Race 1: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES GRASSROOTS 2YO COLTS AND GELDINGS **GTD $75,000 PICK 5**
(1) CANTSTOPFLYING finished off his latest qualifier well and he seems primed for a top effort in this debut. I'll give him the nod over (8) FLASH CUBE who is the only winner in the field and produced some sharp late speed in Ottawa. (10) SNAP CALL, a $57,000 Harrisburg purchase, is a full-brother to a gelding that won early and this colt is one to consider for early Pick 5 tickets. (9) NO BETTOR JOY will improve here if he stays flat and he should be a big price; using underneath.
Race 2: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES GRASSROOTS 2YO COLTS AND GELDINGS
(8) CANDY TRADER, a $72,000 Lexington Select Sale purchase, was 2nd in his lone qualifier to a sharp-looking colt. I'll give him the nod here. (6) UNCONTROLLABLE was bought for only $6,000 at the London Selected sale, but his dam has produced all winners and he looks ready to roll; using. (1) BEEF N CHEDDAR qualified well and his barn is starting to heat up now. He is another in with a shot here. (9) WATCH MY BEVERAGE showed sharp speed on the end of his most recent qualifier and if he can work out a trip from out there he is another who could take this contentious Grassroots dash.
Race 3: NW $5,300 L5 or $11,000 L10
There are a couple of wakeup candidates dropping in class here that are likely to fight it out for the win and (1) ELLIS PARK is the one that I'll lean to. Getting his nose on the gate and facing easier should be just what he needs to get untracked. (2) ISITFRIDAYYET also drops and moves off the worst post and he should be in the hunt here. (3) BETTER MOONON OVER was bet last week but he didn’t get the greatest trip. He has an outside shot in here. (4) MILITARY SECRET is another who gets out of the second tier here and he fits well enough to take a slice here.
Race 4: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES GRASSROOTS 2YO COLTS AND GELDINGS - Pick 4
(2) WEST COAST KID motored home well in his lone qualifier and he gets the nod on debut in a spot that doesn't appear to be very tough. (1) BETTOR ATTITUDE is a 1/2-brother to Perfect Storm who has already won since returning from the break and he is probably capable of more than you see from his lone qualifier; using. (3) FRANK DEFORD has yet to see a fast track but he looks well-prepped and he is another who is in with a shot here. (10) FIRST GLANCE has shown an ability to grind on the outside and pass horses during his training leading up to this debut; consider for the bottom of the exotics.
Race 5: Claiming Handicap $15,000 to $18,000
(1) OH K MAN was a bit unlucky last week when the pocket sitter squeezed between him and the leader and then edged him on the wire. He should find a helmet to follow here and he gets the nod over (3) CASIMIR RUMRUNNER, who was a winner Thursday night and is right back in for more. (7) KINGOFTHEJUNGLE will be looking for the pocket again early and if he can find it, he will be a threat to triple up. (8) LONE WOLF TERROR should be passing a few of these late as the pace is expected to be solid; using underneath.
Race 6: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES GRASSROOTS 2YO COLTS AND GELDINGS
(2) PROLINE looked good flying by the leaders to win his lone qualifier and I'll give him top billing here. (8) WARAWEE WAZZUP goes for a barn that has started to heat up and driver MacDonald is one of the best at sending one from the outside of the gate when the intent is there; using. (1) AVION SEELSTER was better in his second qualifier and he draws well here. He's another possibility. (5) LIL RED SPORTSSTAR is one of several Sportswriter colts in here in a race that is likely going to be decided by trip.
Race 7: NW5 (F&M7) or $70,000 (F&M $87,500) Pick 4
(3) H P BRUXELLES wasn't far back vs. tougher now she draws a post which she is likely to use to get better positioned early; top call. (7) HORSE TRADER took a bad shuffle in a Gold race at Georgian and he can beat these if he gets put into this race early. (5) VILLEFRANCHE AS is hard to toss coming off a lifetime-best score, but she may not get the same trip here. I won't take a short price. (10) BUCKEYE STARLET will be passing rivals again late and I'll use her on the bottom of Tris and Supers.
Race 8: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES GRASSROOTS 2YO COLTS AND GELDINGS
We get the unveiling of $1.7 million-earner L A Delight's full brother (1) LAST BET here and he looks ready to win at first asking. (9) MARLBORO SELSTER was the sale topper at the 2019 London Selected Sale, bringing $270,000, and while he hasn't turned heads in his qualifiers, he may be up to Grassroots foes at first asking; using. (5) SOCRATES BLUE CHIP beat Marlboro Seelster while winning his June 27th qualifier and he's not out of this. (3) STONEBRIDGE REX brings a solid qualifier to this debut race and he should be in the mix for the exotics.
Race 9: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES GRASSROOTS 2YO COLTS AND GELDINGS
(3) WHAT CAN YOU SAY made two moves in a good effort in his qualifier and he gets top call here. (2) LAWLESS SHADOW made up a lot of ground late on June 27th and he should be the main danger. (10) BLUE MONK was passed by a couple of rivals that were flying late in his June 20th qualifier and he should be a threat here. (9) FOOLING YOURSELF almost surely has more speed than he showed at Grand River; price look.
Race 10: NW $8,700 L5 or $16,500 L10
(3) CLIFFHANGER drops and he stands a good chance to pop against these. (5) TREMENDOUS PLAY was stacked up on excess cover and didn't have much zip in the lane last week but he too faces easier here and he should be heard from. (4) BIG BANG BOOM can chase strong fractions and hang around for shares. I see more of the same for him in this spot. (10) MAKE SOME LUCK did well to wear down a loose leader but these are tougher and I'll use him underneath. (1) BRODYS SCRAPPER should work his way into the High-5 starting from the inside.
