Garnet Barnsdale|Jul 24, 2020
Mohawk Logo 1.5

Meet Stats: 106-360 / $568.40 (-$149.60)
Best Bets: 16-32 / $54.90 (-$9.10)
Spot Plays: 9-33 / $61.90 (-$4.10)
Best Bet:
DEAN B HANOVER (2ND)
Spot Play: JULERICA (4TH)
Early Pick 5: 1,8/3/1,2,6/4,8/5,7,8 = $7.20
Late Pick 5: 3/4,5,6,7/2,5,8/5/1,2,3,10 = $9.60
Early Pick 4: 4,8/5,7,8/3/4,5,6,7 = $24
Late Pick 4: 2,5,8/5/1,2,3,10/6,8,10 = $36

Race 1: NW 7 or $70,000 (F&M $87,500) **GTD $75,000 Pick 5**

(8) NEVER MIND N was qualified twice by McNair and he takes the drive here in what should be a good spot for his North American debut. This barn won with an import on Thursday night and this gelding gets top call. (1) JUMPSHOT was interfered with in early stretch or he likely would have been closer. He surely needed that start and he can improve here. (3) KUIL DEVA is right there every week and she is impossible to toss from Tri and Super tickets considering her current form. (4) GODSPELL HALL showed a bit of late interest last time; consider for the bottom of the exotics.

Race 2: DREAM MAKER 1st Leg Two Year Olds

(3) DEAN B HANOVER was in a race all of his own in his debut, winning as he pleased, and he should be tough to beat here. (5) UCANTTOUCHTHIS was better in his second start and he is the only one that has shown speed comparable to the choice. I'll take him to complete the Exacta over the choice's stablemate. (1) BEACHHEAD who was also impressive in his debut in an easy spot at Georgian Downs. (4) PRAYFORTHEWICKED should improve with a start under his belt; using underneath.

Race 3: ONT Sires 3YO Grassroots Starters in 2020 NW $13,500 L6

(6) ISLA SEELSTER was just short as my 34 to 1 Spot Play last week, out-tripped by the winner who sat the pocket and got a clear run up the pylons in the lane. She should be tough in here if she stays in range. (1) MOUTH WATERING had a tough trip last time and drawing inside here she should be able to find a helmet to follow; using. (2) LA BELLE REBELLA should get positioned near the front early and that gives her a chance here. (8) NEED UR OPINION should pass a few of these late; using on the bottom.

Race 4: CLM HDCP $25,000 to $30,000 - Pick 4

(8) JULERICA was full value for a hard-earned win last week racing uncovered in the back 1/2 and I'll go right back to him off the Montini claim. (4) LEGAL BETTOR was going late last week but the choice had too much of a jump. He could turn the tables here with the right trip. (1) JAYDENS PLACE was right behind the choice and he is another logical alternative here. (2) ALLSTAR SEELSTER seems to fit well at this level and he gets Roy to drive now; using underneath.

Race 5: NW $8,000 L5 or $16,000 L10 AE: OPT CLM $30,000

(8) CUE HALL takes a big drop here and I have to think he will get motivated early. He gets the nod over another class dropper (5) PERFETTO who comes in off a sick scratch. (7) SUPERLATIVE is always closing but she often finds himself at the mercy of pace and trip. I'd demand a price here. (2) MAJOR MUSCLE will likely sit a trip again and hang around to take a share.

Race 6: CLM HDCP $15,000 to $20,000 - Pick 5

(3) BUDDHA BLUE CHIP has been in excellent form since coming back from the break and he will take beating here racing off the Moreau claim. (7) GOLDINTHEBADLANDS left, took a shuffle and came on again late racing against the choice. He should be the main threat. (1) ROCKIN WIZARD can get a good trip here and take a decent share. (4) MISSION THREE drops but his recent form is sketchy and I'll use him only on the bottom of the exotics.

Race 7: F&M CLM HDCP $10,000 to $15,000

(6) PATRICKS COOKIE gets reclassified here and racing for a tag she should be tough in this spot. (5) HIGHMOON SUNSHINE clearly has found her best level and she is likely the one the choice will need to fear most as she looks to double up. (4) MISS ROCKADALI may have cost herself a win last time when she broke and she should be a threat here if she stays flat. (7) LYDIA LULU BELLE shows improved form for Team Cullen and she's worth a look for the exotics.

Race 8: NW $5,000 L5 or $10,000 L10 - Pick 4

(6) AMERICAN VIRGIN should be mighty tough on the class drop here but he likely will offer a short price. (5) FANCOURT also drops and he likely needed his last start when coming off a vet scratch. He is sure to be activated early. (2) BORN OF FIRE shows improving form and he gets a much better post this time. I'll use him in this Pick 4 as a price option. (9) ROYAL RENEGADE is capable vs. this type but he gets post 9 for his return and I'll watch him for next week where he may get to drop another level if he gets no money here.

Race 9: DREAM MAKER 1st Leg Two Year Olds

(5) LINEDRIVE HANOVER qualified faster than these horses raced so I can't see going against him here. (3) KEYSTONE CATALYST ships in for Alagna off a good debut and he likely fills out a chalky Exacta. (1) ISLAND BEACH BOY finished fast but the winner was already close to Guelph at that point. He can take a share here. (2) NO FREE LUNCH is capable of better and he should crack the Super here.

Race 10: NW $3,000 L5 or $7,000 L10

(2) THE REGULATOR had a no chance trip at Grand River now he gets the leading driver and a better post. Perhaps McNair can wake him up in this spot at a price. (3) ICY BLUE SCOOTER is an obvious contender dropping to the bottom of the conditioned ranks and he is on my late multi-race tickets. (10) BUSH MAN also faces much easier here and if he floated out and stayed parked to make front, that wouldn't be a surprise at all. (1) WESTSLUCKY TERROR is another who gets class and post relief and you know he will get sent hard leaving the gate; another multi-race option in a race with a few possibilities.

Race 11: Starters for a Purse of $9,000 or Less in One of Last Three

(6) SAMS A CHAMP A ships into Mohawk boasting sharp form and he lands in a good spot here and he gets top call in the finale. (8) CINNAMACK exits a tough dash where he hit the board and he shows improving form. He's on my late Pick 4 ticket. (10) JEWELS DRAGON has been racing well in the top classes at the B tracks and merits a look here despite drawing into the second tier. (4) LIVELY ROCKET raced well off the claim but he often finds himself too far back; using underneath. (1) WHITE HAIR ROCKS almost never misses taking a check; using on the bottom.
