Top Pick Stats: 62/210 = -$69.40 Best Bets: 6/21 = –$16.70; Spot Plays: 3/21 = $-16.90 Best Bet:  JOKIC (RACE 5) Spot Play: BETTOR OF THE WEST (RACE 8) Early Pick 5: 4,5/1,3,7/4,6/1,4,7,9/3 = $10.80 Late Pick 5: 3,5,7,8/4,9/1/3,4/2,7 = $6.40 Race 1: NW $4,000 LAST 5 OR NW $16,500 LAST 10 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $25,000. (5) TOP MAST makes his 2025 debut after a 2nd place qualifying effort at Sunshine Meadows. He draws well, picks up the services of James MacDonald and is one I’ll give top billing to here in the opener. (4) CRYSTAL BALLER was forced to qualify after making consecutive miscues. He finished 5th in that prep against some quality rivals and stayed to task throughout. He should be a threat here, so long as he minds his manners.  (3) RADIO LAB has failed to hit the board over his last few starts. He takes a tip in class here and should be competitive in this spot. (1) LIKE CHAOS comes off a 2nd place effort at Flamboro and picks up the services of Doug McNair this evening. He can grab a share. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2:  NW $2,500 LAST 5 STARTS OR NW $10,000 LAST 10 STARTS. (1) CONTROL THE GOLD is one I had pegged as a top selection last week after a solid qualifying effort. He finished 7th in his latest but was charted with Broken Equipment (losing two shoes). I’ll forgive that effort and hope he can find the winner’s circle this evening. (7) HEAVE AWAY was aggressively handled in his latest and stuck around to be 3rd. He should be the one to beat and will be given every opportunity. (6) HOWYOUPLAY THEGAME was never a factor in his latest at Flamboro but missed over one month in between starts. He should be tighter and can put forth an improved effort here. (3) PONDER NO LONGER will make his 2nd start for owners Ed and Ashley Hensley. He was 3rd in his latest try at Flamboro and could benefit from starting out from the big track this evening. Race 3: NW 3 (OS 5) RACES OR $55,000 LIFETIME. (6) MASSTERCRAFT is coming off a pair of qualifiers as he gears up for his 4YO campaign. He draws well, should be aggressively handled in this spot and is one that should have a tactical advantage over many rivals here. (4) VERACRUZ was stuck on the inside but angled out late in the stretch to take his shot. The eventual winner had the jump on him and he was only able to settle for 2nd in that contest. He should have every opportunity to grab a big piece. (2) FABULOUS FREDDIE came first over last week and hung around to be 3rd. He has been consistent when paired with James MacDonald and will be given every chance. (7) LENIS is coming off back-to-back wins to kick off his 6YO campaign. He is sharp but will have to start from the far outside and will need another trip here. Race 4: CLAIMING HANDICAP $12,000 TO $16,000. (4) HEAD HONCHO stepped up in class last week and never left the rail. He paced evenly in the stretch but finds himself in a better spot to be competitive here. He draws well and I’ll give him the nod. (1) FAVARO SEELSTER is the sharpest horse in this field, having won 6 of 9 starts this year. He steps up in class for new trainer Daryl Laver and is intriguing here. (7) KYLES ART failed to hit the board in his latest. He retains Doug McNair and will be a threat here with the right trip. (9) MACH IMPACT grabbed a share in his latest. He missed 3 weeks going into that start and should be tighter here. Race 5: FILLIES & MARES, NW $17,000 LAST 5 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $70,000. AE: NW $100,000 LIFETIME. (3) JOKIC was dropped in an optional claimer and attracted a claim in his latest. He pushed out for early positioning and was in a winning spot before the race was declared a no contest as a result of a horse being down on the track at the start of the race. He will now race for Cory Fuller and will pick up the services of Tyler Jones and I will give him top billing here. (4) DELCREST BRENT was never a factor in that Pop-Up Series final but trotted well in the lane. This is a much more manageable spot for him and he should have every chance. (9) BOOMANDBUST went off as the 3/2 favorite in his latest and made a miscue as he was leaving out. The race