Top Pick Stats: 4/22 (-$30.00) Best Bets: 0/1 (-$2.00); Spot Plays: 0/2 (-$4.00) Best Bet: ROXIE HART (Race 1) Spot Play: P L RAINBOW DASH (Race 5) Early Pick 5: 3/9/1,3/4,9/4,10   $1.60 Late Pick 5: 4,8/3,4,7/3/6/6,7   $2.40 Race 1: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 3 (FM 4) RACES OR $50,000 (OS $62,500) LIFETIME. (3) ROXIE HART is a filly that is rapidly improving. She was unleashed in the stretch once again and passed many rivals to finish second in an OSS Gold event. She is in excellent form right now and is a major win threat this week upon dropping from stakes company. (8) BRIGHT GREEN came out of that same Gold race and finished third after sitting close to the leaders. I expect Louis Roy to be aggressive with this filly once again and for her to earn a major piece. (7) SOUTHWIND MILK was up against it in her latest from a pace standpoint, but she still trotted home strong to finish third. Another step forward can allow her to hit the board. (5) LIL SWEET is another that should appreciate the drop from stakes company. She picks up James Macdonald tonight and can hit the ticket. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER NW $19,000 LIFETIME. (9) READYFORPRIMETIME showed high speed against stakes rivals in back to back starts. He takes a big plunge from the OSS Gold level into a NW1, and gets the nod from James Macdonald. He should only continue to improve with more starts under his belt, and can get the best of this field despite the widest post draw. (1) DEVILS WISH was aggressively handled in his trip to Western Fair, which resulted in a strong second place finish. I think he’s another that is clearly improving, and could be best of the rest here. (6) WICKED EXPRESS should be a main part of the early pace once again tonight. He has shown the ability to race well on the front end and makes his second start on Lasix. He can hit the board once again tonight. (2) CHARLIES WISH has been hitting the board in every other start. He tends to be an early pace presence, but could take a different route this week with all of the other speed signed on. He can close for a share. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Mohawk Park card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: NW $15,000 LAST 5 STARTS.  AE: OPT. CLM. $70,000. AE: NW $45,000 IN 2025 (MIN 12 STARTS). (1) QUEBEC HANOVER raced extremely well in his latest, finishing second after trying to take the field down the road. Assuming he can mind his manners once again, he looms as a major threat in this field. (3) WILLOWTIME stormed down the center of the track to earn his first win of the season last week. It was a long, sustained effort against a group that he finally found to his liking. He now steps back up a level, but off the strength of his latest, he deserves plenty of respect tonight. (4) PHOENIX has finished well back in his last two starts, but he has excuses with post position draws. He finds some post relief tonight, and could be given a more aggressive steer to get him into the action and find his way onto the ticket. (6) DEALIN WITH DEWEY has done some great work at Buffalo Raceway’s half mile oval as of late, and gets a drop in class from the Preferred 2 types that he had been facing here. He can close for a share. Race 4: NW $6,900 LAST 5 STARTS AE: N/A $1,470 P/S IN 2024 OR 2025. (4) ILIKEMEBETTOR A is likely to take a major share of the betting support this evening. He went off as the favorite when shipping in from Yonkers, but got completely shut off in the stretch, never being able to find room when it mattered. He looms large with a cleaner trip. (9) THE GREEK FREAK could be ready to roll off the bench on the strength of his one qualifier. If he is driven aggressively from this wide post, he’ll likely be the main challenger. (1) BET THE BB has been steady in recent weeks, and is the type of horse who can pull an upset if things get western. He can hit the board again tonight. (5) THUNDER COUNTRY gets another crack at this level after facing tougher foes. He usually does his work from mid pack and can close for a share this time around. Race 5: WINNERS OF 3 BUT NOT MORE THAN 6 OR $80,000 (OS $100,000) LIFETIME. (4) P L RAINBOW DASH is a stone cold closer, but has been extremely impressive in her first two starts of her four year old season. She draws a post which could allow her to get by a couple of rivals early, leaving her with a little less work to do when it matters most. She’ll likely be flying late again, and can get up for the win. (10) MASSTERCRAFT got a great drive from Trevor Henry in his latest, who pulled him first over and was able to clear the leader, giving him enough of a gap to hold off the closers. He is extremely sharp right now and is a logical contender despite the far outside draw. (9) WHAT ABOUT ELMO couldn’t quite catch Masstercraft in his latest, but is another closer that is putting up solid efforts as of late. He can’t be ignored on exotics. (1) VERACRUZ has been much better since adding Lasix. He can sit close to the leaders and pick up a share. Race 6: NW $3,000 LAST 5 STARTS (W/O $23,500 LAST 10 STARTS N/E). AE: NOT AVERAGING $1,175 PER START IN 2025 (MIN 10 STARTS). AE: NW $100 IN 2025. (8) PIPEWRENCH CHARLIE was towed into the flow in his latest by eventual winner Stone Carver. He vaulted off that one’s cover and was closing extremely well to finish fourth, though he missed second by a nose. His regular pilot, Travis Cullen, is back in the bike tonight, and he gets a drop in class. I think he can work out a trip from the outside post and get the job done. (4) NIGHTIME DANCER comes off