Top Pick Stats: 30/113 (-$99.70) Best Bets: 5/10 ($0.50); Spot Plays: 2/10 (-$9.60) Best Bet: ORDER ONE TO GO (Race 3) Spot Play: WANNABEABIGSTAR (Race 10) Early Pick 5: 2,7,8/5/6/5,8/1   $1.20 Late Pick 5: 2,4/3,7/5,6/3/2   $1.60 Race 1: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 1. 2 YEAR OLD PACING FILLIES. STARTING FEE $400 CDN ($315 USD). (8) GEMINI HANOVER has two strong qualifiers at Charlottetown and ships in for a reason. Louis Roy gets the call and could be aggressive in the early stages. (2) BARBUDA made a move from third to win her second qualifier. She can sit close and grab a good chunk of this purse. (7) NAUGHTY DELIGHT has the break on June 20 looming, but she appears to have some speed. Anything that Macdonald and Beaton team up for has to be respected. (5) SPORTY EVIE has the makings of an early speed type that will get caught by the better ones. She needs a bit more speed. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: 3 YEAR OLD FILLIES: GRASSROOTS OR PROSPECT STARTERS. (5) FOXY AMEE couldn’t sustain her first over bid against Gold rivals. She retains McNair and should look to wire this field on the drop in class. (7) LIL SWEET can get herself into trouble in numerous ways with her grinding style, but the result in her latest speaks for itself. (1) OCEANVIEW RUMOURS was bet like she couldn’t lose in what was, admittedly, a weak Grassroots race. She needs more to challenge the top two. (3) YS QUEEN BETH was sharp in May before breaking issues plagued her. Keep an eye on her down the road. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Mohawk Park card at 1/ST BET PRO!] Race 3: CLAIMING $50,000. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE & SEX. (6) ORDER ONE TO GO is another who gets into trouble sometimes with his style, but he gives you plenty of reasons to like him. He is always a contender at this level. (1) HEAD HONCHO is the next most logical option who got the jump on my top pick in his latest. McClure sticks and will be looking for a similar trip. (5) KYLES ART has held his own in two starts at this level and nearly pulled off a big upset in his latest. He’ll add value to the exotics if he races well again. (8) P L OZZY has probably been the trickiest pacer to handicap this season. He set wicked fractions before tiring, and now gets an outside draw. Race 4: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 1. 2 YEAR OLD PACING FILLIES. STARTING FEE $400 CDN ($315 USD). (5) ROMANTIC BEAUTY is well prepped for her debut and should demand a lot of attention at the windows. She should be firing off the car. (8) COULD BE QUEEN made up solid ground in the stretch and should no doubt improve on debut for top class connections. (4) NO BETTER AIR raced well on debut but was outsprinted. That doesn’t bode well for her if the trip sets up similarly. (2) BET ON JANE draws inside which can set things up better for horses with gate speed. She can sit mid pack and get a piece. Race 5: NW $3,000 LAST 5 STARTS. AE: NOT AVERAGING $1,250 PER START IN 2025 (MIN 7 STARTS). (1) BELLA CAVALLA gets a big drop in class but will need to prove it. This is a group she should get the best of. (8) COLD SNAPS has been taking steps forward since the qualifier, and could easily win if she gets a good early position off the car. (6) GOOBER SMACK made a solid recovery after a break in his latest. An aggressive steer could get him in position to spice up exotics. (4) VICTOR INVICTUS loves to save ground and can punch through late to get a piece. Race 6: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 1. 2 YEAR OLD PACING FILLIES. STARTING FEE $400 CDN ($315 USD). (4) ON FLEEK impressed me with her qualifier win and steps right into stakes competition. James Macdonald gave her the nod, so I will as well. (2) MCBUBBLES has a start under her belt which could bode well for her. She made a strong charge but had to settle for second. (5) JALAPENO CHEDDAR needs to show more speed, but she continues to improve and could close for a piece. (3) RIDIN THE RODEO should sit close again and try not to be outsprinted when it matters. TheStable has a solid group of freshmen so far. Race 7: CLAIMING HANDICAP $30,000 TO $40,000. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE & SEX. ENTER IN MULTIPLES OF $1,000. (3) STASH IT AWAY will offer a square number as an alternative to the favorite. He was angled outside a little later than anticipated but raced well again. I’ll lean his direction. (7) DIRTY LIL PIGLET has found career best form as of late, pacing two sub-1:50 miles in his last three efforts. If he fires like that again, he will be tough to catch. (5) HOWMAC VICTOR is the wild card. He had no chance in his last two efforts, but has shown early speed recently. I can’t imagine he closes from last again. (4) MAJOR FERNCO N is tailing off a little bit but can take enough air to grind out a solid finish. Race 8: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 1. 2 YEAR OLD PACING FILLIES. STARTING FEE $400 CDN ($315 USD). (5) CHICANERY made a big first over move when the pace got slow and was still moving well in the late stages. She can build off that effort and be a main contender. (6) REGIL WHITESOCKS looked strong in her latest qualifier, which I assume was just to keep her sharp for tonight. She can be forward from the winningest post. (2) TALBOT KRISTEN shaved nearly four seconds in her second qualifier and looked strong when pacing on the end of her mile. Improvement is expected. (1) FIVE STARR RATING was just fine in her debut. A better trip can see her grab a share. Race 9: PREFERRED. Last week was the time to play against (3) LOGAN PARK who was racing for the first time since the Elitloppet, but he still got the job done. If they couldn’t beat him then, I don’t see them beating him now. (5) GHOSTLY CASPER finally draws to the outside of rivals and could end up sitting a pocket trip to the big favorite. He can spice up the exotics. (2) GAINES HANOVER could only settle for second last week. He hasn’t missed the board yet this year. (4) FASHION FRENZIE is capable of more when at his absolute best. I may be undervaluing him here. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 10: NW $6,100 LAST 5 STARTS. AE: NW $35,000 IN 2025. (2) WANNABEABIGSTAR has the speed but needs to be put into the race. It was a successful tactic back in early June, but since then he has been way too far back. He can produce a much better effort tonight. (4) LEGION SEELSTER is a horse that I would love to own. He tries every single week and gets as much as he can no matter what the trip is. It feels like he will break through at some point. (1) WHEELS ON FIRE gets a big drop and is capable of putting up a big effort, but doesn’t do it consistently enough for my liking. Needs to show speed from the rail. (7) BOOMING ECONOMY took tons of support and raced exceptionally well. I’m not sure if he can repeat an effort like that. Race 11: NW $3,800 LAST 5 STARTS (W/O $16,500 LAST 10 STARTS N/E). AE: NOT AVERAGING $1,200 PER START IN 2024-25 (MIN 10 STARTS). (8) FOREFATHER had no business making it as close as he did after Booming Economy won with those wicked fractions. His style makes him susceptible, but he is extremely sharp right now, and I can’t ignore that. (6) THE GREEK FREAK is yet to hit the board since coming back but a speed try is looming again. He has to improve on the drop in class. (7) NAUTICAL HANOVER is another taking a drop in class that should do him some good. He has some strong back lines. (2) ENFORCER has improved drastically as of late with two aggressive steers. He can hang on for a piece. (5) BEYOND BETTER will need more speed to contend but can close to round out the Hi-5.