was declared a no contest but was one that looked like he was primed for a good effort. He will need to stay trotting and starts further outside, so we’ll pencil him in for a share. (7) DELICIOUSSTONE DK finished 4th in his latest after notching a win two starts back. He will need a trip to find his way to the winner’s circle this evening. Race 6: NW $8,000 LAST 5 OR NW $22,000 LAST 10 STARTS. (3) DALQHUIST HANOVER wasn’t much of a factor in his latest but was making his first start of 2025. He should be tighter coming into this effort and can work out a favorable trip. (8) NASEY made an aggressive bid towards the pace setter but was repelled. He finished 2nd and should be tighter going into tonight. (7) COLD SNAPS is coming off a 5th place qualifying try. She will make her first start off a pair of miscues and can grab a share. (5) BELLA CAVALLA rallied nicely to be 3rd and is one that could be trending in the right direction. She can grab a piece. Race 7:  NW $15,500 LAST 5 STARTS OR NW $25,500 LAST 10 STARTS. AE: NW $100,000 LIFETIME. (4) SPARTAN GENERAL was going to work out a 3rd over trip but made a miscue as soon as he angled off the cones. He would’ve been tough to fend off at the top of the lane had he stayed trotting, and in a race that should see a lot of early action, I’ll give him the nod in a wide open race. (9) MY BUDDY SAM left out for early positioning and was stuck behind a tiring rival. He showed good late trot in between rivals but was only able to muster a 4th place effort. He starts from the outside but is one that merits lots of respect here. (6) SID THE KID flattened out despite a 2nd over trip and was weak on the end of it. He draws well, will likely be aggressively handled and can stick around for a share. (8) TRUFFLES TOO didn’t have much to offer in that New Holland Series Final. This group should be more to his liking and he has enough early speed to overcome pp8. Race 8: NW $2,500 LAST 5 STARTS OR NW $10,000 LAST 10 STARTS. (1) BETTOR OF THE WEST never had a chance in his latest but finished off very strongly late in the mile. He draws inside and should be primed for a very good effort this evening. (6) GOING FAST will now race for new trainer Des Tackoor after a private purchase. He will add Lasix in this contest, pick up the services of Doug McNair, and is one that merits respect despite a few weeks off. (7) PARTYINTHESHADOWS has hit the board in 4 of his last 5 tries. He starts outside and can close for a share. (8) BOTTLE ROCKET has hit the board in 6 of 9 tries this year and will have every opportunity to go [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 9: PREFERRED (3) AMIGO VOLO will make his first pari-mutuel start since a dominant victory on 3/3. He qualified on 3/31 in preparation for this outing and I’ll give him the nod to notch his 2nd straight win. (4) QUEBEC HANOVER comes off a pair of good qualifiers. He draws well and should be aggressively handled, making him a threat. (6) GHOSTLY CAPSER will gear up for his 5YO season and comes off a pair of qualifiers. He draws well but is one that could be handled more conservatively here with speed to his inside. (5) SPITFIRE OVERSEES ships back to Mohawk off a pair of starts at Miami Valley. He made miscues in those efforts and should appreciate being back on the big track here.  Race 10: CLAIMING HANDICAP $30,000 TO $40,000. (7) NAZARE was runner up to a sharp rival in his latest. He has a post edge over that one this evening and picks up the services of Doug McNair. I’ll give him top billing to find the winner’s circle this evening.  (2) LETS GET ROCKED drew outside and never had a chance to get involved. He had to come first up in what was a tough trip and managed to finish 3rd. He draws better here and will be given every chance here. (9) B STONEY has won 5 out of his last 6 starts. He has to start from the far outside and will now race for new trainer Garry Merner. He will be the one to beat but I’ll look to play against this evening. (10) BET THE BB will start from the far outside but has enough gate speed to overcome the draw. He can grab a share. (1) JJ TOMMY has finished 2nd for three consecutive weeks; he should be in the mix late.
