Top Pick Stats: 216/621 = -$52.40 Best Bets: 15/58 = –$12.20; Spot Plays: 17/58 = +$4.60 Best Bet:  OCEANVIEW RUMOURS (RACE 7) Spot Play: MY BUDDY SAM (RACE 10) Early Pick 5: 5,7,9/1/1,2,6,7/1,4/3 = $4.80 Late Pick 5: 1,3,8/2/3,6,7/3,6,8/7 = $5.40 Race 1: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 1. 3 YEAR OLD TROTTING FILLIES. (5) FOXY AMEE will be making her sophomore debut in this opening Grassroots leg off a trio of qualifiers. She made miscues in two of those three preps, but will come into this contest adding trotting hopples. She was a 2nd place finisher the lone time she stayed to task, getting picked off by a rival who has been competitive at the Gold ranks. She draws well, and I’m hoping the equipment change will help keep her to task. (7) NOT PASSABLE looked good breaking her maiden in her lifetime debut, but has failed to hit the board in two starts since vs. tougher company. She will try the Grassroots here and will add trotting hopples. She should fit in much better here, and I’ll use her in pick 5’s. (9) P L STEVIE failed to hit the board in her career debut. She was conservatively handled in that contest and might be primed for a step forward with a start under her belt. She has to overcome the outside draw, and is someone worth monitoring. (2) IBELIEVEINANGELS was 3rd in her latest behind a pair of nice fillies. She draws inside and should be in the mix early. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2:  5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 3 (FM 4) RACES OR $53,500 (OS $62,500) LIFETIME. (1) LANDING ON TIME was an impressive winner in his first start of the year, drawing away with ease. He draws the rail here, which is always tricky, but will pick up the services of leading driver James MacDonald, and he should be able to take an even bigger step forward. He’s our clear top choice at what will be a short price. (4) SOUTHWIND MILK finished up nicely in her seasonal debut after getting away mid pack from the rail. She draws much better here, and this filly could be primed for a big effort in her second start of the year, but will still need to find more to take down the choice. (2) TREGARON made a miscue at Flamboro in his most recent try. He will add trotting hopples for this contest and he should appreciate being back on the big track. He’ll have every chance to hit the ticket. (6) MARKET BANKER was a refund in his latest after suffering broken equipment before the start. He had been racing well leading up to that effort, but takes on tougher company here. He can hit the ticket. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Mohawk Park card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 1. 3 YEAR OLD TROTTING FILLIES. (6) INCANTATION was aggressively handled in her latest, and stuck around to be 3rd. She took on mixed company in that contest and got overtaken by a pair of rivals who are sharper. She draws well, is back in with fillies and she could be the one to chase down here; top call. (7) SHAMPOO GIRL was conservatively handled in her seasonal debut, but took on much tougher company in that contest. She made a break in that contest but is now in a Grassroots leg and should be more competitive in this group if she can be forwardly placed. (2) Y S QUEEN BETH failed to bit the board in her latest. She came off a nice victory two starts back and draws inside here and will be one that should be looking to get a big piece late. (1) ITS NOT MY VAULT will be making her way to the big track to try her hand in this Grassroots event. She recovered nicely off a break to be 3rd, and maybe the big track can help her in this spot; let’s see. Race 4: NW $3,300 LAST 5 STARTS. (4) TRICKY WICKY was aggressively handled despite an outside draw in his latest, in what was his first start for new trainer Michiel Vanderkemp. He made two moves and fought family to be 3rd in that effort, and with a better draw to work with this evening, he should have every opportunity to secure a big piece. (1) ENFORCER was sneaky good two starts back before hooking a much tougher rival in his latest. This is a more wide open affair and he’s capable of a good effort if he can work out a favorable trip; using. (8) ARMOR SEELSTER hasn’t hit the board over his last several tries, but hooks a field he should find more to his liking this evening. He’ll have to overcome the outside draw, but is in with a chance. (3) SHOW STOP worked out a perfect trip in his latest, but lost to a rival who got a seam up the inside. He draws better and is one that will be in convention late. Race 5: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GOLD LEG 1. 3 YEAR OLD TROTTING FILLIES. (3) GREEN GLIDER is coming off a pair of impressive victories, including a very nice score in the SBOA Final. She draws inside and is clearly the one to beat in this division in the early stages, and is one I’ll continue to side with until shown otherwise. (1) MONALISHI worked out a perfect, second-over trip to the choice in her latest, and couldn’t give her a scare. We know she’s capable of a strong effort here, but is just not as sharp as the one above. (2) BRIGHT GREEN failed to make the SBOA Final after making a break late in stride in her elimination. She was following the one above in that effort and looked poised for a possible victory, but jumped it off just as they turned for home. She’s a value player underneath. (8) LIL SWEET was conservatively handled in her latest and failed