Race 1: 4 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 RACE (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $9,000 OR LESS 2 RACES) OR $9,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES.
(9) VELA LUKA was a colt that many were looking forward to seeing, but he scratched sick. He since qualified well behind M1 Pace contender Sweet Lovin Lou. (6) ELLINGTON stormed home with an even bigger kick last time out. He is progressing towards breaking his maiden. (2) D A BODACIOUS was a good second behind a Cullen trainee last week and can usually grind his way into contention.

Race 2: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 1. 2 YEAR OLD PACING FILLIES. STARTING FEE $400 CDN ($315 USD).
(3) CANADIAN BLONDES was visually sharp in her second prep and looks ready to roll for top connections. (8) PA LILA has a start under her belt where she showed good speed on both ends. Expect her to be forwardly placed again. (9) RHYMES WITH REGINA is progressing nicely but has to deal with the outside post. I’m not sure how big of a hurry she will be in.
Race 3: FILLIES & MARES NW 2 RACES OR $30,000 (OS $40,750) LIFETIME. AE: N/A $1,770 P/S IN 2026.
(4) INTEL QUEEN was an upset winner three back when last racing against overnight company. I can see her getting a similar trip tonight and pulling off another slight upset. (2) HEY GENIE is second back after being heavily backed in her return. If she improves this week, she should be tough here. (1) CUPID HALL drops from top level stakes and is logical, but I question what trip she gets from the rail.
Race 4: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 1. 2 YEAR OLD PACING FILLIES. STARTING FEE $400 CDN ($315 USD).
(7) MY BETS ON BOB held her own after losing cover and being part of a :55 and change back half. She comes out of a salty race and should use that to her advantage tonight. (1) MANDY MILKOVICH took solid support in another race with a big back half. She wasn’t going to make up the necessary ground from where she was. Curious how she does tonight. (2) SILK LACE eventually got by PA Lila and got the job done on debut. Another forward trip should give her a good chance.
Race 5: NW $12,000 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $30,750 LAST 8 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $70,000. AE: NW 8 RACES OR $100,000 LIFETIME. AE: NW $2,500 L3 OR NW $100 IN 2026.
(7) EUROBANK HANOVER isn’t considered a fringe Open trotter yet, but just went a mile that would put him in contention against that company. He gets that shot tonight. (2) SID THE KID usually does well when dropping from the Open. If he gets away decently, he should be right there. (1) PENNTELLER HANOVER is likely to be out of position again, but a live helmet could tow him into contention this week.
Race 6: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 1. 2 YEAR OLD PACING FILLIES. STARTING FEE $400 CDN ($315 USD).
(2) LYONS BULLDOG looks ready to roll for top connections after a sharp looking qualifier. That mile stands out here. (3) EFFECTIVE CONTROL is progressing well and should show more tonight if that continues. (5) HOT WASH has a race under her belt and a flashy final quarter, but may be left chasing and out of position.
Race 7: NW $6,000 L4 STARTS OR NW $12,000 L8 STARTS (W/O $15,000 L8 STARTS N/E) AE: OPT. CLM. $30,000. AE: N/A $1,980 P/S IN 2026. (MIN 10 STARTS). AE: NW $1,000 L3
(10) PRIVATE ACCESS got stuck inside last week and then stepped on a wheel. I think he puts it all together tonight. (1) THE BEAR A CUDA looked like he was grinding into contention before the slight chaos happened. He’s one I’m fine with going back to on tickets. (5) CHIP HAPPENED made a big move at Grand River but couldn’t sustain it. If he is forwardly placed this week, he can hold on for a piece.
Race 8: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GOLD LEG 1. 2 YEAR OLD TROTTING COLTS & GELDINGS. STARTING FEE $900 CDN ($700 USD).
(3) UNSTABLE GENIUS is a full brother to Stable Genius who is returning in the race before and who has made a quarter of a million dollars. After two winning qualifiers, he looks ready to go. (6) DETONATER HANOVER has likely caught some eyes in his two preps. He certainly caught mine - the way he moves is almost mesmerizing- but those same eyes saw him roll off stride for no reason before the wire. (1) GRNAD MANALISHI took care of business on debut and looks ready to make some noise in stakes.

Race 9: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 1. 2 YEAR OLD PACING FILLIES. STARTING FEE $400 CDN ($315 USD).
I don’t want to dismiss the sharp final quarter from (1) CATTLE BELLE, but it may cause her to take more money than necessary. She comes out of a race that I’ve referenced as potentially being salty, and I stand by that. I’ll give her the nod. (3) BULLY TINA has done her work well in the mornings and looks like a filly that should improve on debut. (2) DOWNTOWN BOOGIE is another filly who is progressing and will look to take advantage of a weaker stakes division.
Race 10: NW $9,000 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $18,000 LAST 8 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $50,000.
(8) FAITH STEP was a ridiculous overlay last week and stormed home to win. It’s hard to trust many here right now. Meanwhile, her form is as good as anyone’s. (3) OUTSIDE THE FIRE was grinding all the way to the wire and was a decent third. I’m not sure what his winning trip is right now, though. (4) MISTER MAGIC was probably winning anyway, but was certainly aided by the favorite making a miscue. His backers have certainly been rewarded.
