Race 1: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 3 (OS 6) RACES OR $62,500 LIFETIME. AE: OS 4 YR OLDS N/A $2,250 IN 2024.
(7) FABULOUS FREDDIE stepped up vs. tougher company in his latest and made a miscue off the gate. He drops back down to a level where he was a winner two starts back, and retains James MacDonald, who has guided him to victories in 2 of the 3 starts they’ve been paired together. (3) R PEAKY BLINDERS has won in 3 of his last 4 tries. He opened up a sizable lead vs. his rivals last time out and was able to hang on. He is versatile and should have options vs. this group. (4) BRONZER will be making his first start of 2025. He hasn’t raced until November and is coming off a dominant qualifying score in preparation for this contest. He draws well and that effort should translate to a competitive effort here. (8) MARKET BANKER disappointed as the choice last time out but never seemed to get around the track all that well. He’s capable of a better effort and is a threat with the right trip.

Race 2: PREFERRED.
(3) NEW RULES has won 3 of his last 4 at this level and did so in first-over fashion in his latest. He is clearly the best of this group right now and is tough to play against given the manner in which he’s winning. (1) AMIGO VOLO made a backside brush to take the lead in his latest. He got the jump on the choice but could not fend him off in the late stages. He’s finished 2nd in back-to-back starts and will likely be racing for a good piece again. (2) QUEBEC HANOVER made a miscue off the car in his latest and was never a factor. He was a winner at this level two starts back and should work out a cozy trip if he minds his manner. (6) SPITFIRE OVERSEES was an easy winner in his latest when dropping back in class. He steps back up to the Preferred and will have every chance to land on the ticket.
Race 3: NW $5,500 LAST 5 OR $11,900 LAST 10 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $25,000.
(3) SPARTAN GENERAL was making a second-over bid in his latest before jumping it off as he approached the 3/4s. He likes to do his best work late in the mile and has a wicked turn of foot, so long as he gets around that final turn, and should be able to avoid traffic trouble in a short field of eight. (7) CRYSTAL BALLER hasn’t been a factor over his last few tries. He takes a plunge down the class ladder and should be very competitive in this spot; using. (5) GIGONDAS never had much of a chance from the 10-hole in his latest. He grabbed a share and will more than likely be put in play with the draw that he works with this evening. (4) BELLA CAVALLA hasn’t been much of a factor over her last two tries. She’s better than what she’s shown, but is tough to back with confidence.

