should be blasting, and he could lead this group all the way. (7) MISTER MAGIC is an all-or-nothing proposition because if he stays flat, he usually wins, but he could blow up at any time. There is no overlooking his 17 wins in his past 57 starts though, and he is hard to toss. (6) BUZZ was a winner last time he raced this low and he should be put into play early; using. (8) VEYRON was out the route last week. He has upset potential here.
Race 4: NW3 (F&M 5) or $40,000 (F&M $57,000) LT - Pick 4
(5) NEVER MIND N was an easy winner here last week despite having missed more than a month. He's hard to go past here returning in seven days. (2) KUIL DEVA should get away better moving inside here and she is worth a look for the Exacta at a price. (1) ARCHIE HILL drops, and he should improve in this spot; using underneath. (3) MISSYS MAGIC MAN gets the acid test here with a 7 for 7 record this year. I prefer to use him underneath.
Race 5: NW $3,000 L5 or $7,000 L10
(6) SPORTS AUTHORITY made two moves in a fast race for this class last week and he wasn't far back at the wire. He beats these if he can work out a slightly better trip. (9) DREAMFAIR B J gets no favors from the draw, but if he can get decent position early, he should be right there. (3) ROCK THIS WAY and (4) HIS BOY ELROY both typically use deep closing styles and one of them could roll by late if the race falls apart in the final 1/4.
Race 6: 2YO NW $7,500 LT - Pick 5
Tough race here; I'll try (7) ROSIES WAR BONDS who may head right to the front starting with her nose on the gate again. (1) WARRAWEE WINDSOR shows a 28-flat kicker in his debut in a Grassroots race and that puts him square in the picture here, but the rail post is tricky for young trotters, so I'd demand a price. (4) EIGHTEEN WHEELIN also finished okay in Grassroots company and that could translate to a high placing vs. maidens here. (9) JULA MAGICIAN stayed flat and raced okay last time. She is another that is in with a chance here.
Race 7: NW $5,000 L5 or $11,000 L10
(5) ICY BLUE SCOOTER put in a solid effort in this class two starts back and he should be a big threat to lead these all the way. Class dropping (6) REGAL SON is sure to get put into the race early by Gingras and the two choices may be fighting it out in deep stretch. (2) HIDDEN DELIGHT has raced only once in 2019-20, but he has more than enough class for these if he is ready to roll; using. (10) KWIK TALKIN should be passing a few of these late again to take a slice.
Race 8: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES GRASSROOTS 3YO COLTS AND GELDINGS - Pick 4
(6) THE WILD CARD should be mighty tough on the engine here racing in a spot where he looks dominant. (4) MACK is likely to grab the pocket right away and he can ride that to an Exacta finish. (7) CAPTIVATE HANOVER will be passing horses late but only to grab a small share likely. (3) WIND BLOWN is capable of landing in the Super if he works out a decent trip.
Race 9: NW6 (F&M 7) or $70,000 (F&M $87,500)
(3) PEMBERTON should get back on track here after having a rough ride in a record mile at Grand River, but he won’\'t offer much of a price. (2) DELILAH SEELSTER has been racing well for several weeks and she is the most likely beneficiary here if the choice falters. (7) WINGS OF SPEED was closing late in a tough race and he should be along for another share here. (4) H P BRUXELLES is likely to take a following trip and hang around for a minor share.
Race 10: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES GRASSROOTS 3YO COLTS AND GELDINGS
(4) SUNDOWN KID races well every week and he appears to be the dominant early speed in this field; top call. (5) DELIGHTFUL TERROR took a lifetime mark of 1:49 3/5 in a Grassroots race here in late July and he figures to be the choice's main rival in this spot. (6) SUNSHINE LIST has a good closing kick, but he might be coming too late here; using underneath. (2) SHELTON SEELSTER is worth a look for the Super on the barn change.
Race 11: NW $3,000 L5 or $7,000 L10
(1) AMERICAN HUSTLE is in his best spot in a while in terms of class and post position and I'll give him the nod hoping for a square price in this spot. (7) LYONS PEGASUS raced tough in this class last week but was nailed by two rivals late in a fast mile. He is in with a chance as is (3) THOR DE VIE who could go from worst to first here on the double class drop. (9) TIGERS WAY should be able to make it into this High-5 despite drawing widest. (2) GOOD EYE HAWKEYE can ride a similar following trip as he did last time and sneak into the High-5.
