Race 1: CLM HDCP $15,000 to $20,000 **GTD $75,000 Pick 5**
(6) BUDDHA BLUE CHIP won and was claimed again, and he goes for a trainer that has clicked at a rate of 40% (2/5) first start off the claim so far in 2020. He likely wins at odds-on and gets claimed again tonight. (3) INDIGO ART comes up tagged here and this is a spot where he should wake up and at least contend for a share. (2) SIZE ME UP made a couple of moves last time and he can be closer here with a better trip; using underneath. (9) OAKROCK ELDORADO rarely missed the board and even starting widest he should be in the mix for a slice, using his sharp gate speed to get position early.
Race 2: NW5 (F&M7) or $70,000 (F&M $87,500)
(2) HAYEK was really roughed up on the first turn last week, but he stayed parked out and managed to find live cover and took the win. He should get a much better trip here; call to repeat. (5) LOVEDBYTHEMASSES was third to a colt who contested the Hambletonian final on the weekend and he is capable on his best day; using. (7) VILLEFRANCHE AS was probably just short last week after missing time. She should be better here and offer a much juicier price. (4) HP BRUXELLES is always in the mix and she should be in the Tri or Super again.
Race 3: ONTARIO SIRED 3 YEAR OLD FILLIES, GRASSROOTS 3 STARTERS IN 2020.
(1) PIER HO KADO figured it all out at Rideau Carlton and I'll give her the slight nod to repeat here. (9) MOANA was hammered at the windows here last week and she delivered in a big way; using. (6) CHELSEAS MAGIC put in a good effort in Ottawa only to be picked off late. She's another in with a shot here in a wide-open race. (10) TH PRESENT is another who can be a factor here if she stays flat and can work out a trip after starting from the second tier. It makes sense to price shop here.
Race 4: F&M CLM HDCP $10,000 to $15,000 - Pick 4
(6) HIGHMOON SUNSHINE found her best class level when she dropped into these claimers four starts back and she gets McClure here racing off the fresh Rob Fellows claim; top call. (5) KIWI FOCUS N was entered Friday night in the bottom conditioned level and if she goes here on the quick return and class drop, I have to believe she will be a factor. (7) LYDIA LULA BELLE was second to the choice when claimed now she goes as her stablemate; using. (1) MONEYMAKEHERSMILE is worth a look for the exotics off the Auciello claim.
Race 5: DREAM MAKER FINAL – 2 YEAR OLDS
This race looks like it can set up for a colt that lays in the weeds and pounces late and I'll look for a price with (4) ISLAND BEACH BOY. (8) DEAN B HANOVER has impressed so far and if he gets a reasonable trip, he should be the one to beat. (2) CAPTAINOFROCKNROLL dug in to win last week and he certainly isn't out of this. (5) TWIN B EDGE can be green, but if he puts it all together here, he is another who could win this with the right trip.
Race 6: NW $8,000 L5 or $19,000 L10 AE: OPT CLM $20,000 - Pick 5
(6) KAMERAN HANOVER is racing okay for McNair and this is a spot where he might slide by some tiring leaders in deep stretch. (2) BIG RICH dropped and stopped last week, now he drops again. Would you take odds-on one more time? (5) BUZZ is always a threat at this level, and he may get a pocket ride this week; using. (3) NOTHING BUT MUSCLE comes off a good try and he can take another share here.
Race 7: CLM HDCP $25,000 to $30,000
(3) LONE WOLF TERROR has been driven more aggressively the past two starts and that puts him in better position to win races. This is a good spot for him to double up. (6) CHEAPSKATE HANOVER was taken by Fellows when it looks like he is sitting on a big effort and he should be the main danger. (7) JULERICA was out of sorts last week when claimed by Puddy, but he was tremendous winning his previous two. Based on history, I'm not sure he recaptures that form here and I would demand a price. (8) LEGAL BETTOR should be coming on late for another share vs. these.
Race 8: NW $12,000 L5 or $27,500 L10 AE: 4YO NW of a Race in 2020 - Pick 4
In a race where there doesn't appear to be many leavers, maybe hot teamster Jamieson (5 wins Thursday night) sends (8) O NARUTAC PERFETTO on a speed mission; slight nod. (4) DANCER HALL was nailed very late last week. I think he will be closer early here which gives him a good shot. (2) ONLY TAKE CASH is getting closer and she got written into this race as a four-year-old that has yet to win this year. I prefer to use her underneath, however. (1) CRUISING IN STYLE made two moves in a good effort last week and he figures to take another share here.
Race 9: NW $5,000 L5 or $10,000 L10
(8) REAL SURREAL drops to a level where he has to get sent for better position early and he is capable of handling these; top call. (4) ROCK THIS WAY also rates highly in this class, but he is typically trip and pace dependent and I wouldn't take a short price here. (6) OSBORNE SEELSTER was used up early last time. The pace shouldn't be that strong in the opening 1/2 here and that gives him a chance. (9) ROYAL RENEGADE gets Cullen back and he should be passing a few of these late.
Race 10: NW $28,000 L5 or $160,000 LT AE: OPT CLM $75,000
(7) ON THE ROPES always does well when he drops out of the Preferred class and he gets top call here despite starting widest. (4) MEMO is the other class dropper in the race, and he should be the main threat to the choice. (3) FREE WILLY HANOVER is impossible to leave out of the Tri at this point, isn't he? (1) REFI is another good one to use on the bottom of the Tri and Super in this spot. He should be passing horses in the back 1/2.
Race 11 – NW $3,000 L5 or $7,000 L10
(4) REGAL SON, the only horse in this field who has recorded more than one win so far in 2020, gets just what the doctor ordered here, a drop to the lowest conditioned level, and he should handle these. (2) MACH CODE is in a much better spot here starting with his nose on the gate from an inside post and he should be the main danger. (7) ALBERGO HANOVER has upset potential at this level; consider for late Pick 4 tickets. (3) P L IDAHO popped and stopped when moved into this class last week and at this point I have to continue to bet against him to win until he shows he can put it all together once. (1) DREAMY FELLA is usually good for a share at this bottom level.
