Race 1 - 4YO and Younger NW1 or $7,000 - **GTD $75,000 Pick 5**
(6) BETTER TAKE IT produced one of the more impressive qualifying miles of the day on May 28th, pulling from 6th at the 1/2 and traveling first over to the final turn when then forced wide by two rivals that pulled in front of her. He was still able to come on to win and she might even be second choice here to a colt that goes for top connections, (4) INDICTABLE HANOVER. Nod to the former and using both in the Pick 5. (10) UNIQUE BEACH qualified well and goes for an outfit that sends them ready, but starting from the second tier, I’ll use him underneath here. (9) HE REFUSES TO LOSE is an Alagna pupil that could crash the exotics at a price here starting from the outermost post.
Race 2- 4YO and Younger NW1 or $7,000 LT
(6) KNOCKDOWN DRAGOUT was stakes-placed in 1:55 3/5 in only her second start at two then had some behavioural issues. There is no reason she can’t beat these if she minds her manners, but, take a long look at her in the post parade for clues. (10) WINDSONG PATRIOT is one that I expected to be pretty good last year, and he had a short campaign. His qualifier was decent, and he should threaten here. (8) ILLDOITMYSELF goes for a barn that had several qualify well and she is worth a look for the exotics here. (2) STRAVINSKY is the second foal of a dam that has produced a $315K earner and he goes for a top trotting barn; consider for the Tri and Super.
Race 3 - NW 8 or $120,000 (F&M $165,000) LT
(2) HEY LIVVY has the speed and talent to be competitive at the top level; her gait issues sometimes get in the way. She should beat this group if she stays flat. (8) PIKACHU HANOVER is right there every race and he is effective racing from anywhere. The outer post should boost his price; Exacta factor. (5) MEMO fits well here, and he gave the choice a tussle in February. He can share vs. these. (7) KNIGHT ANGEL came on well late in his qualifier; using on the bottom.
Race 4 - NW $3,000 L5 or $7,000 L10 - Pick 4
(3) P L JACKSON faces much easier than he was when last seen here and he should be tough vs. these. (7) MACH CODE ripped off a solid qualifier over the Hanover Raceway 1/2-mile last week and he should provide a speed threat vs. these. (5) ROCKIN N TALKIN is a bit of an unknown shipping in from out west, but he did race at the highest level there and he could be an interesting price play here. (10) BLACK SMILE goes first time for trainer Budd here which can and has been a potent angle in the past.
Race 5 - 5YO and Younger NW2 or $30,000 LT
(3) CAPTIVATE HANOVER was unhurried and confidently handled by driver Macdonald when winning his qualifier and he gets the nod here over (7) BEAUMOND HANOVER, who has done nothing wrong to this stage of his career and looks ready. (9) IDEAL PERCEPTION was fast last year, and he goes for a barn that sends them all ready. He can’t be dismissed. (6) SUNDOWN KID raced well in defeat to the choice, but this is a tough spot. Using on the bottom.
Race 6 - 4YO and Younger NW1 or $7,000 LT
(3) REAGAN BLUE CHIP – a $90,000 Harrisburg purchase – is a full-brother to a 1:51 4/5 performer who won her debut. This one looks ready to roll. (5) SIXFINGERFREDDIE was excellent in his winning his May 28th qualifier and he should be the choice’s main foe here. (7) SOCIAL THEORIES wasn’t far back in a solid qualifier and he can take a slice here. (9) HES SWIFT was moving well late in his qualifier; consider using on the bottom.
Race 7 - 4YO and Younger NW2 or $15,000 LT
There are several in here that made my qualifier Watch List, but it’s hard to go past (4) A POSITIVE HANOVER, who was by far the fastest. (2) ANETO was asked to do no more than follow the leader and he looked like he had lots of late pace to offer if turned loose. I’ll use him as an upset possibility. (8) CENTURY GRIZZLY followed the choice well and it was a long way back to the next horse; using. (1) ONE FOR JULIUS caught my eye finishing well, and he wouldn’t be the worst bomb on the card to take a swing with.
Race 8 - NW $25,000 L5 or $150,000 LT AE: OPT CLM $60,000
(8) FREE WILLY HANOVER made a solid final 1/4 first-over bid in his qualifier and post 8 should boost his price in a race with many possibilities; slight nod. (3) DANCER HALL was the winner of that qualifier and he fits well here but he could be over bet. (2) RUN DIRECTOR was quietly having a solid year for Team Baillargeon and he is hard to toss here. (5) MASS FORTUNE K is worth a look going for Auciello for the first time.
Race 9 - STARTERS FOR A PURSE LESS THAN $9,000 IN ONE OF L3
This race is as wide-open as I have seen so far since Mohawk re-opened. I’ll take a swing with (8) RACEMUP who should at least blast for position early. (9) SIR PUGGSLEY gets McNair, so he should be leaving too. I’ll use him on multi-race tickets. (5) CINNAMACK is worth a look on the barn change here. (4) DOVUTO HANOVER is part-owned by the driver and the break could benefit him. Check the tote board for clues.
Race 10 - NW $5,000 l5 or $11,000 L10
(10) ISLANDSPECIALMAJOR is definitely good enough to beat these if he is close to 100%, and Steacy’s stock that have qualified have looked razor-sharp. I’ll throw my dart here in another tough race to figure. (1) REGAL SON fits here and if he is ready, he may take heavy action on the board as has been seen previously. (3) H P NAPOLEON is always in the mix it seems, and he projects to get a good trip here. He is in with an upset chance. (7) PRINT MEDIA is likely to get sent forward leaving the gate and he should land in the High-5. (4) DREAMY FELLA is usually a good one to use on the bottom as he frequently passes horses late.