a sick scratch in his latest, and his last two races at Mohawk Park weren’t the best, but he gets James Macdonald back in the bike tonight who drove him to a win back in late April. I think he puts him in play in the early stages and his form rebounds, but does it rebound enough to get him a win? I say not quite. (6) BEACHIN LINDY has produced strong rallies in his last two efforts, resulting in hitting the board. If he is latched onto decent cover, I can see him doing the same tonight. (1) GENTLEONMYMIND can produce some extremely strong final quarters from time to time. He can pass some tired horses and pick up a share. Race 7: NW $6,000 LAST 5 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $30,000. AE: $27,000 IN 2025 (MIN 5 STARTS). AE: N/A $1,480 P/S IN 2024-25. (7) FLIRTY DANCER made two moves from post ten in his latest and held off a charging rival in the stretch to get the job done. It was a strong win that deserves respect. Missteps have caused him some trouble in recent weeks, but if he’s on his game again, he should be tough. (3) PINEWOOD HANOVER was aggressively handled by Henrisken in his first start in six weeks. Once he got a pocket seat, though, the outside flow began, causing him to take a bad shuffle. I didn’t mind the effort, all in all, and improvement can come in his second start around the Mohawk oval. (4) CRYSTAL BALLER has done his best recent work from far back. He has the ability to race up close, but that could result in him trying a first over move that he potentially can’t sustain. He’s a tricky horse, but he can contend if he brings his A game tonight. (6) MYRETIREMENTDREAM gets to take another step down the class ladder after a solid third place finish behind the aforementioned Masstercraft. He can work out a mid-pack trip and hit the ticket. Race 8: NW $3,000 LAST 5 STARTS (W/O $23,500 LAST 10 STARTS N/E). AE: NOT AVERAGING $1,175 PER START IN 2025 (MIN 10 STARTS). AE: NW $100 IN 2025. (3) STORMALONG gets a significant drop in class after a speed try in his latest. To his credit, he didn’t fade completely out of the picture in the stretch, and only finished two lengths behind the winner when it was all said and done. His speed is just too much to overlook at this level. (5) BETTOR OF THE WEST finished a strong second in his latest. He saved ground around the final turn, then angled out and took his shot. Despite zero wins on the year, he has been racing well, and can pick up a major piece tonight. (1) SHOW STOP tried a first over move against big favorite Tricky Mcwicky in his latest. Someone had to do it, and unfortunately, it was him. If he had sustained the move for longer, I would’ve put him in for second instead. He needs a setup, but can still close to hit the ticket. (4) FOREFATHER predictably closed up for a minor share again in his latest. The same can happen tonight. Race 9: PREFERRED 2. (6) PEMBERTON caught my eye, and likely the eye of many others, when he stormed down the center of the track to finish a close fourth. That was his first start since November of last year, and his back class at Mohawk is no secret. A step forward can get him to the winner’s circle this week. (1) GHOSTLY CASPER tried a first over move from fifth against Gaines Hanover. He logically faded in the stretch, but I think it’s an effort you can easily forgive. He could be aggressively handled tonight and put into a spot where he can strike for a major piece. (5) EDEN ONTHEHILL produced an 8-1 upset in his latest with an extremely strong final quarter. He’s been holding his own at these upper levels as of late and deserves a spot on the ticket. (3) SPARTAN GENERAL is the wild card here, as he usually always is. A shorter field makes it more likely that he picks up a share. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 10: CLAIMING HANDICAP $18,000 TO $24,000. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE & SEX. ENTER IN MULTIPLES OF $1,000. (7) STASH IT AWAY added Lasix in his latest and produced a front end score as the favorite. He now races off the claim for the Shayne Barrington barn and looms as a repeat possibility. (6) KYLES ART has quietly won three races in a row and seven so far this season. He is having an excellent year, and that can continue tonight. (4) LETS GET ROCKED could be given the green light this evening with Tyler Borth giving him the nod. He needs a bit of a form reversal before I consider him a win threat, but he can hit the board. (5) TARQUINUS HANOVER comes off a big win at Kawartha in his latest. He’s been earning minor shares at this level of late and can do the same tonight. Race 11: NW $3,700 LAST 5 STARTS (W/O $12,500 LAST 10 STARTS N/E). AE: NOT AVERAGING $1,130 PER START IN 2025 (MIN 8 STARTS). AE: OPT. CLM. $20,000. (1) HEAD OF THE CLASS is rounding back into form and could be set for a winning effort in his third start back. He is likely to take a lot of betting support with James Macdonald in the bike, which I think is warranted. (6) BUCK DANCER is always a logical threat at this level. He finished third after trying the front in his latest. Another good finish is likely if he minds his manners. (9) MISTER MAGIC has been in solid form, but draws the far outside post once again. He hit the board despite that draw last week and can do it again tonight. (3) VALUABLE MISS made a miscue at the start of her latest which took her out of contention. She should be closing in the late stages and can pass horses to pick up a piece. (8) LIKE CHAOS gets a drop in class and has been handled aggressively in recent weeks. He could mix things up early and grab a share of this Hi-5.