Race 4: NW $14,000 LAST 5 STARTS OR $37,200 LAST 10 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $70,000. AE: NW $100,000 LIFETIME.
(8) TRUFFLES TOO put forth an underwhelming effort in his latest when he got away last and was unable to make up a position. He was beaten 26 lengths in that contest, but was a winner at this level two starts back. He picks up the services of James MacDonald this evening, who has piloted him to six victories in seven times they’ve been paired together. Top call. (7) FRANKS ANGEL left out for early positioning and hung around to be a distant fourth. He was 7th as a beaten favorite the last time he competed at this level and is a threat if he’s at his best; not to mention, he was Bob McClure’s choice over the one above. (2) SID THE KID has been no worse than 3rd over his last 6 tries. He’s been ultra consistent and will have every chance to hit the ticket here. (5) ALL GAS NO BRAKES was never a factor in his latest but had missed three weeks prior to that contest. He draws better and can hit the ticket with the right setup.
Race 5: NW $25,000 (F&M $31,250) IN 2024-25 (MIN 10 STARTS). AE: NOT AVERAGING $1,500 (F&M $1,875) PER START IN 2024-25.
(2) EYES OF JUSTICE had no chance in his latest in a 5th place effort where he was tasked with starting from the 10-hole. He has been closing very well over his last few tries to grab shares and I’m hoping he’ll be in good, striking spot to find a winning-trip this evening. (7) BOOMANDBUST made a miscue in his latest and was out of it from the very beginning. He retains Louis-Philippe Roy who guided him to a victory at this level two starts back and merits respect. (6) TWIN B ARCHIE comes off a 3rd in his latest. He had a clean shot for second but could not go by his rival; he merits some respect off the class drop alone and draws well. (1) GODASHIM has hit the board over his last two tries and seems to be inching closer to a trip to the winner’s circle.
Race 6: NW $8,200 LAST 5 OR NW $21,700 LAST 10 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $50,000.
(8) DREBIN trotted well to be 3rd behind a pair of class-dropping rivals. He takes a dip in class this evening and should have every opportunity to get back to the winner’s circle. (5) COLD SNAPS is coming off four straight, runner up finishes. She switched up tactics in her latest when LPR tried to go gate-to-wire, but she still got picked off. She will be in the right spot turning for home, but needs to find more. (6) PATRIARCH HANOVER was never a factor in his latest when he got away towards the back of the pack. He draws much better, will start from the winningest post at Mohawk and can work out a winning trip in this spot. (1) NASEY was a dominant winner in his latest, but will likely be racing for a piece in this spot.
Race 7: CLAIMING HANDICAP $30,000 TO $40,000. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE & SEX. ENTER IN MULTIPLES OF $1,000
(5) DR JOE was confidently handed the class job and crushed in victory as the overwhelming favorite. He left out aggressively from the middle of the gate in that contest, and has a similar draw here this evening, allowing him to deploy similar tactics. I’ll give him the nod to double up off the confidence boost. (3) HURRIKANE CHEYENNE has been no worse than 3rd vs. a very sharp rival who has been competing at this level (who is not racing at this class tonight). He should have every opportunity to get the job done and is one of the main contenders here. (7) BEYOND BETTER never had a chance to get involved in his latest and wasn’t much of a factor, anyways. He has been no worse than 2nd in 4 of his last 6 tries and merits respect. (4) JJ TOMMY was a distant, runner up finisher to the choice off a claim for Brett Lester. He draws well, will likely be forwardly placed and can hang around for a share.
Race 8: HORSES THAT HAVE STARTED FOR A PURSE OF $15,000 OR LESS IN ONE OF LAST 3 STARTS.
(3) BEE TWO BEE is coming off back-to-back, dominant scores at London. He fits this condition because of the purse he raced for and should have a class advantage vs. this current group; top call. (5) TYGA HANOVER was aggressively handled in his latest and was a hard-fought 3rd. He draws well here and will likely be summoned off the gate early, making him a threat here. (7) BATTERUP HANOVER closed well in the late stages of the mile to be 2nd. He’s been racing well and is a definite contender in this group. (1) NEEDABANKLOAN was an even 5th in his latest but should be able to close for a share in this spot.

Race 9: CLAIMING HANDICAP $12,000 TO $16,000.
(4) KYLES ART left out for early positioning and was able to go by a sharp rival in the late stretch. He should have every opportunity to work out a similar trip and he can double up. (8) LETS GET ROCKED comes off a 2nd place effort to the one above, but was a winner at this level in back-to-back starts. He will race for new trainer Kyle Fellows and merits respect. (3) BIG BULLY was 3rd to the ones above in what was an improved effort. He can work out a good trip and hang around for a share. (2) DAY TRADER has cruised to victories vs. $8000 claimers and will step up in the claiming ranks here. He’s sharp enough to grab a piece.
Race 10: HORSES THAT HAVE STARTED FOR A PURSE OF $9,000 OR LESS IN ONE OF LAST 3 STARTS.
(4) STONE CARVER will return to the big track after a pair of tries at Flamboro. He was 3rd vs. much tougher company the last time he raced at WEG on 1/25 and fits this condition because of the purse he raced for at the B-track. He should be tough to beat if he’s sharp. (3) PARTYINTHESHADOWS closed well in his latest in what was a solid, 3rd-place finish. He is winless in 7 tries but can find the winner’s circle with the right trip. (2) ELLIOT MOOSE was first-over a long way but was never really a threat. It was his first try on the big track and he should be tighter because of it. (6) SMOKESTACK will return to the big track after some tries at Flamboro. He draws well here and was Louis-Philippe’s Roy choice over the one above and can hit the ticket. (8) MAGICAL ARTHUR has grabbed shares over his last four tries and will have every opportunity to do the same here.
