Race 1: FILLIES & MARES, 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 3 RACES OR $50,000 (OS $62,500) LIFETIME. AE: GRASSROOTS STARTERS.
(9) CANT TURN YOU DOWN looked in trouble in midstretch but found a seam and still won by a length. She continues to impress. (2) P N G SHADOW got a nice steer by Mark Macdonald last week and likely looks for similar tactics tonight. (1) HORSE WITH A PLAN raced well again and could have benefitted from getting out slightly earlier, but I don’t think she was beating the winner regardless.

Race 2: CHAMPLAIN STAKES: (GR 3). 2 YEAR OLD OPEN. STARTING FEE: $1,000 CDN ($775 USD).
(2) ROCKER LINDY ships up from Lexington after a much-improved outing that followed his progression from the qualifiers. This field has some question marks and he could take advantage. (4) HONCHO is difficult to gauge at the moment but I thought he was better in the Millard Farms. Some gate speed and a flat mile could be enough for a big piece. (5) GRAND MANALISHI has been facing tougher trotters in nearly every start. He was better last week and could step forward again.
Race 3: FILLIES & MARES, 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 3 RACES OR $50,000 (OS $62,500) LIFETIME. AE: GRASSROOTS STARTERS.
(5) ROMANTIC BEAUTY gets a pass for last week’s defeat because those fractions were ridiculous. She is likely first to the front again. (1) MY GIRL FRIDAY has produced back-to-back sharp miles and will likely be grinding into contention again. That could favor (8) JEN TILLY who might try to work off a helmet this week considering how sharp she was in last week’s Simcoe.
Race 4: CHAMPLAIN STAKES: (GR 3). 2 YEAR OLD FILLIES. STARTING FEE: $1,000 CDN ($775 USD).
(4) DREAMTRADE caught the attention of many last week after being stacked up fourth over and nearly swooping the field. She finds a similar field and will be heavily supported. (7) FLAWLESS LADY just held on despite two rivals, including Dreamtrade, charging late on her outside. She’ll be activated early again. (5) BEAUTS CABARET has seen miscues pop up which isn’t great. If she can mind her manners and work off a helmet, she will do okay.
Race 5: FILLIES & MARES, 4 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 2 RACES OR $30,000 (OS $38,000) LIFETIME.
(3) MOLLYS ON FIRE got the better of (7) COLD CREEK CALI last week and those two should be right in the mix again. The former gapped cover slightly but still kicked home well enough to beat the latter. (8) SWEET LAKE closed sharply last week in what I think was her best mile of the season. New pilot will only add to her price.
Race 6: CHAMPLAIN STAKES: (GR 3). 2 YEAR OLD OPEN. STARTING FEE: $1,000 CDN ($775 USD).
(6) ACCESS NOW was trotting best of anyone in the Wellwood Final once when he straightened out. He reminded us that he has plenty of ability. I’ll give him the nod. (7) DETONATER HANOVER is an obvious win threat who just won a Gold. I’m partially being stubborn because I played against him last week and thought D A Johnny Cash would’ve beat him with a better trip. (2) THREE SIX ZERO may have needed that start last week but will need to class up if he wants to catch the top two.
Race 7: FILLIES & MARES, NW $3,250 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $8,500 LAST 8 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $25,000. AE: NW $28,000 IN 2026. AE: N/A $1,630 P/S IN 2025-2026.
(2) TWIN B EMPRESS should enjoy the drop in class. I’d like to see her get away a couple spots closer this week, but her turn of foot can get her into the race from anywhere. (8) SUPERIOR DELIGHT looked like herself last week and could be even better tonight if the form cycle continues. Gate speed has been lethal all summer. (9) STAG ROYAL is another mare who hopes the outside flow will be humming. She is rounding into form with last week being her best at Mohawk in a while.
Race 8: CHAMPLAIN STAKES: (GR 3). 2 YEAR OLD FILLIES. STARTING FEE: $1,000 CDN ($775 USD).
(3) DATAPRIVACY trotted home nicely in the Peaceful Way Final behind a logical winner. She shouldn’t be a dozen lengths back at the quarter this week. (8) TWIN B KINGSLEY just missed in last week’s Gold behind Flawless Lady and that was her first start in almost a month. We could see her take another jump tonight. (1) MAJOR CONTENDER provided a near $15 return last week to the delight of yours truly. I thought she only had one chance of beating Verily, and it worked out that way. Does Jamieson try it again?
Race 9: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GOLD LEG 5. 3 YEAR OLD TROTTING FILLIES. STARTING FEE $900 CDN ($700 USD).
(4) BLUE JEAN GAL broke for seemingly no reason while seemingly on her way to winning the Simcoe. That was a rare miscue for her. I’ll try her again. (6) TWIN B SHOWBIZ closed nicely again and finished a strong second in the scramble after Blue Jean Gal broke. She should be passing rivals late. (5) CHER HILL was just even last week but it was her first start in a few weeks. She draws well again.

Race 10: FILLIES & MARES, NW $12,000 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $32,500 LAST 8 STARTS. AE: NW 6 RACES LIFETIME.
(1) POWNAL BAY BOBBI finished ahead of (7) PERFECTLY CHIC last week, but you could argue both sides. I thought the latter got stacked up behind cover and still closed nicely. The former was flat in the final 15 strides but J-Mac took too long to pull three wide in my opinion. (4) LAVENDER SEELSTER faces older mares this week but should slot right in against them.
Race 11: FILLIES & MARES, NW $1,000 LAST 4 STARTS. AE: N/A $1,040 P/S IN 2026 (MIN 10 STARTS). AE: OPT. CLM. $15,000.
(5) ALL MY WISHES is fourth back now and picks up James Macdonald. I’ll side with her in a potentially open finale. (3) SANTAFES APPETITE has been unable to build on her win from five starts ago but this could be the field that starts her back up. (4) OH A LEGEND is capable of contending in this field, but the early miscue in her second start back may have derailed progress.
