Woodbine Mohawk Park: Analysis for Monday 8/31/26

Top Pick Stats: 471/1499 (-$790.90)

Best Bets: 57/135 (-$51.30)

Spot Plays: 30/138 (-$95.00)

Best Bet: STORMONT SHANLYBOY (Race 1)

Spot Play: TIDAL SEELSTER (Race 7)

Early Pick-5: 4,7/1,7/2,8/1,6/5,10 $6.40

Late Pick-5: 2,5,6/1/5/1,5,7/9,10 $3.60

Race 1: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 3 (OS 5) RACES OR $50,000 (OS $62,500) LIFETIME.

(7) STORMONT SHANLYBOY made a strong move to take the lead in his latest against Gold company, but faded back to fourth. His win two back was sharp; I expect another good outing. (4) L P BAY has been charging from off the pace with mixed results. This is a different bunch, though. Could easily get a cover trip. (6) MASSBAR draws perfectly and has been sharp, but I didn’t love that she made a miscue in her latest at Lexington. I’ll try to beat her.

Race 2: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 2 (FM 3) RACES OR $20,000 (OS $25,000) LIFETIME. AE: N/A $755 P/S IN 2026.

(7) LO AND BEHOLD was a sharp second two starts ago at this level. Roy gives her the nod and will likely try to go down the road. (1) GREEN NINETEEN has mainly been picking up checks but he gets away from some sharp rivals and could get back to his board-hitting ways. (8) WALNERS GROVE likely needs to leave out for position but that leaves her to make a second move or chasing late. Both are not ideal.

Race 3: 2 YEAR OLD FILLIES: NW 1 RACE OR $12,500 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES.

(2) GLAM ROCK should take plenty of support when getting away from top Grassroots rivals. She was third over and wasn’t going anywhere because the leaders were pacing sub-:55 back halves. (8) BULLDOG BELLE is getting better and continues to sustain her outside moves, but has yet to break through. That could happen tonight. (6) LETS GO FISHIN has been a closing type thus far and has displayed a decent turn of foot. She picks up an aggressive catch driver, however, and could throw a wrench into things.

Race 4: 4 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $10,500 OR LESS 2 RACES) RACE OR $10,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES. AE: NW $100 LAST 4 STS.

(1) STORMONT FAST BOY gets a major post switch after having to chase heavily favored Alpha Blue Chip. Even if McClure had pulled first over, third was probably his ceiling in that race. I’ll give him the nod here. (6) MIGHTY MORGAN sustained her first over move nicely and was able to edge out a couple rivals for second. I think she is first to the lead this week. (2) DOUNEEDTHEMACHINE really had no excuse in her latest. She got to the front and the fractions were fine, but she gave it up late. Hard to trust her now.

Race 5: NW $2,500 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW 2 RACES LAST 8 STARTS. AE: N/A $1,770 P/S IN 2026.

(10) P C PETERBILT picks up James Macdonald for the first time and could work out a nice cover trip if spotted accordingly. I’ll swing for a price. (5) KADIDDLE is obvious given the draw and how she performed in her latest. A logical contender once again. (3) FRENCHY HANOVER doesn’t win often but usually grinds out a check. I’ll look for her to do one better and hit the board tonight.

Race 6: NW $1,400 LAST 4 STARTS. AE: NW 1 RACE OR $13,500 IN 2026. AE: OPT. CLM. $12,500.

(2) MASSEDONIA comes into this race with increasingly better efforts and has versatility which should allow him to get into the race in a variety of ways. (6) FLANAGAN SUNSHINE has gotten around this track just fine in the past. He has stayed flat in the two starts since the qualifier, which is a start, and this is not a deep field. (5) WALKONTHEMOON is the class of this field and recently strung together three wins in a row. He’s second back now after being off a month and wouldn’t surprise me.

Race 7: 2 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS: NW 1 RACE OR $10,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES.

(1) TIDAL SEELSTER took a death shuffle in his latest and still had plenty of pace after having to swing widest of all. He is sitting on a win, but can’t rely on the race to come to him. (3) POWRSTROKE PIONEER wasn’t moving the best in the stretch but still closed nicely to finish second in just his second career start. The potential is there. (2) NOTRE DAME gets a major post switch after tiring in his latest. Those opening fractions were too much, and nobody was beating Global Choice that night. He deserves another look.

Race 8: HORSES & GELDINGS CLAIMING $8,000. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE.

(5) GLORYVIEW IMAGE appeared beat in mid-stretch but dug in gamely and stuck his neck out between horses to get the job done. It was an impressive effort in a race that was full of action. I think he repeats. (4) DRAGONS BETTER likely benefits from a less chaotic race. He set a quick opening quarter before being pressured by a couple of rivals and having to release. A tracking trip from up close is likely much better. (3) ROYAL JK got a check in that same race. I don’t love him as a grinder, but if he can follow a helmet and pounce late, he should do okay.

Race 9: 4 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 RACE (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $10,500 OR LESS 2 RACES) OR $10,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES. AE: 3 YO N/A $1,415 IN 2026.

(1) SOLAR VOLTAGE raced well to finish second behind a tripped-out Vela Luka. I think he steps forward in his second start back after a month off. (5) BETTORS MYSTERY looked like he did his best pacing in the final 20 strides last week. It was a bit odd, because it looked like everyone was waiting on the horse in front of them to do something. He settled for a dead heat third last week. I think he gets a good trip this week. (7) LUNAR SPORT was much better in his latest and makes his third start on Lasix now. Short field should help his chances if he wants to rally from off the pace.

Race 10: POP UP SERIES FINAL: STARTERS FOR A PURSE OF $11,000 OR LESS LAST 3 STARTS (W/O $40,000 IN 2026 N/E). AE:N/A $1,500 P/S IN 2026 (MIN 10 STARTS).

(10) DAHLQUIST HANOVER absolutely romped in his latest and looks to do the same despite navigating from the high draw. I’ll give him the nod. (9) OH BOY held off rivals despite setting a quick first half. He has really blossomed in his three starts in Canada. (2) EMMA TOWN BUD was best of the rest behind Dahlquist Hanover and will likely have to use different tactics given the early speed to his outside. I’ll use him underneath.