to hit the board. She draws outside but will have every opportunity to land on the ticket. Race 6: NW $10,950 LAST 5 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $50,000. (3) WHAT ABOUT ELMO stayed to task in his latest and it resulted in a very nice, 3rd place effort. He showed very good trot late in the mile, and with an inside draw to work with this evening, I’m hoping he can get away a bit closer, and work out a trip that’ll find him reach the winner’s circle; top call. (1) MASSTERCRAFT has been 2nd over his last two tries. He draws inside and can hopefully work out a more favorable journey; he’s sitting on a win. (8) P L RAINBOW DASH was motoring home late in the mile last time out, and was a very strong 3rd. She is always a danger late in the stretch, but oftentimes finds her in a tough spot. She is one I’ll use in pick 5’s, but is tough to peg on top as a win candidate. (2) TRUFFLES TOO got picked off right at the line by a rival who was drifting late. This guy will be paired up with James MacDonald, who has had plenty of success sitting behind him in limited tries, and will take plenty of support at the windows. Race 7:  ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GRASSROOTS LEG 1. 3 YEAR OLD TROTTING FILLIES. (2) OCEANVIEW RUMOURS was conservatively handled in her seasonal debut, after drawing pp9 in that affair. She finished a solid 3rd in that outing and with an inside draw to work with her, plus a start under her belt, I’ll give her the nod to take down this leg of Grassroots action. (4) TELLERS CHOICE competed in the SBOA final and was a non-factor in that outing. She takes on company she should be more competitive with here, and merits respect. Louis-Philippe Roy will be at the controls this evening. (6) ANGEL MISTRESS was aggressively handled in her latest and stuck around for a share. She draws well and is one worth using in exotics. (8) ANGELIC is winless in 13 career tries, but she can get involved early, and stick around for a share late. Race 8: CLAIMING HANDICAP $18,000 TO $24,000. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE & SEX. (3) ROCK AND TWIST was aggressively handled in his latest and it resulted in a victory. He retains Doug McNair who guided him in that contest, this guy could be rounding back into form. (6) LETS GET ROCKED was handled conservatively in his latest and failed to hit the board. He draws well, and will now race out of the Garry Merner Jr. barn, and is one that will likely be going forward in this spot; using. (7) JJ TOMMY was aggressively handled and got picked off by his stable mate late. He was claimed out of that contest by new trainer/driver J Bradley Harris, and we should expect him to be aggressive as soon as the wings unfold. (2) KYLES ART rode the rail for most of the mile in his latest and flashed some good speed late to pick off the one above. It was a clean trip but he’s capable of another strong showing here. Race 9: PREFERRED 2. (3) GHOSTLY CAPSER wasn’t a factor in his latest try, but took on tougher company in that contest. He is in a Preferred 2 level here which should be more to his liking, and he should have every chance to pick up his 2nd win of 2025. (6) SPARTAN GENERAL worked out a 3rd over trip in his latest, and never looked like a loser as they turned for home. He trotted home very well and is one that seems to be rounding back into form; he’s a danger late. (8) LOCATELLI failed to hit the board in his latest but was moving well late in that outing. He draws outside but should be competitive in this spot. (5) NASEY finally picked up a victory in his latest after a string of 2nd place finishes. He draws well and should have every chance at securing a share. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 10: NW $10,950 LAST 5 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $50,000. (7) MY BUDDY SAM hasn’t hit the board over his last three tries. He draws similarly, but I’m expecting a more aggressive approach in this spot, and is one I’ll peg on top. (3) R PEAKY BLINDERS is coming off a 4th place qualifying try, where he finished up nicely in that event. He has had difficulty staying to task in his two starts prior, and can be a major player so long as he minds his manners. (5) MYFRIENDJOSE rattled off a pair of victories and then failed to hit the board in his latest. He should be pointed forward yet again, but he will need to bounce back to pick up a big piece here. (6) VICTOR INVICTUS is coming off a 6th place effort in his latest. He was never in contention but showed some sneaky trot late; he can land on the ticket. Race 11: NW $3,300 LAST 5 STARTS. (6) WANNABEABIGSTAR will be making his first start in over one month. He will add Lasix coming into this contest, and while there is plenty of risk regarding his date and fitness, I still think this is a good enough spot for him to be a major contender; top call. (1) LOOKINLIKEAMILLION left out aggressively from pp10 in his latest and didn’t have much to offer late. He draws better and can work out a more favorable trip. (7) HF PANS SHADOW left out aggressively and slipped up the inside to score in his latest. He draws further outside but will have every chance to double up in this spot. (9) GRAVITATIONAL came first up vs. a strong winner in his latest and held on for 4th. He draws outside but can hit the ticket. (3) BAYFIELD BEACH was 3rd in his latest. He draws inside and should be in the mix early. He can grab a good piece.
