(3) P L ROBERT G was confidently handled in his most recent try, in a two-move, wrapped up score. He takes a step up in class this evening but is one that should be able to take another step forward in this group, and is one I’ll give the nod to in the opener. (6) TREGARON was an even 5th in his latest. It was his first start of his 3YO campaign and can step up with an even bigger effort here. (7) RISING INTEREST flashed some good trot late in the mile last time out to grab the show spot. It was his best effort in his three starts of 2025 and looks to be inching closer to a win. (9) WEARING THE GREEN exits a 3rd place effort in his latest. He has the gate speed to overcome the outside, and is a logical contender, but is one I’ll side against this evening.  Race 2: PREFERRED (6) GAINES HANOVER is coming by off a dominant score in his latest. He hooks up with a rival he finishes a narrow 2nd to at this level two starts back, but that was just his first start of 2025. He should be even tighter and I’ll give him the nod here. (3) LOGAN PARK has started off his 2025 campaign a perfect 2-2. He raced off lasix last time out and will be racing without it for a second consecutive try as he gears up for a trip to the Elitloppet. He’s ended off the one above two starts back and will have to worry about him once again in this contest and is a main threat. (7) FASHION FRENZIE trotted well late to grab the place spot in his latest, but is likely racing for a share here. (1) LOCATELLI has been racing well and is one that can round out the super. (3) GHOSTLY CASPER comes off a 3rd place effort in the Preferred last time out. He takes a dip in class and should have every chance to get his picture taken here. (2) MARS HILL worked out a two-hole trip but faded to 6th. It was his first start of 2025, and he can show improvement in his 2nd start. (1) SPARTAN GENERAL rallied nicely to be 3rd in his latest. This is a tougher group but he’s shown he’s capable of beating similar company, so long as the trip scenario works out in his favor. (5) MY BUDDY SAM was 2nd at this level in his latest but takes on tougher company here. He draws well and can stick around for a share.  Race 5: CLAIMING HANDICAP $30,000 TO $40,000. (4) HOWMAC VICTOR will be making his first start in 3 weeks, and is coming off a troubled trip in his latest. He was stuck in the pocket and appeared loaded with pace and had to settle for a 3rd place effort. He’s Bob McClure’s choice over another sharp rival in this contest and he looks primed for a big effort here. (10) B STONEY wasn’t much of a factor in his latest but will be back at a level where he’s been a dominant force. He draws the far outside but still merits respect. (6) DIRTY LIL PIGLET is coming off a dominant score in his latest in a Pop Up Series final. He steps up here and can be competitive, but will need to find a little more. (3) JJ TOMMY finished 4th in his latest off a speed try. He should be pointed forward early and can stick around for a piece. Race 6: NW $6,500 LAST 5 STARTS (9) CENTURY JAGUAR was forced to qualify after consecutive miscues. He looked very good in that morning prep coming into that start, and is one I feel comfortable going to in this spot, even from pp9; top call. (7) DEVILS ARCH was 3rd behind the choice in that same qualifier. He is capable of a strong effort at his best, and can be summoned off the wings if asked. (3) BELLA CAVALLA showed some improvement in her latest and could be trending in the right direction. She will need to find more, but we know she’s capable vs. a group like this when she’s at her best. (2) LIKE CHAOS got picked off in his latest and could be on the engine yet again. Race 7: CLAIMING HANDICAP $18,000 TO $24,000. (4) TANGO SEELSTER never got involved in his latest after a good effort two back. He draws more inside and is one I’ll give another crack this evening. (1) SPARKS FLY was never a factor in his latest and finished just behind the choice. He draws inside and fits this group nicely; contender. (3) SOUTHWIND DOMINO has failed to hit the board over his last 4 tries. He draws inside and will be involved early. (8) COLD SNAPS made a miscue in her latest. She can hit the ticket late. Race 9: NW $6,700 LAST 5 STARTS. (8) BLUE HUNT is one I pegged on top last time from pp10. He was aggressively handled but didn’t have much to offer last. He takes a further dip in class and has the talent to take down this field; giving him another try. (3) P L OZZY is coming off a pair of qualifiers as he gears up for his first start of 2025. He draws inside, should be aggressively handled, and will be tough to take down if he’s ready to go. (6) THUNDER COUNTRY rallied nicely late in the mile to be 3rd. He is racing well and will have plenty of speed to chase here:  using. (1) SAULSBROOK IAN is also making his 2025 debut and is exiting the same qualifier as the one above. He has been competitive here when he’s on his game but he likely needs a start or two. Race 10: NW $3,000 LAST 5 STARTS. (2) JOKIC was forced to qualify after making a pair of breaks. He was trotting well in a winning effort and is one I’ll give the nod to in this spot. (4) BUCK DANCER was unable to last on the lead in his latest and faded to 3rd. He draws well and can be a threat here if he’s on his game. (1) MISTER MAGIC was never a factor but was making his first start in three weeks. He could be tighter. Race 12: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 3 RACES OR $63,250 (OS $87,750) LIFETIME. (6) ALLSUMMERLONG AS has been no worse than 2nd in 3 starts here in Ontario (including 2 wins). She will try this pop up series and is sharp coming into it, and I’ll give her the nod to score here. (2) PESO HANOVER was 3rd vs. a stronger rival in his latest. He’s been closing well late to grab shares and will likely be the one to beat here. (4) SCNGILLATING TOM has just been even over his last few starts. He hooks a group he can compete with but he still needs to show a little more. (3) SHADRACK HANOVER wasn’t a factor in his latest but can improve this evening.
