Top Pick Stats: 256/746 (-$240.80) Best Bets: 32/68 ($8.40); Spot Plays: 14/68 (-$37.80) Best Bet: WILDTURKEY HANOVER (Race 9) Spot Play: CALL ME PARKER (Race 2) Early Pick-5: 7,8,10/2/5,6/8,9/2,3,9   $7.20 Late Pick-5: 2,7/1,3,9/3,6/4/4,10   $4.80 Race 1: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 2 RACES OR $30,000 (OS $37,500) LIFETIME. (10) MAGICAL BET could be seen as a horse who doesn’t like to win, but I think you can make favorable excuses for him. He has chased a monster from Rideau in his last two efforts, and has six wins on the season. (7) ASIAGO SEELSTER has the potential to pull off an upset at this level, but has not put it all together since being aggressively handled back in early August. He could work out a trip from mid-pack if the early speed types falter. (8) GET WINGS is an interesting prospect who is making his debut for the Mackenzie barn. He has shown some potential in limited outings this season; I’ll look for him to finish in the money. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: POP UP SERIES: OS 3 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS NW $100,000 IN 2025 AS OF OCT 1ST. AE: OPT. CLM. $50,000 FOR OS 3 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS. LEG 1. (2) CALL ME PARKER can be excused for last week’s effort given that he had post ten. When he is put in play, he tends to stick around for a long time. He looms as a major player in my opinion and should offer a square number. (6) ALIMONY MIKE has been visually much better since adding Lasix, but the trips he has found himself with are not conducive to wins. The short field should help him. (3) GETTHEGREEN drops from Gold company, and bettors may flock to him when they see his win on July 17, but his quirks have made themselves known on more than a few occasions this year. He could be hard to trust as an underlay. Race 3: CLAIMING HANDICAP $30,000 TO $40,000. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE & SEX. ENTER IN MULTIPLES OF $1,000. (6) HIGHLANDBEACHLOVER tried to salvage what he could in an effort where he took back immediately, but his race was over after that. His last try at this level was a sharp win, and I would expect Jamieson to have him in play off the car. (5) BOLD SPIRIT has down the road potential when getting away from the likes of Wannabeabigstar and Pacino Hanover. He can carry his speed a long way. (4) CENTURY INSPECTOR likes to be forwardly placed as well, but is one who does not have as much pop late after going the usual fractions. I’ll use him underneath. Race 4: CLAIMING $20,000 FOR NW $30,000 (OS $46,500) LIFETIME. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE. AE: OS N/A $1,285 P/S IN 2025. (8) SAULSBROOK GUNNER has shown solid ability and versatility since shipping in from PEI, and now picks up the top driver on the grounds. Will I love the price? Probably not, but I recognize that he will likely be put in play and have a chance. (9) EASILY THE BEST finally gets away from Abovemypaygrade, and if he can be put in play from an outside post, he should also have a chance to show his class and produce another good effort. (6) BOYD BAY got a hot pace to chase at Grand River and was able to produce an upset win. This son of Jimmy Freight is likely to take some support, but may be involved in an early pace battle. Race 5: NW $2,600 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $5000 LAST 8 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $20,000. AE: N/A $1,200 P/S IN 2025. (9) LIVINTHEBEACHLIFE had to rough it first over last week, and although he could not sustain that move, he battled to only lose by just over three lengths. The start before that, he ran into the Uncle Shank A buzzsaw. The driver change to J-Mac is interesting; I’ll take a shot off the drop in class. (2) LETS GET ROCKED makes sense off his two straight wins, with last week’s being more impressive when storming down the center of the track to just get up. He is a must use in multi-leg tickets. (3) FOREFATHER has been pacing some big miles against tougher competition. He doesn’t have much gate speed, but can easily get into contention against this group. Race 6: 2 YEAR OLD FILLIES: NW 1 RACE OR $8,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES. (2) LEXI LAINE took a strong step forward in her second morning prep, and now picks up J-Mac for the career debut. This is a test against a couple of fillies that have shown decent ability in limited action, but I will expect these connections to have her ready. (7) ALEKSOVA took a big step forward in her second career start and finished a strong second to another debuting filly for top connections. If she can work out a trip, she should be a main contender. (3) ARTISTIC DELIGHT took decent support in her latest, but spoiled all chances with an early break. Borth chooses off; I would expect her to be more conservatively handled tonight. Race 7: POP UP SERIES: OS 3 YEAR OLD FILLIES NW $100,000 IN 2025 AS OF OCT 1ST. AE: OPT. CLM. $50,000 FOR OS 3 YEAR OLD FILLYS. LEG 1. (9) SHAMPOO GIRL was a sharp fourth place finisher in her latest, which is a term that doesn’t get thrown around often. She was parked for the mile last week, and eventually put a nose in front of the horse who was on the lead, but was passed by horses who got better trips behind her. If she can get into play and avoid the parked out trip, I like her to pull off an upset. (3) SHESAMANALISHI is likely going to take plenty of support from trip handicappers. She never found room in the stretch and was eventually placed second. She is another who can contend with a better trip. (1) MEDLEY SEELSTER produced two straight sharp efforts against Foxy Amee. Despite being placed fourth last week, she still raced well against that rival, and now picks up J-Mac. She is another contender in this wide open race. Race 8: POP UP SERIES: OS 3 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS NW $100,000 IN 2025 AS OF OCT 1ST. AE: OPT. CLM. $50,000 FOR OS 3 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS. LEG 1. (6) SUNDAY SHOES should take plenty of support tonight after his sharp win last week. McNair gave this son of Wheeling N Dealin the nod, and I will do the same. (3) PIERRE IN PARIS is arguably the most talented horse in this field, but frequently gets in his own way. If he minds his manners, he should loom as a major threat. (1) ULTRA MYLES has been a consistent type against overnights. The Gold was biting off more than he could chew, but this is a nice middle ground for him. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 9: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 3 (FM 4) RACES OR $66,750 LIFETIME. AE: 4 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER OPT. CLM. $60,000. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE. (4) WILDTURKEY HANOVER was a sharp second in his latest when dropping from a try in the Canadian Trotting Classic. He battled gamely and just missed. He should be on the move in the early stages and a major threat again. (2) MAJOR BANK was a strong second in his latest after making two moves. He is continuing to race extremely well week in and week out. (3) TITIAN worked out a nice second over trip, but could not sprint with the top two. She could trip out if things work in her favor, but I’ll use her underneath. Race 10: POP UP SERIES FINAL: STARTERS FOR A PURSE OF $12,000 OR LESS IN LAST 3 STARTS (W/O $45,000 IN 2025 N/E). AE: NW $25,000 IN 2025 (MIN 10 STARTS). (4) MUSCLE FASHION somehow paid eight dollars last week and will look to sweep this Pop-Up Series tonight. The veteran has found his form again; I’ll give him the top call. (10) MERCUTIO was an extreme underlay last week and was left in the dust by Muscle Fashion, but held second and raced well. The post doesn’t help, but he should be forwardly placed from out there. (1) JGS PAL took advantage of a couple rivals making breaks, and was able to vault by in the stretch after swinging wide. He should be looking for another setup from mid-pack and can pick up a piece.
