Garnet Barnsdale|Aug 20, 2021
Mohawk Logo 1.5

Meet Stats: 166 – 488 / $927.60 (-$48.40)

Best Bets: 23 – 45 / $90.20 (+$0.20)

Spot Plays: 17 – 45 / $122.00 (+$32.00)

Best Bet: SPARTAN GENERAL (1ST)

Spot Play: MISTER OF ALL (8TH)

Early Pick 5: 2/4,7,8/1,2,5/1,2,3/6,8,9 = $16.20

Late Pick 5: 2,3/3,9/3,5,7/1,4,6/1,3 = $14.40

Early Pick 4: 1,2,3/6,8,9/2,3/3,9 = $36

Late Pick 4: 3,9/3,5,7/1,4,6/1,3 = $36

Race 1: NW3 or $40,000 L10 **Guaranteed $100,000 Pick 5**

(2) SPARTAN GENERAL is in tremendous form right now and he will be very tough to beat facing similar to those that he beat here last week. (1) TUCKERS OUT qualified well for this initial race since the Covid break and he could provide some Exacta value here. (7) MACALLAN and (6) WARRAWEE WHISPER finished third and fourth behind the choice last week and they are likely in for more of the same tonight.

Race 2: Ont. Sired 2YO NW $11,500 LT

(4) ICEY SHADOW broke a Clinton Raceway track record on debut with trainer Moore in the bike now he gets a catch driver and top call here. (8) LYONS PRIDE has been facing the toughest company and he should be a big threat here. (7) TITANIUM ALPHA flashed late interest in his local debut when he drew the worst post and he is a logical contender here starting from a better post. (3) HP MOMENTUM should be closer here coming out of a Grassroots race; using underneath.

[DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Mohawk Park card at DRF Bets.com!]

Race 3: NW $22,500 L5 or $28,500 L10 or NW $120,000 LT AE: OPT CLM $50,000

The short field here plays into the hand of (5) WARAWEE ROO who should be in perfect striking range at the 3/4 pole; call to repeat. (1) GRANDMA HEIDI figures to get another great trip racing near the front and she is on my Pick 5 ticket. (2) MEMO will likely set the pace again and if he gets a breather, he might last this time. (6) COOL MUSCLE powered home to beat easier but in this field, he will likely finish on the edges.

Race 4: F&M NW5 or $60,000 - Pick 4

(2) P L OPPORTUNITY has caught fire in her past two starts and I'll stick with her while she is hot. (1) TESLA SEELSTER has been a win machine this year and comes into this race taking five of her last six wins. She should contend vs. these. (3) FOX VALLEY LIZA seems to be coming around and she could surprise here with the right trip; using. (5) PRINCESSPARTYPANTS comes to play every week. She should be part of the Tri or Super in this spot.

Race 5: F&M CLAIMING HANDICAP $12,000 to $18,000

(6) MISS ROCKADALI raced tough in defeat when beaten by a tough mare who is not in this field so she gets top call here. (9) MCDELICACY, stablemate of the choice, also raced well in defeat and she should contend despite drawing wide. (8) HALLSGLENSMAVIS is a threat every week racing on or near the front; using. (7) TURNING THE TABLE has been on fire at the 'B' tracks but this is much tougher and I'll use her on the bottom.

Race 6: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES GOLD 3YO COLTS and GELDINGS - Pick 5

(3) FASHION FRENZIE raced great in defeat when he had to navigate a second tier post and a big field, I'll side with him tonight from a better post racing in a smaller field. (2) LOGAN PARK hasn't been beaten in a Gold race yet and he is the one to take down here. (1) PUBLICITY SEEKER projects to get a better trip here but I prefer to use him underneath. (6) LEXUS KODY trotted a game first-over mile last time and he could better this placing if he gets a good trip.

Race 7: Ontario Sired 2YO NW $11,500 LT - Pick 4

(9) CENTURY IGLESIAS looked like a winner in deep stretch then a rival roared past as if he was shot out of a cannon. That was an excellent effort after starting from the second tier and he should be the boss in here. (3) ST LADS STERLING disappointed as chalk last week but he was probably overbet in there and he did drop close to two seconds. He should be a threat here. (1) BETTOR SOUL is worth a look drawing better for this second start; using underneath. (2) RON flashed speed then went from first to last in the final 3/4. A more conservative approach gets him a share here.

Race 8: NW $12,000 L5 or $26,000 L10 AE: OPT CLM $35,000

(7) MISTER OF ALL had no clearance until deep stretch last week and he finished full of trot. I'll give him the edge here. (3) O NARUTAC PERFETTO was nipped by a rival that he provided perfect cover for last time he raced this low and he should be right there vs. these. (5) HP BRUXELLES is another who has been facing tougher that should be heard from in this spot; using. (6) DERF HANOVER should show speed and stick around for a share again.

Race 9: NW $8,500 L5 or $20,500 L10 AE: OPT CLM $25,000

(1) TIMESTORM was no match for the winner who was uncorking a very fast mile for the class last week, but he did shave a full second off his previous race and he should be tough in this short field. (4) ZIG ZAG was an easy winner last time he raced this low and he should be a big threat, likely racing on the front here. (6) IM THE MUSCLE was right there at this level two starts back and he is the third one that I'll use on multi-race tickets here. (2) VICTOR INVICTUS steps back up off a win vs. easier and he figures to finish on the edges vs. these.

Race 10: NW6 (F&M7) or $70,000 (F&M $87,500) LT AE: 4YO

(3) FRIDO PV was right there behind a logical winner last week now he gets Filion which should make him the chalk here, but he has a big shot vs. these. (1) RITSON finished just behind the choice and he should be a major player tonight; using. (5) HEAVENSDOR HANOVER has a win-lose-win-lose pattern going and this is supposed to be a win week but he finished behind the top two choices last week and I'll use him underneath tonight. Kiwi shipper (2) RYDGEMONT SON N is worth a look going for Auciello in his local debut. The tote board might provide some clues here. (6) OKEANOS should take a share here coming off a failed first-over effort.
